The affected services include Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, as well as several Mail, Express and suburban services.
Passengers travelling to Delhi on October 9 or 10 should check their train status before leaving home.
Indian Railways has cancelled and rescheduled multiple train services ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest in Delhi on October 10, citing possible severe traffic congestion near New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations.
The affected services include Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, as well as several Mail, Express and suburban services.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Railways, trains departing from their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and scheduled to reach New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10 will be cancelled. A Northern Railway notice lists services connecting Delhi with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and other regions.
Major services affected include the Rajendra Nagar Terminal–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (12309), Sampoorna Kranti Express (12393), Amrit Bharat Express (22361), Kanpur Central–New Delhi Shatabdi Express (12033), Prayagraj Express (12417) and Shram Shakti Express (12451). Several trains operating on the Delhi–Haryana and Delhi–Rajasthan routes have also been included in the list.
Separately, the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12301) and Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12313), both scheduled to depart on October 9, have been cancelled.
Western Railway has rescheduled the Mumbai Central–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12951) and Mumbai Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express (12953) by five hours.
Meanwhile, West Central Railway’s Bhopal division has announced the cancellation of the Mumbai CSMT–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (22221) on October 9 for operational reasons.
The disruptions come ahead of the CJP’s proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The party has alleged irregularities in electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and accused Kumar of bypassing fellow Election Commissioners to modify Form 6, which is used to register new voters. These allegations have not been independently established.
Passengers have been advised to check updated train schedules through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), the railway helpline at 139 or official railway channels before starting their journeys.
