Acer has announced a range of new Copilot+ laptops ahead of IFA in Berlin. The Taiwan-based Conglomerate has refreshed the TravelMate P6 14 AI with the new Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors and expanded its Swift line with four new AI laptops — Swift 14 AI, Swift 16 AI, Swift Go 14 AI, Swift 14 AI (SF14-61/T). The Swift Go 14 AI features a Snapdragon X Plus processor, while the Swift 14 AI and Swift 16 AI models are powered by either Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 5 processors. The Swift 14 AI (SF14-61/T),on the other hand, has an AMD CPU under the hood.

All five Acer laptops share features such as Acer User Sensing technology, and Windows Studio Effects. They come with AI-boosted conferencing tools like Acer PurifiedView 2.0 and Acer PurifiedVoice 2.0. Other features include Wi-Fi 7 capabilities and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. The Copilot+ AI features will be available on the new devices through free updates later this year.

Acer TravelMate P6 14 AI, Swift Series Prices, Availability 

The Acer TravelMate P6 14 AI has a starting price tag of $1,499.99 (roughly Rs. 1,25,900). It will be available in North America, and EMEA regions from January next year.

Price of Acer Swift Go 14 AI (SFG14-01) starts at $999.99 (roughly Rs. 83,000) while Acer Swift 14 AI (SF14-61/T) has a starting price tag of $ 1,199.99 (roughly Rs. 1,00,700). Both models will go on sale in EMEA and North America in September. They are confirmed to be available in Australia from the fourth quarter of this year.

The Acer Swift 14 AI (SF14-51/T) and Acer Swift 16 AI (SF16-51/T) price starts at $1,199.99 (roughly Rs. 1,00,700). The former will be available in North America and Australia in September. The Acer Swift 16 AI (SF16-51/T) will be available in North America in October, in EMEA in December, and in Australia in Q1 2025.

Acer TravelMate P6 14 AI Specifications

Acer’s new TravelMate P6 14 AI features a 14-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The panel comes in WQXGA+ (1,800×2,880 pixels) or WUXGA (1,200×1,920 pixels) options. It has Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors with inbuilt NPU. The new Lunar Lake laptop weighs under 0.99 kilograms and is one of the laptops in the Copilot+ PC segment with a lightweight build.

The TravelMate P6 14 AI is compatible with up to Intel Core Ultra 7 268V processor alongside Intel Arc GPU, up to 32GB RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and has a carbon fibre chassis. The laptop offers several AI tools like Acer Assist, Acer PurifiedView 2.0, and Acer LiveArt 2.0 among others.

It offers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 or above. For video calls, the laptop has a 1440p QHD IR Webcam with a privacy shutter. It houses a 65Wh battery that is claimed to offer up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. The laptop has MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability as well.

Acer Swift Go 14 AI, Swift 14 AI Specifications

Acer’s Swift Go 14 AI uses the new Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor and a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, alongside 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. It boasts up to 14.5 WQXGA (1,600×2,560 pixels) IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 350nits brightness.

The Swift 14 AI, in contrast, runs on an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor and Radeon 880M graphics. It carries up to 32GB RAM and up to 2TB storage. The laptop comes in three display options with up to 14.0-inch WQXGA (1,800×2,880 pixels) OLED display with 16:10 aspect ratio and 500 nits brightness.

Both models get a QHD IR 1440-pixel camera with a privacy shutter. For connectivity, they offer Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 or above, and support Bluetooth LE audio. They have dual speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio support.

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI and the top-end model of Swift 14 AI with OLED display packs a 75Wh battery that is said to offer up to 27 hours of video playback and up to 19 hours of web browsing on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Swift 14 AI laptop with a WQXGA panel has a 65Wh battery.

Acer’s Swift 14 AI and Swift 16 AI come with built-in AI capabilities as well. They can be configured with Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 5 Series 2 processors. The NPU AI performance is rated at 48 TOPS (trillion operations per second). A 1440p webcam, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4. Bluetooth LE audio and dual speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio are the other highlighted specifications of the new Swift models.

The Acer Swift 14 AI comes with a 14-inch 3K or 2K OLED IPS touch display. It runs on either Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 5 Series 2 processors and Intel Arc Graphics. The top-end model ships with Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor with a maximum 32GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. It features a 65Wh battery that is touted to provide up to 29 hours of video playback, and up to 23 hours of web browsing.

Acer’s Swift 16 AI can be purchased with a 16-inch 3K OLED screen or a 3K touch screen with edge-to-edge glass. It can be paired with either an Intel Core Ultra 9 or Ultra 7 Series 2 CPU alongside an Intel Arc GPU, up to 32GB RAM, and up to 2TB storage. The high-end version has an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V processor under the hood. It carries a slightly larger 75Wh battery.

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Solar Orbiter spacecraft has delivered the most detailed images of the sun’s surface to date. These images, taken in March 2023 from a distance of approximately 74 million kilometres, were released on November 20. They provide unprecedented insights into the photosphere, the layer of the sun responsible for emitting visible light. The photos reveal the intricate and dynamic patterns of granules—plasma cells roughly 1,000 kilometres wide—formed by convection as hot plasma rises and cooler plasma sinks.

Sunspot Activity and Magnetic Fields Analysed

The images highlight sunspots as cooler, darker regions on the photosphere, where intense magnetic fields disrupt the movement of plasma. The Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager (PHI) on board the Solar Orbiter produced detailed maps of these magnetic fields, identifying their significant concentration in sunspot regions. According to Daniel Müller, ESA Project Scientist for Solar Orbiter, these observations are essential for understanding the sun’s dynamic processes. The sunspots appear colder because magnetic forces restrict normal convection, causing a decrease in surface temperature.

New Data on Solar Rotation and Winds

A velocity map, known as a tachogram, has also been shared, illustrating the speed and direction of material movement on the sun’s surface. Blue regions represent plasma moving towards the spacecraft, while red areas show plasma moving away, revealing the sun’s rotational dynamics. Additionally, magnetic fields in sunspot regions were seen to disrupt the surface material further.

The sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona, was imaged by the spacecraft’s Extreme Ultraviolet Imager. Plasma loops protruding from the sun, visible in these images, are connected to sunspots and contribute to the solar wind. This solar wind, when reaching Earth, often results in auroral displays.

Future Missions to Study Solar Poles

The Solar Orbiter, launched in 2020 as a joint mission with NASA, aims to capture unprecedented views of the sun’s poles. These observations are scheduled for 2025, when the spacecraft’s orbit will align for a direct perspective. The recent imaging involved the assembly of 25 smaller images, a complex process now expected to accelerate for future releases.

Microsoft Outlook received new features for its app on Android and iOS on Monday. The features were introduced as part of app updates on both platforms. According to Microsoft, the Compose and calendar functionalities have been improved on its iPhone app whereas the update for its Android app brings enhancements to events, search, and calendar. Furthermore, bug fixes have also been rolled out for both platforms.

According to release notes, Microsoft Outlook for iOS adds the Report Message option to the swipe action list. It also brings the ability to use a local account in Office 365 Box, the company’s content cloud where users can securely store their files online and easily share them.

The Compose feature is also claimed to be updated and users can now resend messages from the Sent folder. Furthermore, Teams meeting chat can now be accessed from the event details in the calendar.

Microsoft Outlook Android app new features

On Android, the Outlook app update brings improvements to events, search, calendar and box. Microsoft says users can now search past events for up to one year, compared to the previous cap of six months.

Additionally, a Teams tab has been added through which Teams chat messages can be searched. When a message is selected, it will open up the same message in the Teams mobile app. Users who do not have the app will be redirected to the Google Play Store instead, Microsoft claims.

It also brings the same functionality to Compose and events as introduced on iOS. Microsoft says the update for Outlook for Android fixes an issue that prevented the single sign-on flow from succeeding for Microsoft 365 accounts in some cases.

These features were introduced with Outlook for Android and iOS app version 4.2418.0.

Microsoft Copilot on Telegram

In another recent development, Microsoft integrated its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Copilot with Telegram, with a limit of 30 turns per day. It enables Telegram users to converse with the chatbot, ask questions and browse the internet.

Currently, the feature is released in beta, although it has been made available to all users for free.

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 is not only a big leap in terms of design but also comes with a host of new features. Design and features aside, these are also the first commercially available earbuds specifically designed to let you summon and have a conversation with Google’s new Gemini Live virtual AI assistant. Some of these features, including the ability to speak to Gemini Live, are available on the older Buds Pro. However, Google has put its first-ever audio chip, called the Tensor A1, to use in other places. And the differences it brings are sure make the Buds Pro 2 a solid upgrade over the previous model.

The egg-shaped case appears the same as before. The texture of its polycarbonate shell still feels like the surface of an egg and is also equally good at picking up colours from the various surfaces you can place it on. In one instance, it even picked up the blue colour from my used jeans when I placed it in the small pocket. But there’s no need to worry, as a quick wipe with a tissue and some water makes it look as good as new.

There’s one new addition on the outside, and you will find it at the bottom of the case. Next to the Type-C charging port, you will find a second cavity which is for the speaker. This speaker produces a sound when you are looking for it via the Find My Device app. The sound is loud enough to be picked up in a large house or a quiet park, but not on city streets (especially in Mumbai).

The design of the Buds Pro 2 (right) has changed for the better

As for the earbuds, their new design is smaller and lighter than the previous Buds Pro, which now feels excessively bulky and heavy. The smaller design does not bulge out of my ear (which is useful if I fall asleep wearing them), and they fit a lot better because they have a smaller footprint. I had no trouble wearing the Buds Pro 2 for hours on end and almost forgot I was wearing them at times, which is unlike the Buds Pro, which felt heavy and obtrusive.

The stabiliser (winglet) ensures that the Buds Pro 2 remains in your ears even when jogging

The new (twist-to-adjust) winglet or stabiliser adds good support when running or moving around. But you have to make sure to try out all the silicone ear tips, as the medium ones left me with a nasty ear ache on day one. It turns out that I had to switch to the smaller tips when using Buds Pro 2. My regular go-to fit for earphones is medium tips.

One annoying detail about their design is that it’s hard to tell whether you have placed them correctly in the charging case. The odd design of the case also allows the buds to be placed in the wrong cavity. And once you have inserted them, you will quickly realise they have been placed incorrectly when you attempt to shut the case. I faced this dilemma several times and somehow wished the cavities that hold the buds in the charging case were designed better.

The Pixel Buds companion app works great on non-Pixel smartphones as well

The Pixel Buds app ensures that the essential features of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also available on non-Pixel smartphones. The app basically packages what is normally available in the Bluetooth Settings of a Pixel smartphone into a separate app for non-Pixel devices and is fairly easy to use. Apart from being able to adjust the equaliser, Multipoint and Audio switching settings, the app is also required for firmware updates on non-Pixel smartphones.

It’s finally easier to pull the Buds Pro 2 out of the charging case as they are a bit raised compared to the Buds Pro

I went through the app on a Pixel 9 Pro Fold (Review) and a OnePlus 12 (Review) and was not surprised to find a few features missing. Without a Pixel smartphone, users will not be able to enjoy features like Spatial audio in particular and the same goes for Head tracking that can be used along with the former.

Other than these two, all other features are accessible on non-Pixel devices by simply installing the app. The same, however, cannot be said about using the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with iOS-powered devices, as it only delivers the bare minimum (listening to music), so it’s best avoided unless you really have to.

The Hearing Wellness feature is a nice addition to the Pixel Buds app

It’s nice to see a Hearing Wellness section included in the app. It ensures that you do not go deaf while turning up the volume by alerting users about the same. The section in the app shows the Current level (in dBs) and also provides an Exposure report of the last 24 hours or past 7 days, which is nice to have.

Like the Buds Pro, the Buds Pro 2 also has touch and gesture controls, which worked perfectly during the review period without any issues. The buds also offer Active in-ear pressure relief, which will automatically adjust the pressure in your ears (when using the ANC feature) depending on whether you are in an aeroplane or a bus. The Audio switch feature also works well, provided you are signed into the same Google account on all of your Android devices.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 Performance and Battery Life: Impressive in more ways than one

The new Tensor A1 chip weighs in when using active noise cancellation (ANC). I found this to be very effective in blocking unwanted sounds during my day-to-day usage. I live right next to a main road in Mumbai, and things can get quite noisy. The ANC system for a pair of TWS earbuds is very capable of cutting off ambient sounds and also attempts to cut off higher-frequency sounds, which is good. However, it cannot cut out voices. Overall, the ANC system had improved drastically over the Pixel Buds Pro, which also produced a fine hissing sound when the ANC was turned on.

With the Pixel Buds Pro 2, Google claims to have focussed on delivering clean sound and it shows. There are some notable improvements over the older Pixel Buds Pro, but the Buds Pro 2 still cannot produce sounds as detailed as Sony’s WF-1000XM5. These are priced higher, so it’s kind of justified. For most casual listeners, the audio sounds bright, with an emphasis on the highs and some punchy but well-controlled bass. Listening to Chris Cain’s Down On The Ground, it is easy to tell the emphasis on the highs where the vocals stood out with the mids while the bass, while present, does not ruin it by taking over. This makes it all sound very enjoyable, almost like a live performance (in this case).

The balanced sound profile is a good start, and you can tweak the audio to your liking by selecting the preset profiles (plenty to choose from) or going with a custom EQ setting in the app. The Transparency mode works beautifully and feels perfectly natural, almost making me forget that I had the earbuds on.

Coming to voice quality, the new Tensor A1 will sound perfectly and naturally clear to the caller, but this only applies to quieter settings. In traffic or noisy/windy settings, audio sounds a bit garbled in the sense that you will be audible to the caller, but some words may get chopped short because of the heavy processing. What it can accomplish while doing all of this is suppressing background sound, and it does quite well.

Now that we are in 2024, it’s easy to conclude that Google was indeed testing the waters with its Buds Pro TWS when it came to assistants and AI. The Buds Pro introduced several Google Assistant features and added several more over the years via its Pixel Drop updates. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 is supposed to be a product that is specifically designed for AI from the ground up, just like the Pixel 9 smartphones.

Just like its predecessor, speaking out “Hey, Google” will let you accomplish a barrage of features using just your voice. Add a Gemini Advanced plan to the mix, and you can even ask for more complex queries like fetching unread emails in your Gmail inbox or even asking which emails you think you need to reply to.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, indeed! You can finally have a knowledgeable exchange or a fun conversation (like speaking to a friend) with Gemini Live, as in the movie Her from 2013. It is indeed both shocking and amazing that we have accomplished this in just over a decade of the movie’s release, and all you have to say is, “Hey Google, let’s talk”, without even reaching for the phone in your pocket.

Since I had detailed conversations with Gemini Live using both a Pixel 9 Pro Fold and a OnePlus 12, I can conclude that these conversations were more responsive on Google’s Pixel. And so, it does seem like a Pixel smartphone (especially a recent one) is a better match for these “smarter than usual” earbuds.

With no support for higher bit-rate Bluetooth codecs (just like the Apple AirPods Pro), the Pixel Buds Pro 2 easily delivers around two days of continuous listening with the case. The Buds Pro 2 can go on for a whole workday (8-9 hours) of listening with ANC on or a whole day (12 hours) with ANC off. As for charging, Google claims that 5 minutes of charging will keep the buds running for 1.5 hours. And yes, you can always let the case trickle charge on a wireless charging pad.

Pixel Buds Pro 2: Verdict

Google has finally managed to sculpt its Buds Pro 2 into a refined and polished product that many of us wanted it to be. And now, it’s finally here! While some features are reserved for Pixel smartphone owners, it’s now finally easier to recommend to non-Pixel users, provided you can swallow its Rs. 22,900 price tag.

For those not seeking any AI experiences from their earbuds, you are indeed better off going for a Sony (for better codec support and more detailed sound) or Bose’s (for better noise cancellation) offerings at this price point. But if you are a Pixel smartphone owner, now is the time to upgrade and close the AI-happy ecosystem loop, as the new Buds Pro 2 comes with fewer compromises than ever before.

Acer Predator Orion 7000 desktop and Nitro V gaming laptops were launched at the Global Press Conference (GPC) 2024 on Wednesday. The new devices boast specifications such as Intel Core 14th generation or AMD Ryzen 8040 series processors, Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics processing units (GPUs) and liquid cooling systems to deliver optimum gaming performance. The AMD variants get Ryzen AI, bringing AI-centric gaming features. In addition to the gaming laptops and desktops, the company also unveiled its first-ever handheld gaming PC, the Acer Nitro Blaze 7.

Acer Nitro V 16 and Nitro V14 Price

Acer Nitro V16 (2024) price starts at $1,299.99 (roughly Rs. 1,10,000) in North America. It will be available for purchase in October. Meanwhile, the Acer Nitro V 14 (2024) price starts at $1,099.99 (roughly Rs. 92,000). It will be available for purchase in September. Pricing and availability details for the Orion 7000 desktop haven’t been revealed yet.

Acer Predator Orion 7000 Desktop will powered by next-generation Intel Arrow Lake processors, paired with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. To manage thermals, it is equipped with a Predator CycloneX 360 system fan and a 360mm CPU liquid cooling system. The company claims both these technologies improve cooling efficiency by up to 15 percent.

In terms of storage, it comes with up to 6 TB PCIe M2 NVMe SSD, along with an additional SSD slot for expandable storage. Users can add up to 128 GB (32 GBx4) dual-channel DDR5 RAMs. For connectivity, the Acer Predator Orion 7000 is equipped with three USB 3.2 Type-A slots and one USB Type-C slot. It also gets a LAN port and three audio jacks.

Acer Nitro V 16’s top-end model sports a 16-inch IPS WQXGA display with a refresh rate of 180Hz and 400 nits of peak brightness. It is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 14650HX processor, up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, and up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM with dual-channel support.

The laptop gets up to 2 TB NVMe SSD storage. In terms of connectivity, it comes with a single USB Type-C port which supports Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort and USB charging, and two USB Type-A ports. It is backed by a 57Wh 4-cell battery. The Acer Nitro V 16 measures 361.24×278.4×24.74/25.46 mm in terms of dimensions and weighs 2.5kg.

The Acer Nitro V 14 features up to a 14.5-inch IPS WQXGA display with a 120Hz refresh rate, resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and 300 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the laptop can be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. it comes with support for up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM with dual-channel support and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage.

In terms of connectivity, it comes with one USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port and a microSD card reader. Acer Nitro V 14 is backed by a 57Wh 4-cell battery which is claimed to provide up to 6 hours of video playback.

All the laptops with Nvidia GPU get AI-powered DLSS 3.5 technology which brings ray reconstruction – a technique that further enhances the quality of ray tracing. Additionally, they also come with Copilot in Windows 11 for AI-related tasks. The Nvidia ADA Lovelace GPU architecture enables over 600 AI-accelerated apps and games.

After a strong box-office performance, Bagheera, the action-packed Kannada film directed by Dr Suri, is ready to make its OTT debut. The film, which had a successful theatrical run during the Diwali season, focuses on the story of an IPS officer who takes justice into his own hands. Netflix has officially confirmed that the latest movie is now available on Netflix. The movie is currently available in Telugu and Kannada. However, the company has also revealed that the movie will be available for streaming in Tamil and Malayalam regional langauges as well. That said, there is no information whether the movie will be available in Hindi langauge or not.

Achieving a significant Rs. 17.13 crore net within nine days of release, Bagheera has been a standout in the Kannada film industry, attracting a dedicated audience despite high-budget Bollywood competition from big releases like Singham and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Lenovo’s Yoga laptop lineup has included a 2-in-1 option for a couple of years now. Now, the company has brought the new Intel Core Ultra H-series processors to the Yoga 7i 2-in-1 variant, along with OLED displays and improved battery life. The new Yoga 7i 2-in-1 can also be called an AI laptop as it comes with a dedicated Copilot key.

After using the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 for more than a week, here’s what I think of the convertible laptop. While I’m not a fan of convertibles, be it laptops or cars, the Yoga 7i could be an option for those looking to get the best of both worlds – a laptop and a tablet.

Starting with the price, the Yoga 7i 2-in-1 is not too expensive, nor is it cheap. It starts at Rs. 1,01,990 for the variant with the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H CPU, a 14-inch OLED display with WUXGA resolution, and 16GB RAM. This is the variant that was sent to us for review.

There’s also a variant with the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, 14-inch OLED WUXGA display, and 16GB RAM priced at 1,19,990. Finally, you can get the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H option with a 2.8K OLED display and 32GB RAM for Rs. 1,29,990. All variants come with integrated Intel Arc graphics. The laptop has two colour options – Tidal Teal and Storm Grey. In the box, the Yoga 7i 2-in-1 also comes with the Lenovo Digital Pen and a 65W charger. We received the Tidal Teal variant.

Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Review: Design and display

Let’s talk about design. The Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 features an all-aluminium design with curved edges and rounded corners. There are no sharp edges anywhere on the laptop. The design language is also very minimal, with the lid carrying a small Lenovo logo and the Yoga branding. As this is a 2-in-1 laptop, I must talk about the 360-degree hinge. Lenovo says that they’ve reduced the hinge size, making it easier to open the lid with one hand. I found that to be true, but that’s also thanks to the reverse notch at the top for the web camera, IR sensor, and microphone. The hinge feels super durable, and I don’t think it should cause any issues in the long run. You also get a slight lift with the hinge when using the laptop in regular mode, and it also helps in better cooling.

You get plenty of connectivity options on the Yoga 7i 2-in-1, but the Power button is in an odd place

Moving over to the sides, the laptop has all the necessary ports that you’ll need. The power button on the laptop is placed on the right side edge alongside the microSD card slot and a USB Type-A (USB 3.2) port. The power button placement is not ideal, as I found myself pressing the button by mistake and locking the laptop when simply trying to lift it using the right edge. You’ll find an HDMI 2.1 port on the left edge, dual Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports, and a combo headphone port. The rear houses the exhaust vents.

The bottom of the laptop has two large grilles for cooling and rubber feet. The panel is removable and is made from 50 percent recycled aluminium. The laptop weighs 1.49kg and is 16.64mm thin at its thinnest. It is also rated to withstand 21 MIL-STD 810H durability tests, but I wouldn’t suggest dropping the laptop to find out. I did not find any flex on the lid or the back cover; everything is built solid.

In tent mode, the speakers face away from the user

Opening the lid reveals a keyboard and a large trackpad. The laptop has two speakers with grilles placed on either side of the keyboard. You get a 14-inch OLED display with slim bezels on all sides, 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, 60Hz, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display is glossy but offers 400 nits of brightness with 600 nits of peak HDR brightness. It’s fine indoors but not usable outdoors due to the glossy panel. The blacks are deep, and the colours are vibrant. It offers great viewing angles and barely any colour shift. It’s an excellent panel for watching content, photo editing, and even drawing. When talking about drawing, the display supports multi-touch, and you also get a Lenovo Digital Pen 2 to use as a stylus. The display is also Dolby Vision HDR certified and covers 100 percent DCI-P3 colour space. There’s also a 2.8K PureSight OLED variant with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In tablet mode, the touch input is excellent, and you can use multi-touch gestures supported by Windows 11, but I mostly used the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 in laptop mode. As a tablet, the Yoga 7i was a bit bulky for my taste, and I did not enjoy using it while walking around the house. You can use it in tent mode, but then the speakers are facing the wrong way.

The Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 has an excellent keyboard, and it’s kind of obvious that Lenovo also makes ThinkPad laptops, which are known for their keyboards. Typing on the 2-in-1 was a joy as the keyboard had enough key travel with good tactile feedback. The keys also have good spacing between them, so there’s no cramped feeling here. The laptop also has a dedicated Copilot key placed before the left arrow key. You can toggle the Copilot chatbot with just a press of the button. The keyboard is also backlit with two levels of brightness and an adaptive mode that can automatically dim or brighten the backlight based on the environment.

The Yoga 7i 2-in-1 offers a good typing experience

Lenovo has given two speakers on the laptop. The speakers are placed on either side of the keyboard and are, therefore, top-firing. They’re not super loud, but the quality is good. There’s no cracking, and you also get Dolby Atmos support. However, the placement is somewhat flawed, as the speakers move to the back when you’re using the laptop in tablet mode or tent mode. You’ll probably need to use headphones if you’re in a loud environment.

Below the keyboard, you get a large touchpad that supports multi-touch gestures on Windows 11. The clicks are good, and the surface is smooth. When in tablet mode, the touchpad and keyboard are also disabled automatically.

Moving on to the web camera, the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 has a full-HD camera and comes with a privacy shutter. The video quality is good, and you also get support for AI features such as Windows Studio effects and smart gestures. The notch housing the web camera also gets an IR blaster with support for facial login via Windows Hello.

Alright, let’s talk about specifications. The 2-in-1 laptop is well equipped and comes with either the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H or the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU. The chipset is paired with the integrated Intel Arc graphics. You can configure the laptop with up to 32GB LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and up to 1TB NVMe storage. Both of these are soldered, so no, you can’t upgrade RAM or storage.

In terms of connectivity, the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

The 360-degree hinge on the laptop seems durable

The laptop runs Windows 11 Home out-of-the-box and comes bundled with Office Home and Student 2021. There’s no special software here, but you get Copilot support with a dedicated key. It also features Lenovo AI Engine+, Windows Studio Effects, Smart Noise Cancellation, and a few other handy features. You also get the Lenovo Vantage software that lets you fine-tune the system as per your preferences. There’s Super Resolution, Dolby Atmos sound profiles, various modes tailored for different activities, three power modes, and features such as Flip to Boot that lets you turn on the laptop as soon as you flip open the lid, similar to an Apple MacBook.

Coming to the performance, the laptop is excellent for daily usage, content consumption, and some creative work. During my time using the Yoga 7i 2-in-1, I never ran into any major issues. 

You get excellent battery life from the laptop with regular usage

Multitasking on the laptop is also great, especially in tablet mode. The thermal management is also good, with the inbuilt cooling system doing a great job of keeping the heat to a minimum. However, there were a couple of times when the laptop would randomly run hot and turn on the fan without running any programs, but that’s probably a Windows 11 bug. Overall, the laptop offers very good performance.

Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Review: Battery life

The battery life on the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 is really good. Lenovo has packed a 71Whr battery inside. The laptop consistently delivered a day’s worth of usage with browsing, working with multiple tabs on Chrome, watching YouTube videos, streaming on Netflix, and some light photo editing. This was the case in both regular laptop and tablet modes, with tablet mode actually offering longer battery life.

The laptop comes with a manual privacy shutter for the web camera

The laptop comes with a 65W charger in the box that offers fast charging support. It takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge the laptop, and you get about 80 percent battery with just a 30-minute charge.

Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Review: Verdict

As I mentioned in the beginning, I’m not a big fan of 2-in-1 laptops, but if you’re looking for a powerful laptop that can also be used as a tablet, the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 is a good choice. Even the base variant, priced at Rs. 1,01,990, is a good option, and you’ll get excellent performance and long-lasting battery from the laptop. The OLED display is great for content consumption and creative work, but you can pay more and get the 2.8K OLED panel with 120Hz refresh for an even better experience. The only drawbacks are the speakers and the inability to upgrade storage. Overall, though, the Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 is an easy-to-recommend 2-in-1 laptop.
