Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu will be voicing Mufasa in Hindi and Telugu, respectively. Tamil actor Arjun Das will lend his voice to Mufasa in the Tamil version.
In addition to the iconic Mufasa, the film features a powerhouse lineup of voices for other key characters in all three languages. The voice cast for “Mufasa: The Lion King” (Hindi) has been revealed, with Shah Rukh Khan voicing Mufasa, Aryan Khan as Simba, and AbRam Khan as the cub version of Mufasa. Sanjay Mishra will voice Pumbaa, Shreyas Talpade will play Timon, Makarand Deshpande will lend his voice to Rafiki, and Meiyang Chang will voice Taka.

The film introduces an orphaned cub named Mufasa, a sympathetic lion named Taka, who is the heir to a royal bloodline and their epic journey alongside a diverse group of misfit characters. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film is set to release in Indian cinemas on December 20 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

During the chat, Denzel reflected on the Academy Awards night and said, “I think I had won the Golden Globe for Hurricane—see, I barely remember now, ain’t that crazy? But then, at the Oscars, they called Kevin Spacey’s name for American Beauty. I have a memory of turning around and looking at him, and nobody was standing but the people around him. And everyone else was looking at me. Not that it was this way. Maybe that’s the way I perceived it. Maybe I felt like everybody was looking at me. Because why would everybody be looking at me? Thinking about it now, I don’t think they were.”
‘I gave up. I got bitter. My pity party.’
He went on to add, “I’m sure I went home and drank that night. I had to. I don’t want to sound like, Oh, he won my Oscar, or anything like that. It wasn’t like that. And you know, there was talk in the town about what was going on over there on that side of the street, and that’s between him and God. I ain’t got nothing to do with that. I pray for him. That’s between him and his maker. I went through a time then when Pauletta would watch all the Oscar movies—I told her, I don’t care about that. Hey: They don’t care about me? I don’t care. You vote. You watch them. I ain’t watching that. I gave up. I got bitter. My pity party. So I’ll tell you, for about fifteen years, from 1999 to 2014 when I put the beverage down, I was bitter.”
Two years after this loss, Denzel finally won the Oscar for Best Actor for crime thriller Training Day. He had won the Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for Glory (1989). He has been nominated for the Oscar eight times.

Govinda was discharged from the hospital three days after the incident. The actor, a member of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, was accompanied by his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja.
He greeted media persons and fans with folded hands. “I was about to leave for a show in Kolkata. It was about 5 in the morning. Aur uss time par vo giri aur chal padi (and it just fell and went off). I was shocked by what happened and when I looked down, I saw a fountain of blood. Then I made a video and spoke to the doctor and got admitted,” he told reporters waiting outside his home.

New Delhi: Banks and gold loan companies are gearing up to introduce monthly payment plans for gold loans. This comes after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) underlined gaps in the current disbursal process, as per a report by Economic Times. The new system may require borrowers to start repaying both interest and principal through EMIs right from the start of the loan.
Lenders are also exploring the option of offering term loans secured by gold. Previously, gold loans allowed borrowers to make a one-time bullet repayment at the end of the loan term instead of following a fixed EMI schedule. Borrowers also enjoyed the flexibility to make partial payments whenever possible. This enables them to clear both the principal and interest before the loan’s maturity date.
What issues did the RBI identify in gold loan practices?
The RBI also stated concerns such as improper sourcing, flawed valuation, insufficient due diligence, poor monitoring of loan usage and lack of transparency in auctions. It also flagged shortcomings in tracking the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, applying risk weights, and rolling over loans with partial repayments.
According to the report, the RBI has made it clear that lenders should assess borrowers’ repayment capacity instead of relying only on the gold used as collateral. A senior banking official stated, “The regulator’s diktat is clear, it wants lenders to examine the payment capacity of borrowers and not solely rely on the collateral.” The official also noted that the RBI disapproves of rolling over loans with partial payments, as this could lead to defaults when repayments are due. “We are now structuring monthly payment options for gold loans,” the official added.
Banks had disbursed Rs 1.4 lakh crore in jewellery loans. This marks a significant 51 per cent increase compared to the 14.6 per cent growth recorded a year earlier. The gold loan sector has seen remarkable expansion in recent years. A recent ICRA report estimates that organised gold, provided by banks and NBFCs. This is set to exceed Rs 10 lakh crore in the current fiscal year. The reports suggest that this figure could reach Rs 15 lakh crore by March 2027.
Music maestro AR Rahman received the `XTIC Award 2024 for Innovation` from IIT Madras for directing the virtual reality film `Le Musk`.
The eXperiential Technology Innovation Centre (XTIC), an IIT Madras Institute of Eminence Centre in Virtual Reality and related fields presented the music composer A.R. Rahman with the `XTIC Award 2024 for Innovation`.
The Award was given in recognition of his visionary work on the Virtual Reality (VR) film.
While speaking to the media, he said, “So, It is very proud to have an institution like IIT in Chennai. We can see many people became successful from here. I came here when I was 13 years old. I did `Le Musk` thinking global experience should be explored from India. I received one award from Hollywood in LA and now I feel proud to get an award here.”
It was presented by co-inventors of Oculus Professor Steven LaValle and Professor Anna Lavalle who are visiting faculty at IIT Madras.
This award recognises exceptional contributions to advancing immersive technologies and storytelling globally.
On receiving the Innovation Award from IIT Madras, for directing the virtual reality thriller film `Le Musk`, AR Rahman shared, “Getting an award in Chennai is special. We constantly were looking for how could we push this understanding and not make the mistakes that people made earlier. The most important rule for me was making people comfortable.”
Speaking about the technology and innovations in the country, he added, “To make it we need special cameras. Whenever I go to Microsoft or Intel I think why next Apple or Nvidia not coming from India? The government needs to look into it. There is a lot more to do. I am crazy, I am putting all my money into this as a passion project. Many people can use VR for visiting Temples, and for even marriages.”
Earlier, AR Rahman unveiled the soundtrack for his immersive film `Le Musk`. The soundtrack has 12 different songs.

It is directed by A.R Rahman and presented at Cannes XR. While talking about the soundtrack launch, AR Rahman shared earlier, “Music is the heartbeat of Le Musk. It carries the soul of the film, guiding the audience through an emotional and sensory journey. The film is a labour of a lot of hard work and love, where we tried to push the boundaries of how we use technology to create something truly immersive and I am thrilled to finally share this soundtrack with the world and offer a glimpse into the world we`ve created.”
Collaborating on the 12 varied tracks with notable names, including Nora Arnezeder, Sana Moussa, Linda Lind, Mayssa Karaa, Hiral Viradia, Simona Gilbert, The Firdaus orchestra and the Budapest Orchestra, the soundtrack of `Le Musk` also marks the association with the award-winning music engineer Greg penny. `Le Musk` marks Rahman`s directorial debut. Speaking about showcasing the film globally, Rahman added, “We are in the process of setting up immersive experience studios across the world to bring Le Musk to audiences the world over. The film would not have been possible if not for my team who worked tirelessly to push the boundary of what was known to be possible.”
