Mumbai-based Aamod Ghadge is the only boy from Maharashtra to be named in the 40-player shortlist for the sub-junior India U-18 men’s hockey camp and the boy is looking forward to doing well there with the hope of playing for India at the U-18 Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan. (May 29 to June 6)
Midfielder Ghadge, 15, who stays in Worli and studies at Dr Antonio Da Silva High School (Dadar), trains at the Republicans Sports Club after school hours. “It’s good to make the national camp but it’s a huge responsibility as I’m the only one representing my city and state. In the last 4-5 years, I’ve put in a lot of hard work to reach here. I want to give my best and achieve my dream of playing for India,” Ghadge, who took up hockey at the age of eight, told mid-day.
