Shiv Sena-UBT crisis LIVE: Main meeting to be held at 11 am in Delhi today after party alleges offer of ₹50 crore to switch

Shiv Sena-UBT crisis live: An important meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) is going to be held in New Delhi today.

Shiv Sena-UBT crisis live: Speculations about a possible split within the Shiv Sena (UBT) have intensified after Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena claimed that six of the nine Lok Sabha MPs from the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction have signed a letter to form a separate group and eventually join the Shiv Sena.

The development comes nearly a week after 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs proposed a merger with the relatively unknown Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) and extended support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), thereby strengthening the ruling coalition in the Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, UP Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed a possible rift within the Samajwadi Party. However, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav rejected such claims on Wednesday and said that the party will remain united.

Is a split in Shiv Sena (UBT) imminent?

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged that promises are being made to party MPs in Maharashtra. 15 crore advance to cross Eknath Shinde faction. He said anyone who wants to step down should first resign and then return to the people for a fresh mandate.

“I got a call from an important person. He said that every MP was offered Rs 50 crore for leaving the party. Advance of Rs 15 crore was given. I was even told that MPs were not ready to board chartered planes unless they were given advance.

Speculations intensified after Uddhav Thackeray’s meeting at his residence in Mumbai recently. Reports revealed that only four of the nine Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs attended. However, the party later said that every MP was present.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders have said that all the party MPs are standing with Uddhav Thackeray.

The claims also came to light when several MLAs from the Shiv Sena (UBT) camp reportedly met senior Shiv Sena and BJP leaders.

Shiv Sena Union Minister Pratap Jadhav said it was only a matter of time before Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs switched sides.

Following Jadhav’s statement, Uddhav Thackeray asked all nine Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs to remain in Mumbai on Sunday. However, party MP Sanjay Raut described the gathering as a “regular” meeting.

BJP claims, later there was a split in Samajwadi Party

UP minister and SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed that a “major political realignment” is taking place within the Samajwadi Party. He also said that ‘the entire SP is ready to join BJP.’

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya also made a similar claim and said that 25-26 Samajwadi Party MPs are ready to change sides. The party currently has 37 MPs from UP.

Rejecting the allegations, Akhilesh Yadav said the Samajwadi Party will remain united and accused the BJP of having a record of instigating divisions through pressure and inducements.

“SP is united. It has seen many ups and downs in its journey. It is a strong party and will remain so,” he said.
