Microsoft could introduce its Arm-based Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 during its May event, as per reports. The company recently confirmed that it will be hosting an event on May 20 via media invites. The event is focused on the tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI) vision and it is said that during the event the company may introduce Surface devices powered by Qualcomm X series chipsets. Notably, Microsoft is also hosting an event on March 21, where it is expected that the Intel-powered Surface PCs could be launched.
According to a report by XDA Developers, the Arm-based Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 is expected to be introduced, alongside new user-centric AI features for the Microsoft Surface devices. The report also added that the new Surface products could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chipset, making the PCs one of the first to feature the new SoC. However, Microsoft has not confirmed any of these details and the May 20 event is just focused on AI.
Not a lot is known about the upcoming Surface devices, however, some of its key specifications have been leaked. As per a report, the Microsoft Surface Pro 10 could arrive with a new OLED display that is brighter and features an anti-reflective coating. It is also said to support HDR content. The device could also feature a new webcam with an ultrawide sensor as well as an inbuilt NFC reader. Reportedly, the new webcam will offer AI Studio Effects. The overall design is likely to remain the same as its predecessor.
Another product that could launch alongside the Surface Pro 10 is the Surface Laptop 6. As per rumours, it could feature a display with thinner bezels and rounded corners. A new haptic touchpad is also expected to be added to the laptop along with dedicated key for the Copilot AI next to the Windows key.
Notably, Microsoft announced this new key in Windows laptops last year. Apart from that, the Laptop 6 might also get a new set of ports including two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port on the left side. A magnetic Surface Connect charger is said to be placed on the right.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned as “antisemitic” a decision by the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for war crimes against him and ex-Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
He said the ICC was “falsely” accusing them “of deliberately targeting civilians, this when we do everything in our power to avoid civilian casualties”.
The ICC also issued a warrant for Hamas commander Mohammed Deif. Israel says he was killed in Gaza in July.
ICC judges said there were “reasonable grounds” to believe the three men bore “criminal responsibility” for crimes during the war between Israel and Hamas.
US President Joe Biden called the ICC move against Israeli officials “outrageous”.
“Whatever the ICC might imply, there is no equivalence – none – between Israel and Hamas,” Biden said in a statement. “We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.”
Both Israel and Hamas reject the allegations made by the ICC.

In a statement on Thursday, Netanyahu said: “The antisemitic decision of the international court in The Hague is a modern Dreyfus trial, and it will end the same way.”
“The court in The Hague accuses us of a deliberate policy of starvation,” the Israeli PM said.
“This when we have supplied Gaza with 700,000 tons of food to feed the people of Gaza. We issue millions of text messages, phone calls, leaflets to the citizens of Gaza to get them out of harm’s way – while the Hamas terrorists do everything in their power to keep them in harm’s way, including shooting them, using them as human shields.”
Netanyahu said Israel would “not recognise the validity” of the ICC’s decision.
Gallant said the ICC placed “the state of Israel and the murderous leaders of Hamas in the same row and thus legitimises the murder of babies, the rape of women and the abduction of the elderly from their beds”.
Ehud Olmert, a former Israeli prime minister, told the BBC that while he was critical of Netanyahu’s handling of the conflict with Hamas, he did not agree with the ICC’s decision.
“Israel has not committed genocide or war crimes that deserve these charges against the prime minister and the minister of defence,” Olmert told Radio 4’s World Tonight programme.
Hamas made no mention of the Deif warrant but said the move against Netanyahu and Gallant constituted an “important historical precedent, and a correction to a long path of historical injustice against our people”.

The impact of the warrants announced by the ICC will depend on whether the court’s 124 member states – which do not include Israel or its ally, the US – decide to enforce them or not.
Several European countries have said they respect ICC decisions. Downing Street said the British government respected the independence of the ICC.
The prosecutor’s case against the three men stems from 7 October 2023, when Hamas gunmen attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 others back to Gaza as hostages.
Israel responded by launching a military campaign to eliminate Hamas, during which at least 44,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.
For Deif, an ICC pre-trial chamber found reasonable grounds to believe he was “responsible for the crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other form of sexual violence; as well as the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence”.
It also said there were reasonable grounds to believe the crimes against humanity were “part of a widespread and systematic attack directed by Hamas and other armed groups against the civilian population of Israel”.
For Netanyahu and Gallant, who was replaced as defence minister earlier this month, the chamber found reasonable grounds to believe that they “each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”.
It also found reasonable grounds to believe that “each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population”.

The Realme GT 7 Pro debuted in China earlier this week with a starting price tag of CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 43,800) for the 12GB + 512GB option. The Indian variant is expected to share specifications with its Chinese counterpart.

ChatGPT app for macOS is getting a new update which will make it easier for users to multitask with the chatbot. The new update was rolled out for all supported macOS versions on Tuesday, and it adds a companion window that can be accessed side-by-side with another app. Users can open the smaller window by pressing the Option + Space buttons on the keyboard. Earlier the buttons opened a mini prompt text field using which users could activate the app in a full window.

OpenAI detailed the new update and the companion window mode in the release notes of the macOS app. The AI firm said that the app will now offer side-by-side access to ChatGPT’s companion window. The window will appear in front of all other windows allowing users to check other apps alongside.

In the older version, users could press the Option + Space keys to activate a prompt window where they could write a prompt, upload files or take screenshots directly from the screen they were on. But once activated, it would open ChatGPT in a full window over all other opened apps. This often made it trickier to go back and forth between different apps or to trigger the app every time new information was needed to be added.
OpenAI says that the Option + Space shortcut can be used for different actions including starting a new chat, refocusing the cursor to an open companion window, and reopening the last companion window (bringing it to the front).
Further, users can customise the position of the companion window, reset time, and keyboard shortcut in Settings. Users can also add a previous conversation to the companion window by clicking the icon from the main desktop app window.
Apart from this, the update also improved the data analysis of the desktop ChatGPT app for macOS. Users can now interact with tables and charts in a separate expandable interface as well as customise and download them. It is also possible to select specific table cells for better analysis on a part of presentations and documents.

Microsoft unveiled the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 for business on Thursday (March 21). The latest PC lineup has been called “the first Surface AI PCs built exclusively for business” by the company. Since these are aimed at the tech giant’s commercial clients, they will not be sold directly to consumers. The devices retain the same design as their predecessors, however, both Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 feature the latest Intel Core Ultra chipsets, new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capabilities, and a dedicated Copilot key.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 10 price starts at $1,199 (roughly Rs. 99,950) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage variant with the Intel Core Ultra 5 chipset. The most expensive variant with 64GB RAM, 1TB inbuilt storage, and the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor comes at the price of $2,799 (roughly Rs. 2,33,300).
Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 6 also starts at the price of $1,199 (roughly Rs. 99,950) for the base variant with the Intel Core Ultra 5 SoC, 8GB RAM, and 256GB inbuilt storage. The Intel Core Ultra 7 processor variant with 64GB RAM and 1TB inbuilt storage is priced at $299 (roughly Rs. 2,50,000). Both the Surface devices come in Black and Platinum colour options. Businesses can order the PCs via Microsoft’s commercial store. The devices will be shipped starting April 9.

Webcam on the Surface Laptop 6 has been upgraded to a 1080p sensor which supports Windows Studio Effects. For connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The 13.5-inch variant gets one USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4, one USB Type-A 3.1 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the Surface Connect. The 15-inch variant gets all of these and an additional USB-C port. Select models of the larger display variant also include a built-in smartcard reader.

In a report titled ‘External Technical Root Cause Analysis — Channel File 291′, the cybersecurity firm said it found that the Falcon sensor deployed an erroneous template type string which affected Windows interprocess communication (IPC) mechanisms.
As per CrowdStrike, Falcon runs machine-learning models that automatically identify and remediate the latest and advanced threats from bad actors. Right before the July 19 outage, the detection functionality pushed a new “template type” to millions of computers of customers’ Falcon installations in version 7.11.
