Tateeree Phir Se: Badshah announces new version after backlash, says he has removed objectionable parts from song

Rapper-singer Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, popularly known as Badshah, sparked controversy over the release of his new song, Tateeree. As the backlash intensified, the singer issued an apology and shared that the song has been taken down from all platforms. On April 10, Badshah took to his Instagram account to announce that he will release a new version of the song in a few days, which will not contain any of the objectionable content. What Badshah wrote about Tateeree Phir Se

Taking to his Instagram account, Badshah released a note in Hindi. It began, “To the people of Haryana and to everyone around the world, over the past few weeks, we have listened to concerns raised by government officials, the women’s commission, social workers and others regarding our song Tateeree. Based on that, we have made necessary changes and removed any part that was considered objectionable. I respect this feedback and the sentiment behind it… Along with being an artist, our responsibility towards our society and culture is equally important.”

He added that he always tries to represent his roots, culture and people through his songs. “Tateeree Phir Se is a step forward in that direction. Your support, voice and faith has kept this song alive. I hope the new version also takes that spirit forward. Thank you to everyone who was part of this conversation, it helps grow as artists. Tateeree Phir Se will be released on April 14. Please listen, share and take it forward.”

A few days ago, Badshah apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) over his song Tateeree and pledged to work for women’s empowerment, including sponsoring the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections.

About the controversy

Tateeree is a Haryanvi hip‑hop single released on March 1, 2026, performed by rapper‑singer Badshah alongside vocalist Simran Jaglan. The song’s lyrics were written by Badshah, while the music was composed by Hiten, who also handled its production. The track blends contemporary rap elements with regional influences, and its official music video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu.

After the backlash, Badshah took to Instagram to issue an apology, saying he did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. The Haryana Police had also ramped up efforts against the controversial song Tateeree, taking down hundreds of links across social media platforms.

‘Closer to a break than ever’: Can NATO survive if Trump pulls the US out? | NATO News

United States President Donald Trump’s disdain for NATO allies dates back to even before he became president the first time. From anger over their relatively low defence spending to — more recently — threats to take over Greenland, the territory of fellow NATO member Denmark, the American leader has long left the alliance on edge.

But the decision of NATO allies not to join Trump’s war on Iran has deepened the fracture to unseen levels, say analysts. This week, Trump called their lack of support a stain on the alliance “that will never disappear”. Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany put it even more bluntly, hours later: The conflict “has become a trans-Atlantic stress test”.

That back and forth underscores a central question exposed by the Middle East crisis that experts say NATO can no longer put off: can the transatlantic alliance survive, especially if the US pulls out?

“There will be no return to business as usual in NATO, during neither this US administration nor the next one,” said Jim Townsend, adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security. “We are closer to a break than we have ever been.”

Trump can’t pull the US out of the alliance on a whim.

To formally do so, he needs a two-thirds majority in the US Senate or an act of Congress — scenarios that are unlikely to come to pass any time soon, with NATO still enjoying broad support among many legislators in both major American parties.

But there are other things Trump can do. The US has no obligation to come to the aid of allies should they come under attack. The treaty’s Article 5 states members’ collective‑defence obligation, but it does not automatically force a military response — and there is scepticism among allies over whether Washington would ever come to help.

The US can also move the about 84,000 American troops spread across Europe out of the continent. The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Trump was considering moving some US bases from countries deemed unhelpful during the Iran war and transferring them to more supportive countries. He could close down US military bases and cease military coordination with allies.

Since US security guarantees to Europe have undergirded NATO since its founding, such disengagement would do enough damage.

“He doesn’t need to leave NATO to undermine it; by just saying he might, he has already eroded its credibility as an effective alliance,” said Stefano Stefanini, former Italian ambassador to NATO from 2007 to 2010 and former senior adviser to the Italian Presidency.

Still, allies are not helpless. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine revealed the weakened state of European defence industries and their deep reliance on the US. That, coupled with the numerous diplomatic crises in the US-NATO partnership – including Trump’s threat to take control of Greenland – has pushed European allies to invest more in defence capabilities. Between 2020 and 2025, member states’ defence expenditure increased by more than 62 percent.

However, areas where Europe suffers from overdependence on the US include the ability to strike deep into enemy territory, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, space-based capabilities such as satellite intelligence, logistics and integrated air and missile defence, according to a report by the International Institute for Security Studies (IISS).

These challenges remain considerable. It will take the next decade or more to fill them and about $1 trillion to replace key elements of the US conventional military capabilities. Europe’s defence industries are struggling to ramp up production quickly, and many European armies can’t hit their recruitment and retention targets, the IISS report said.

Still, some experts believe a European NATO is possible. Minna Alander, an analyst at the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, says NATO has, over the years, become a structure for military cooperation between European countries.

“NATO can therefore survive the Iran war — and even a US withdrawal — as European members have an incentive to maintain it, even if in a radically different form,” Alander said.

For some, the deadline is 2029. That is when Russia may have reconstituted its forces sufficiently to attack NATO territory, according to estimates by Germany’s chief of defence, General Carsten Breuer. “But they can start testing us much sooner,” Breuer said in May last year, ordering the German military to be fully equipped with weapons and other material by then. Others estimate that Moscow could pose that threat as early as 2027.

And what about the US — would it do better without NATO?

According to Stefanelli, the former ambassador, the debate about NATO is often “twisted” to portray the alliance’s raison d’être as solely in function of protecting Europe from Russia, as a US favour to the continent.

NATO was a network of alliances born at the onset of the Cold War against the Soviet Union. For decades, the US fought to attract into the alliance as many countries as possible, treating those that refused as friends of the enemy.

Following the September 11, 2001, attacks on the US, NATO invoked for the first and only time Article 5 to rally behind Washington and sent troops to fight in Afghanistan. Thousands of servicemen died there, including nearly 500 from the United Kingdom, and dozens from France, Denmark, Italy and other countries.

And during the war in Iran, European bases were beneficial staging sites for the US military — even if many countries publicly distanced themselves from the conflict.

“NATO served US interests and Trump comfortably overlooks these aspects,” Farinelli, the former ambassador, said. “Europe has its own responsibility by not investing in defence and creating strong dependence, but thinking that NATO serves only European strategic interests is simply not true.”

IPL coaches’ potpourri: Mahela, Sanga, Hayden bring in varied styles, reminiscent of the way they played their cricket

It’s been almost two weeks since the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off in Bengaluru. The teams that have stood out so far are Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, the latter two the finalists from 2025. They all have been unbeaten so far.

Anyway, what we are discussing here is some of the interesting head coaches of the IPL teams. A head coach, given he is completely in charge, which comes from not having a larger-than-life captain, often dictates how a team plays. In many ways, it’s their signatures that their respective teams wear.

All of them are former cricketers, so more often than not, they coach just the way they played their cricket. Take, for example, Gautam Gambhir, who was feisty in his playing days and a proven knock-out batsman, has brought the same qualities to Team India now as a head coach.

Also Read: Lord help Delhi Capitals! Weak-minded Miller and Rahul can’t finish even if their lives depend on it

Every head coach brings a different flavour, and so many different styles adorn the league. Players quickly get credit for making the league what it is today, but when it comes to the important role of the head coach, sadly, it often doesn’t get highlighted in the same way.

Mahela Jayawardene, head coach of Mumbai Indians since 2025, was an elegant batsman in his day. He was soft spoken and beautiful on the eye. That’s exactly how he operates today as the head coach. In the lead-up to their opener, he had insisted that at Mumbai Indians, more than trophies, they care for how they do things and that they already have many trophies in their cabinet, which simply means there is no desperation in the camp.

Jayawardene’s former Sri Lanka team-mate Kumar Sangakkara is at the helm at RR, who have won all three of their matches so far and are at the top of the table. Sangakkara was much more aggressive than Jayawardene as a batsman, and exactly the same type of cricket is on display from RR. Left-handed batsmen Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal are particularly going to benefit from Sangakkara, one of the most attractive left-handed batsmen of all time.

RCB’s Andy Flower is considered the greatest Zimbabwean cricketer ever. In the 1990s and early 2000s, his name was taken in the same vein as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting. He was an inventive batter. He was the first batsman who reverse-swept with such extraordinary accuracy and consistency. RCB reflect his personality. Since 2024, he has transformed the franchise, and it has to be said that he was the mastermind behind the team winning their first-ever IPL trophy last season.

Hayden and Badani are contrasting but effective personalities!

Matthew Hayden is not the head coach. He is, in fact, Gujarat Titans’ batting coach. Fans from the 1990s and 2000s would remember how threatening and aggressive he was with the bat. He would walk down the wicket against really quick bowlers! Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, in particular, can learn a lot from him, being left-handed batsmen. Make no mistake, Hayden in the ranks means loads of aggression in the batting department.

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani, no disrespect to him, was an average cricketer and played very few matches for the Indian team. However, in a press conference in Delhi last month, he came across as somebody who thinks on his feet, somebody who was interested in newer trends and tendencies in cricket. He may look docile, but he is not. The way he stopped David Miller and asked Tristan Stubbs to walk into bat instead against Lucknow Super Giants was bold. And it proved to be a masterstroke. From 26/4, DC went on to win the game without losing another wicket.

So, as you can see, the IPL is a potpourri of all types of styles and characters in various coaching roles. No exaggeration, it only enriches the league, making it the very best in the world.

Mutual fund trends: Equity inflows jump 56% to Rs 40,450 crore in March; SIPs hit record high

Equity mutual funds saw net inflows surge 56% to Rs 40,450 crore in March, reflecting strong investor participation despite market volatility and geopolitical tensions, PTI reported. The inflow was the highest since July 2025, when equity-oriented funds had attracted Rs 42,702 crore.According to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), this also marked the 61st consecutive month of positive net inflows into equity schemes.“The surge in inflows reflects sustained retail engagement through SIP contributions, year-end portfolio allocations, and investors using recent market corrections as an opportunity to deploy incremental capital into equities,” Himanshu Srivastava of Morningstar Investment Research India said.Monthly SIP contributions rose to an all-time high of Rs 32,087 crore in March, up from Rs 29,845 crore in February, indicating continued preference for disciplined investing.Umesh Sharma of The Wealth Company Mutual said inflows increased following market corrections triggered by the West Asia conflict, which created more attractive investment opportunities.Within equity categories, Flexi Cap funds led with inflows of over Rs 10,000 crore, followed by Small Cap funds at Rs 6,263 crore and Mid Cap funds at Rs 6,063 crore. However, Dividend Yield and Equity Linked Savings Scheme (ELSS) funds saw marginal outflows due to profit booking and portfolio rebalancing.Venkat Chalasani, CEO of AMFI, said the trend reflects sustained investor confidence in long-term wealth creation. “India’s structural growth story remains strong, and investors continue to align their investments with long-term financial goals”.Despite strong equity inflows, the overall mutual fund industry recorded a net outflow of Rs 2.4 lakh crore in March, compared to an inflow of Rs 94,530 crore in February, largely due to a sharp Rs 2.95 lakh crore outflow from debt funds.March typically sees higher redemptions from debt schemes as companies withdraw funds to meet year-end obligations.“The net outflow is almost entirely driven by debt fund redemptions, which is a well-established quarter-end phenomenon in March,” said Nitin Agrawal, CEO, Mutual Funds, InCred Money. The outflows reduced the industry’s assets under management (AUM) to Rs 73.73 lakh crore at the end of March, from Rs 82.03 lakh crore in February.Hybrid schemes also saw net outflows of nearly Rs 16,500 crore, mainly from Arbitrage Funds, which alone recorded outflows of Rs 21,000 crore. In contrast, Multi-Asset Allocation Funds attracted inflows of over Rs 5,000 crore.Gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) received inflows of Rs 2,266 crore in March, lower than Rs 5,255 crore in February and Rs 24,040 crore in January, though investor interest remained positive.“The slower inflows in March likely reflect a combination of normalization after a very strong start to the year and some moderation in fresh allocations,” said Nehal Meshram of Morningstar Investment Research India.Debt fund outflows were led by Liquid Funds at Rs 1.35 lakh crore, followed by Overnight Funds at Rs 40,228 crore, Money Market Funds at Rs 29,207 crore, and Low Duration Funds at Rs 25,227 crore.Ankur Punj of Equirus Wealth said the outflow is temporary and inflows are likely to pick up again in the coming months, supported by India’s strong macroeconomic fundamentals and favourable equity valuations.

For the caption, Lopez wrote: “Twenty-something years later and I still think about Marisa Ventura. A single mom who moved through marble lobbies and thread-count sheets that weren’t hers…but carried herself like they could be.”

She revealed that Maid in Manhattan started as a script called “The Chambermaid.”

Lopez added: “ egt239 and I reached out to Wayne Wang and together we dreamed up a girl with her nose pressed to the snow globe of Manhattan. A girl from the Bronx, playing a girl from the Bronx, who dared to dream bigger than her zip code.”

She tagged herself as “so lucky” as she got to share that set with “Natasha Richardson, Bob Hoskins, Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, Tyler Posey and Amy Sedaris. What a movie. What a cast. What a time.”

Maid in Manhattan was based on a story by John Hughes, who is credited using a pseudonym. It stars Jennifer Lopez, Ralph Fiennes, and Natasha Richardson. In the film, a hotel maid and a high-profile politician fall in love. The film was a box office success.

It followed the story of a struggling singer-mother named Marisa Ventura, who works as a maid at a luxury hotel in the Big Apple to make ends meet. However, after trying on a designer coat of a guest, she is mistaken for a wealthy politician who falls in love with her.

Lopez made her acting debut in 1986 with My Little Girl and then she was seen In Living Color before shooting to fame with the 1997 biopic Selena.

NEW DELHI: Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis, who also played for Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, and Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru), praised young Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wicket-keeper batter Mukul Choudhary for his match-winning performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday. Playing at Eden Gardens, Choudhary scored an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls, hitting seven sixes and two fours to guide LSG to a thrilling last-ball win. Speaking on JioStar, Du Plessis admired not just his power but also his calmness under pressure, saying, “It’s incredible to see the awareness to take the game through. The power from the young man, unbelievable batting.”

He also compared Choudhary’s style to MS Dhoni, especially his flick shots, adding, “What a game of cricket, with lots of ebbs and flows, and stealing it towards the end. Some of the shots reminded me of watching MS Dhoni back in the day, especially those flick shots, so much power.”

Turning point for LSG

Du Plessis highlighted that such close wins can define a team’s season. He explained that moments like this can change momentum, especially when a young and relatively inexperienced player steps up and finishes the game. “You get little moments in the season where it can almost be defined… If that had just gone our way, the season would have looked a lot different,” he added. He added that LSG managed to win a match they could have easily lost, which could boost their confidence going forward.

KKR’s tough phase

On the other hand, KKR seem to be struggling with luck this season. With three losses and one match washed out, things haven’t gone their way. Du Plessis pointed out small mistakes, like missing easy runs in crucial moments, that are costing them games. “Those 50-50 moments are just not falling in their favour,” he said, stressing that teams need to stay sharp in key situations if they want to win tight matches.

Dhurandhar 2: Madras HC rejects plea to screen the film during TN polls

Amid the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, a Madurai resident had moved the Madras High Court seeking a restrain the screening of the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge during the elections. However, the Madras High Court, on Friday, dismissed a petition allowing the film to be screened.

Madras HC rejects plea to stop screening of Dhurandhar 2 during TN polls

A Bench consisting of Chief Justice SA Darmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan declined to grant any relief and dismissed the plea at the admission stage itself. Notably, the petition was filed by a Madurai resident and sought an ad-interim direction to restrain the exhibition of Ranveer Singh`s film Dhurandhar 2 in Tamil Nadu across all platforms, including theatres and OTT, until the election results are declared.

The petitioner argued that the continued screening of the film during the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) period would reportedly violate the principle of a “level playing field” in elections. The petitioner also argued that the film`s screening could potentially influence voters.

The petition contended that allowing the film’s release and exhibition during the sensitive period, like the election, would be contrary to the spirit of free and fair elections.

However, the Court was not inclined to intervene in the matter and thus dismissed the petition on Friday, April 10..

About Dhurandhar 2

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a recently released spy thriller film that has been distributed across theatrical and digital platforms. The film, released on March 19, has drawn attention in the run-up to the elections due to its perceived political undertones, which reportedly formed the basis of the challenge before the Court.

The film, helmed by Aditya Dhat stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles. The film has emerged as one of the biggest box office successes of 2026. The movie opened to record-breaking numbers during its opening weekend and quickly entered the Rs 500 crore club within just three days of release. Currently, it is enjoying its dominant run at the box office with over Rs 1,600 crores already in its kitty and counting.
