Realme GT 6 Receiving Android 15-Based Realme UI 6.0 Early Access Beta in India

Realme revealed the release schedule of Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0 interface last month. Now, the Realme GT 6 is getting the company’s latest custom Android skin, albeit through the Realme UI 6.0 early access beta update in India. The latest interface brings fresh design with new animations, visuals, AI-based features, and numerous system-wide improvements. Realme opened the application for early access this week and it is accepting entries in batches. The brand said it has limited seats for the early access programme.

Realme GT 6 Gets Realme UI 6.0 Early Access Beta

As per a new post on Realme’s community page, the Android 15-based Realme UI 6.0 early access is currently open for Realme GT 6 users in India. Realme started accepting entries for early access on November 5. The brand hasn’t mentioned any deadline for the applications but users have to note that there are only limited slots available. Applications will be accepted in batches.

Interested Realme GT 6 users can participate in the Realme UI 6.0 early access program by heading to Settings > About device > Click on the realme UI 5.0 banner at the top > Click on the three dots in the top right corner > Beta program > Early Access > Apply Now and submit the required details.

It’s also worth mentioning that early access software often contains bugs that could hamper the user experience so the brand recommends not installing Early Access on primary phones. Also, it is advised to back up data to prevent data loss.

Those interested in trying the Realme UI 6.0 have to make sure that their Realme GT 6 has at least 60 percent battery and 15GB of storage available before installing the update. The smartphone should also run a stable version of Realme UI with build version RMX3851_14.0.1.614(EX01). Users can submit feedback in the logkit if they encounter bugs or have suggestions while using early access.

The Realme UI 6.0 offers a new design with revamped app icons, animated widgets, components and folders. Numerous system function icons are introduced in the latest build with advanced visual effects. It has a new live alert system, Split mode and revamped Quick Settings option. The interface has a new Charging limit feature that halts charging at 80 percent.

Huawei’s Tri-Fold Smartphone Reportedly Spotted in the Hands of Top Official

Huawei was tipped to be developing a triple-foldable smartphone in July. This move was speculated to provide a boost to the Chinese company in the foldable smartphone segment, especially when competing against other brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi. Now, the purported tri-fold smartphone has reportedly been spotted in the hands of a top Huawei official. Tipster suggests it matches the prototype that the company had developed as part of its research and development.

Huawei Tri-Fold Smartphone Leaked

According to an Android Headlines report, the Huawei tri-fold smartphone was spotted in the hands of Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. It appears to have a large inner screen which can be folded thrice.

On Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) suggested that the device is similar to a research and development prototype they previously got access to. Furthermore, the smartphone is said to sport a 10-inch inner display, with the hole-punch cutout for the front camera located on the left-most screen.

It is also speculated to have “average” thickness despite being a tri-fold smartphone. The purported Huawei handset may be powered by a Kirin 9 series processor which was previously speculated to power the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series in China. It is one of the newest processors introduced by the Chinese smartphone maker.

Via a post on X (formerly Twitter) in July, tipster Ice Universe suggested that Huawei could become the world’s first company to launch a tri-fold smartphone. Samsung, which has one of the longest-running foldable smartphone series in the market, was said to remain behind due to its struggles in making standard foldable handsets thinner. At the time, the tipster suggested that Huawei would have “no competitors for a long time after the release”.

DOJ Said to Push Google to Sell Chrome to Break Search Monopoly

DOJ Said to Push Google to Sell Chrome to Break Search Monopoly

Top Justice Department antitrust officials have decided to ask a judge to force Alphabet Inc.’s Google to sell off its Chrome browser in what would be a historic crackdown on one of the world’s biggest tech companies.

The department will ask the judge, who ruled in August that Google illegally monopolised the search market, to require measures related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its Android smartphone operating system, according to people familiar with the plans.

Antitrust officials, along with states that have joined the case, also plan to recommend Wednesday that federal judge Amit Mehta impose data licensing requirements, said the people, who asked not to be named discussing a confidential matter.

If Mehta accepts the proposals, they have the potential to reshape the online search market and the burgeoning AI industry. The case was filed under the first Trump administration and continued under President Joe Biden. It marks the most aggressive effort to rein in a technology company since Washington unsuccessfully sought to break up Microsoft Corp. two decades ago.

Owning the world’s most popular web browser is key for Google’s ads business. The company is able to see activity from signed-in users, and use that data to more effectively target promotions, which generate the bulk of its revenue. Google has also been using Chrome to direct users to its flagship AI product, Gemini, which has the potential to evolve from an answer-bot to an assistant that follows users around the web.

Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google’s vice president of regulatory affairs, said the Justice Department “continues to push a radical agenda that goes far beyond the legal issues in this case.” She added, “the government putting its thumb on the scale in these ways would harm consumers, developers and American technological leadership at precisely the moment it is most needed.”

The Justice Department declined to comment.

Google shares fell as much as 1.8 percent to $172.16 (roughly Rs. 14,530) in late trading. They had been up 25 percent this year through the close.

Chrome Access

Antitrust enforcers want the judge to order Google to sell off Chrome — the most widely used browser worldwide — because it represents a key access point through which many people use its search engine, the people said.

The government has the option to decide whether a Chrome sale is necessary at a later date if some of the other aspects of the remedy create a more competitive market, the people added. The Chrome browser controls about 61 percent of the market in the US, according to StatCounter, a web traffic analytics service.

Government attorneys met with dozens of companies over the past three months as they prepared the recommendation. States are still considering adding some proposals and some details could change, the people said.

The antitrust officials pulled back from a more severe option that would have forced Google to sell off Android, the people said.

Alphabet’s Google Bracing for Antitrust Rigmarole: Legal Outlook

Google Appeal

Mehta’s August ruling that Google broke antitrust laws in both online search and search text ads markets followed a 10-week trial last year. The company has said it plans to appeal.

The judge has set a two-week hearing in April on what changes Google must make to remedy the illegal behavior and plans to issue a final ruling by August 2025.

The agency and the states have settled on recommending that Google be required to license the results and data from its popular search engine and give websites more options to prevent their content from being used by Google’s artificial intelligence products, said the people.

The antitrust enforcers are set to propose that Google uncouple its Android smartphone operating system from its other products, including search and its Google Play mobile app store, which are now sold as a bundle, the people said. They are also prepared to seek a requirement that Google share more information with advertisers and give them more control over where their ads appear.

Lawyers from the Justice Department and state attorneys general included all of those options in an initial filing in October, as well as a ban on the type of exclusive contracts that were at the center of the case against Google.

A forced spin-off, if it happens, would also hinge on finding an interested buyer. Those who could afford and might want the property, like Amazon.com Inc., are also facing antitrust scrutiny that may prevent such a mega-deal.

“My view is this is extremely unlikely,” Mandeep Singh, a Bloomberg Intelligence analyst, said in an email. But, he added, he could see a buyer like OpenAI, the maker of artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT. “That would give it both distribution and an ads business to complement its consumer chatbot subscriptions.”

AI Overviews

Google now displays artificial intelligence-based answers at the top of its search pages billed as “AI Overviews.” While websites can opt-out of having their information used by Google to create AI models, they can’t afford to opt out of the overviews because that would risk pushing them down in search results, making it harder to reach their customers.

Website publishers have complained that the feature dampens traffic and advertising dollars since users rarely click through to see the data being used to power those results.

Earlier: Google’s AI Search Gives Sites Dire Choice: Share Data or Die

Regarding data licensing, the antitrust enforcers plan to propose two options: That Google sell the underlying “click and query” data and also separately syndicate its search results, according to the people.

The company currently sells syndicated search results, but with restrictions, such as preventing their use on mobile. Forcing Google to syndicate its search results would allow rival search engines and AI startups to quickly improve their quality, while the data feed would allow others to build their own search index.

Movie Review: I Want To Talk – 3.5/5

Movie Review: I Want To Talk – 3.5/5

Story: Words are currency for marketing hotshot Arjun Sen (Abhishek Bachchan). He is clever, shrewd and singularly focussed on his demanding job in the US,until he is caught off guard by a life threatening health condition that could also affect his ability to speak.

Review: In denial initially, this traumatic health crisis, numbs the pain of everything else in comparison including a broken marriage and financial downfall. What follows is countless hospital visits and an unpredictable future which tests the relationship Arjun shares with his daughter Reya.

Arjun is bruised not broken. There’s a certain nonchalance about Shoojit Sircar’s (Piku, October) gaze as a storyteller. It grows on you slowly and steadily. As it happens in life too, emotions are not always verbalised or expressed freely. There’s a lot of withholding and long pauses, which can be perceived as detachment or aloofness but it’s just him using silence and monotony to lead you to that breaking point. The one, you don’t see coming. There’s a certain stillness to story progression and yet you find yourself immersed in every scene.

Beyond the extraordinary survival story, the father-daughter, Doctor-patient bond and anticipation of death (like Piku) being worse than actual death form the film’s key elements. While Arjun’s extremely independent, those who have been caregivers for parents, can relate to Reya’s emotional turmoil and outbursts. The realisation that healers also need healing leaves a lump in your throat. Arjun’s nurse and friend Nancy (Kristin Goodard), signifies this sentiment.

Despite it being a heavy human drama, the film never ceases to be optimistic and casual in its approach. Our ability to endure pain or suffering is acknowledged, not glorified. Hospital bills, visits, surgeries, uncertainty of life, running a house… Arjun’s story is simply told. You admire his extraordinary courage without it screaming for attention or sympathy. The cinematic treatment’s unconventional and effective.

Holed up in his house all day if not the hospital, Arjun and Reya’s rare outings by the lake and heart-to-heart conversations feel therapeutic. Abhishek Bachchan anchors this survival tale skilfully. He lends Arjun his cheeky repartee and humour without losing grip on the situation. Ahilya Bamroo, popular on social media for her language and accent reels, makes her film debut here and she is perfect as Reya. As someone who deeply cares but doesn’t wish to be consumed by grief and pain, Bamroo is an incredible find and a great casting decision. Jayant Kripalani as Dr Deb provides the film its light-hearted moments. It’s pleasant to see Johnny Lever on screen even in a small part.

In book terms, ‘I want to talk’ may not be a page-turner but it’s not a sob story either. It reminds you that you are way more stronger than you think you are.

Microsoft ‘Moving Full Speed Ahead’ on Next-Generation Xbox Console: Report

Microsoft ‘Moving Full Speed Ahead’ on Next-Generation Xbox Console: Report

Microsoft teased its plans for next-generation Xbox hardware back in February, saying that it was focussed on delivering the “largest technical leap” for a new console generation with the next Xbox. Now, more details about Microsoft’s plans for its next console have emerged, reiterating the same claim. An internal email shared with Xbox staff has revealed that Microsoft is “moving full speed ahead” on its next-generation Xbox hardware.

In a recent email to staffers, Xbox president Sarah Bond shared Microsoft’s plans for the next Xbox console and revealed the formation of a new team working on preserving Xbox’s current library of games for future hardware. A Windows Central report revealed parts of the email Sunday, shedding a little more light on the next generation of Xbox consoles.

“We are moving full speed ahead on our next generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation,” Bond reportedly said in the email, reiterating her claim from February, when she first talked about Microsoft’s hardware commitment on the Official Xbox Podcast. On both occasions, Bond has stopped short of expanding on what “the biggest technological leap” would construe in real world performance.

The email, however, does confirm that Microsoft is hard at work on the next Xbox, but it remains unclear at which stage of development the company’s next-generation console hardware is.

Microsoft’s identity as a platform owner has come under strain of late as Xbox Series S/X console sales lag far behind Sony’s PS5 and Nintendo Switch. After several leaks and rumours, the company announced in February its plan to release some of its first-party games on rival platforms. Its decision to release some Xbox exclusive titles on PS5 and Nintendo Switch and a sore lack of triple-A exclusives on its own platform have left the Xbox parent in a perceivably weakened position in the console market.

Microsoft, however, boasts a strong portfolio of game studios, especially since its successful acquisition of Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard last year. While the Xbox Series S/X consoles have failed to kick on in terms of premium first-party titles thus far, big upcoming releases like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will launch this year to likely bring much needed wind in Xbox’s sails.

In her email, Bond also reportedly said that Microsoft had set a up a team to ensure that current Xbox games remain accessible on future hardware. “We are building on our strong history of delivering backwards compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy,” the Xbox president said.

While Microsoft has not revealed a launch window for the next generation of Xbox consoles, court documents from the FTC trial in June last year revealed that the company expects the next-gen Xbox and PS6 to launch in 2028.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Might Borrow 200-Megapixel Camera From the ‘Ultra’ Model

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Might Borrow 200-Megapixel Camera From the ‘Ultra’ Model

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim could be an entirely new device which is rumoured to join the company’s flagship smartphone lineup next year. The purported smartphone is now tipped to borrow a feature from Samsung’s top-of-the-line ‘Ultra’ model, according to claims by a tipster. As the name suggests, it is expected to be a thinner model compared to the rest of the variants and might be released in limited numbers, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition that made its debut in South Korea last month.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Camera Details Leak

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), tipster Ice Universe suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will be equipped with an “Ultra” camera. This is likely in reference to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra which features a quad rear camera setup, comprising a 200-megapixel wide camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and 10-megapixel telephoto camera.

The purported Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is speculated to borrow the 200-megapixel primary shooter from the Ultra model, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. However, another tipster who goes by @Jukanlosreve suggests that there are currently no confirmed specifications of the Galaxy S25 Slim, contradicting previous claims.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Launch Timeline (Expected)

Previous reports indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim might join the Galaxy S25 lineup but not at launch. It is expected to be unveiled in the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, a few months after the series’ debut. The phone might join the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra in the company’s flagship lineup.

Although specifications remain unknown, it is reported to be placed at the base of Samsung’s lineup. The purported handset may be equipped with watered-down features compared to the other variants, similar to the Fan Edition models. These devices are similar in appearance to the more expensive flagship models but are inferior in terms of specifications, with a lower price tag.

A `Highway` crew member tried to be around Alia while she attended nature’s call

Ace filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who brought out the acting prowess of Alia Bhatt to the big screen with the 2014 film ‘Highway’, recalled creating a safe space on set after a crew member created trouble. Imtiaz was speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa during which he opened up on maintaining decorum on a movie set.

A ‘Highway’ crew member tried to get near Alia Bhatt

Imtiaz Ali shared that ‘Highway’ was filmed in a village which meant the cast and crew did not have access to vanity vans or other amenities that they usually would. He revealed firing a crew member who tried to get near Alia while she changed or used the loo in the open.

“Alia had to change or go for nature’s call in unusual places. One crew member tried to be around her during that time, and I immediately sent him back. This happened thrice in my career, but not anymore. Times have changed drastically. Actresses are really safe on sets now. The film industry in Bombay is remarkable for the way it treats its women. With 200 people working in a unit, it is a very safe space for them,” said Imtiaz.

Imtiaz Ali on casting Alia Bhatt for ‘Highway’

Imtiaz met Alia at the screening of `Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana` (2012) albeit he had not seen her debut film ‘Student of the Year’. During an episode of Mid-day’s Sit With Hitlist, he shared, “I started talking to her and I realized that there`s some warmth in her. Emotional quotient was very high and I was very drawn to talk to her and she was talking very nicely. I started to talk to her about deeper things about things like home, society, and sh*t like that just to draw her out into that kind and I started to hear her true voice.”

“I always wanted to cast a slightly elder, like a woman of at least 30. I didn`t want to cast a more mature woman who`s had experiences of the type that she was going to talk about in the film. I didn`t want a young person in the film, but after meeting her, I realized that what I was looking for was the emotional depth, which this little girl has,” he added.
