Kenstar ARC 3D50 BLDC cooler review: Efficient cooling without the bulk (HT Tech)

As someone who has used everything from standard pedestal fans to large desert CoolerI’ve always felt that most coolers come with compromises. They either take up too much space, consume too much water, or look out of place in a modern room.

While aesthetics alone shouldn’t determine a purchasing decision, it’s always nice when an appliance doesn’t seem out of place in your living room. (Shaurya/HT)

The Kenstar ARC 3D 50 BLDC immediately caught my attention as it seemed to address some of those issues. It’s relatively compact, comes with a power-efficient BLDC motor, and its design feels more contemporary than what you typically find in this category. After spending several weeks with it in a variety of weather conditions, here is my full experience.

Design and space efficiency

The first thing that stood out to me was the design. Traditionally, air coolers are bulky appliances that take up significant amounts of floor space. They often become the most noticeable item in a room, especially if you’re living in a small apartment or using them in a bedroom.

The Kenstar ARC 3D 50 BLDC takes a different approach. Despite offering a substantially large water tank, its footprint is surprisingly compact. It can be comfortably placed in a corner without making the room feel crowded, and this instantly makes it more practical for everyday use.

For people living in urban apartments where space matters, this is a real advantage. Even when it is placed near the bed, work desk or sofa, it does not feel intrusive. Compared to many of the traditional desert coolers I’ve used in the past, the overall form factor feels much more thoughtfully designed.

A cooler that doesn’t look like a cooler

Another aspect I appreciated was the visual design.

Most coolers are built solely for function and they rarely receive praise for their appearance. However, the ARC 3D 50 BLDC looks significantly more premium than the average coolers available in the market. The style feels modern and clean, making it easy to integrate into contemporary home interiors.

While aesthetics alone shouldn’t determine a purchasing decision, it’s always nice when an appliance doesn’t seem out of place in your living room or bedroom. Rather than looking like a seasonal appliance that only appears during summer, this cooler looks more sophisticated and better suited for modern homes.

Great performance in real-world conditions

Of course, the design only matters if the cooler performs well, and thankfully the cooling performance has been largely positive in my experience.

During the early weeks of summer, when the weather was relatively dry, the cooling effect was impressive. The air flow felt strong and the room became quite comfortable within a reasonable time. Sitting right in front of the cooler was especially pleasant, and even across the room, it was easy to notice the difference.

However, like most evaporative coolers, performance depends largely on environmental conditions. When humidity levels increased, the cooling capacity naturally decreased. This is not unique to Kenstar coolers. It’s just how air coolers work.

That said, even during more humid days, I felt a meaningful reduction in discomfort compared to using the fan alone. The room felt cooler and more bearable, even if the coolness wasn’t as dramatic as in dry conditions.

It is important to set expectations correctly. It’s not an air conditioner, and it doesn’t even try to be one. However, for those who don’t have AC or want a more affordable cooling solution, there is quite a difference between a regular fan and this cooler.

Energy efficiency is one of its greatest strengths

The primary reason for my interest in this cooler was the inclusion of the BLDC motor.

BLDC motors are known to be more energy efficient than conventional motors, and this advantage becomes especially relevant during the summer when cooling equipment often runs for several hours each day.

During my usage, I felt comfortable leaving the cooler on for long periods of time without constantly thinking about power consumption. If you are someone who is worried about rising electricity bills or want a cooling solution that can last all day, then this becomes a significant advantage.

In a market where energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important, the BLDC motor is one of the ARC 3D50’s strongest selling points.

Water consumption and everyday convenience

Another pleasant surprise was the water efficiency.

Many coolers require frequent filling, which can become annoying after a few days. In contrast, in my experience the Kenstar ARC 3D50 BLDC managed its water consumption quite well.

On average, I used the cooler for about five to six hours per day. Under those conditions, a filled tank would comfortably last about four to five days before requiring refilling. That level of endurance makes day-to-day ownership much more convenient.

Instead of constantly monitoring the water level or refilling water every day, I can simply use the cooler and forget about it for several days. For busy users, that feature adds significant value.

Areas where Kenstar can improve

Although the overall experience has been positive, there are some areas where I feel the product could be improved.

The first issue is the water level indicator. There is an indicator located below, but it only provides visibility up to a certain level. Once the water rises beyond that point, it becomes difficult to determine how full the tank is.

As a result, filling a cooler often involves stopping periodically, opening the back, and manually checking the water level. This isn’t a big problem, but it does seem unnecessarily inconvenient. A more comprehensive and visible water level indicator would make the experience more intuitive.

The second issue involves the wheels.

When the cooler is empty, it’s not particularly difficult to move it around. However, once the tank is completely filled with water, the wheels don’t move as smoothly as I would like. There is a slight dragging sensation, especially on some floor surfaces, which makes transferring less convenient.

Considering that the cooler is designed to be compact and portable, sleek and sturdy wheels would have greatly improved the overall user experience.

Finally, the glossy black front panel looks premium but comes with trade-offs. Dust and fingerprints tend to appear relatively quickly, meaning periodic cleaning is necessary if you want to maintain its glossy appearance.

final call

After using the Kenstar ARC 3D50 BLDC for a long time, I think it successfully delivers on most of its promises. Its biggest strengths are its compact footprint, modern design, efficient cooling performance, low power consumption and excellent water efficiency.

It is not complete. The water level monitoring system could be better, the wheels could be smoother, and the shiny finish requires regular cleaning. However, none of these issues are deal-breakers.

For anyone looking for a stylish, energy-efficient cooler that doesn’t dominate the room and offers a notable upgrade over a standard fan, the Kenstar ARC 3D50BLDC is a strong choice. It is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized rooms and users who want practical cooling without the costs associated with an air conditioner.

Overall, it strikes a good balance between performance, efficiency, and everyday usability, making it a cooler that’s easy to recommend.
