India beat Pakistan 3-0 to reach SAFF U20 semi-finals
India defeat Pakistan in SAFF U20 C’ship opener to secure semi-final spot

India delivered a dominant performance to defeat Pakistan 3-0 in their opening Group B clash of the SAFF U20 Championship on Thursday, sealing a place in the semi-finals with a game to spare. Forward Omang Dodum starred with a second-half brace, finding the net in the 64th and 88th minutes, after Vishal Yadav had put India ahead as early as the third minute. The victory ensured a perfect start for India and confirmed their progression to the knockout stage. Pakistan, meanwhile, were knocked out of the tournament after suffering their second straight defeat, having earlier lost to Bangladesh. India will now take on Bangladesh on Saturday in a match that will determine the Group B toppers. India started aggressively and nearly opened the scoring within two minutes. Vishal Yadav broke down the right flank and sent in a threatening cross for Dodum, but the chance went begging. The opening goal arrived soon after. Gurnaj Singh Grewal spotted Yadav’s run and delivered a lofted ball over the defence. Yadav controlled it well and saw his initial effort blocked, but reacted quickly to slot the rebound home with his left foot at the near post. The early breakthrough boosted India’s confidence, although Pakistan grew into the game and began testing the defence. They came close to levelling the score on two occasions, only to be denied by goalkeeper Suraj Singh Aheibam, who made two crucial saves. India capitalised on those missed chances in the second half, doubling their lead through a swift counter-attack. Samson Ahongshangbam carried the ball forward from defence before switching play to Rishi Singh Ninthoukhongjam. Rishi then set up Dodum, who beat goalkeeper Zulqurnain to the ball and headed it in. With a two-goal advantage, India controlled proceedings while Pakistan searched for a response. The Indian backline remained organised, restricting further threats. In the closing stages, Muhammad Junaid fouled Prashan Jajo inside the box, leading referee Virendha Rai to award a penalty. Dodum stepped up and converted emphatically in the 88th minute to complete his brace and seal the result. The convincing win gives India strong momentum heading into their final group match against Bangladesh.

Arjun Rampal's girlfriend Gabriella hits back at Shobhaa De's aricle criticising the 'Dhurandhar 2' actor for saying 'Bharat mata ki jai'

Arjun Rampal has been earning praise for his portrayal of Major Iqbal, an ISI officer, in Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, also starring R Madhavan, Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi. Arjun has been in the news also for his recent comments during an awards show. For those not in the know, Rampal reflected on the success of ‘Dhurandhar’ and recalled his tragic experience of witnessing the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. Arjun revealed that November 26 is also his birthday. He said at HELLO! Hall of Fame Awards, “On my birthday, I saw the horrors of 26/11 play out. In the morning, when I drove back home, I had to stop at least three times because I felt like I was going to be sick. When Aditya Dhar narrated the 26/11 sequence to me, I knew I was going to have my revenge, and that’s what I did with Dhurandhar. All I want to say is, Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

His closing line drew sharp criticism from Shobhaa De, who addressed it in her column for The Print, titled ‘Why Arjun Rampal saying ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ should worry Bollywood audiences.’ In her piece, she expressed concern over what she perceived as a changing ideological climate in the film industry.“The agenda is no longer hidden, it is brazenly out there. The narratives are being manipulated and rescripted to exclude all those who don’t subscribe to the ideology. Conversely, those who do are richly rewarded,” she wrote. She further added, “When stars start using platforms such as awards nights to display loyalty and demonstrate allegiance to filmmakers creating political myths for public consumption, it’s time for alert audiences to assert their rights and call out the manipulators.”

“Until then, perhaps movie awards will come with a caveat: Actors will be mandated to chorus ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai!’, glittering trophy victoriously held up to catch the spotlight.” The remarks quickly triggered reactions, with Arjun’s girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades hitting back in the comments section. She commented, “This is outrageous.” Many others also slammed De for this piece. A user said, “What’s the harm in saying “Bharat Mata ki Jai” thinking of being liberal and elite doesn’t mean we forget respecting nationalism.” Another one said, “She had earlier shown her support for Rampal and the film with a glowing Instagram post, writing, “Dhurandar day … saw it last night and have to say , it’s my favourite Hindi film of all time. @rampal72 patience, persistence and positivity, you’re always inspiring and always raising the bar . #adityadhar is a legend and @ranveersingh you’re a star . The casting is a masterpiece @castingchhabra each and every person in the film is epic.”Another person wrote, “What do you mean ‘over exaggerated Hindu Nationalist theme’ ? Since when did being a Nationalist become a bad thing?- I think your writing is itself exaggerated. Fire your author.” Someone said, “Wow. How does someone saying “Bharat Mata ki Jai” becomes problematic to you guys? This is literally nationalism, irrespective of any religious agenda. How does being patriotic to the country one resides in becomes a point of contention to a select few? This is seriously mind boggling.” A user said, “Since when has ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ become a threat to anyone or any community in our country? I am sure the khan’s @iamsrk @beingsalmankhan have always been and will always be the loudest to say ‘भारत माता की जय’” A person said, “Lol. Now you can’t say Bharatmata ki Jay in India. What a joke.”

US mortgage rates jump to 6.38% as Iran war rattles housing market| Business News

US mortgage rates jumped for a fourth straight week, reaching the highest point in six months and dampening prospects for the crucial spring season as the Iran war roils markets.

The average rate for 30-year, fixed loans climbed to 6.38%—the highest since September 2025 and up from 6.22% last week, according to data from Freddie Mac on Thursday. At the current 30-year average, borrowers with a $1 million loan would pay about $6,242 a month, not including insurance and taxes. That is up from $5,983 in late February when rates briefly dipped below 6% right before the Iran war began.

With the key spring selling season about to get underway, the spike in rates adds another reason for buyers to hesitate, compounding worries about everything from the high cost of gas and groceries to the prospect of AI taking their jobs. It’s too soon to know how the season will unfold, but the early read from home builders isn’t promising.

During a 24 March earnings call with analysts, KB Home lowered its full-year guidance for closings, citing the Iran war as a contributing factor.

“We saw pretty good sales results the first week of March,” Chief Executive Officer Robert McGibney said. “But the last couple of weeks have been a little softer than we would like to see or what we normally get this time of year.”

He added that the length of the conflict will determine consumer confidence, “but we feel that right now—it’s weighing on the consumer.”

To be sure, borrowing costs are still below the 6.65% average a year ago, but that gap is shrinking. Signs of a weak housing market were visible even before the conflict erupted almost a month ago. Home prices in February were little changed from January, the slowest monthly growth in seven months, according to seasonally adjusted data from brokerage Redfin.

The weak market could give some buyers negotiating power, as long as they have the income and fortitude to plow ahead, according to Redfin Principal Economist Sheharyar Bokhari.

“Homebuyers in many markets are having success asking for discounts and other concessions, and they have the luxury of time because they aren’t facing much competition,” Bokhari said.

Legal row: Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa under scrutiny as Kaithi makers move Mumbai HC

Ajay Devgn has landed in legal trouble as the makers of the original Tamil film Kaithi have approached the Bombay High Court, alleging violations related to the remake rights of Bholaa.

Dispute between Kaithi and Bholaa began in 2019

The dispute has been initiated by Dream Warrior Pictures, the production house behind Kaithi. According to reports, the company has claimed that it holds the sole copyright and remake rights to the 2019 hit film. The production house had earlier entered into agreements regarding the Hindi remake, which later became Bholaa.

However, the producers now allege that certain financial obligations tied to the remake rights agreement were not fulfilled. As per their claims, only a partial payment was made, while the remaining agreed-upon amount including additional tranches and variable payments linked to the film’s earnings remains unpaid.

The issue escalated after multiple attempts by the original producers to resolve the matter reportedly went unanswered. Following this, they issued a legal notice demanding dues along with interest, warning that failure to comply would lead to termination of the agreement and reversion of rights.

When the dispute was not resolved, Dream Warrior Pictures moved legal forums, initially approaching the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). However, the tribunal dismissed the plea, stating that contractual and intellectual property disputes should be addressed in civil courts.

Further proceedings in the case

Subsequently, the producers filed a commercial intellectual property suit in the Bombay High Court. In their plea, they have sought an injunction to restrain the makers including Ajay Devgn’s production banner and associated companies from distributing, streaming, or monetising Bholaa and any related content. They have also requested damages and a formal declaration that the agreement stands terminated.

On the other hand, the defence has reportedly argued that jurisdiction over the matter lies with courts in Chennai, as per the original agreement terms. The matter has since been heard by the court, with the judge reserving the order on the issue of jurisdiction.

The controversy has once again highlighted the complexities involved in remake rights within the film industry, especially when multiple parties and agreements are involved. As the legal battle unfolds, the outcome could have significant implications for how such contracts are structured and enforced in the future.

Pakistan Super League 2026: Hyderabad Kingsmen trolled after ball colour changes to pink in opener vs Lahore Qalandars

Hyderabad Kingsmen were trolled after the ball changed colour during their Pakistan Super League opener against defending champions Lahore Qalandars. On Thursday, March 26, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the white ball turned pink after Marnus Labuschagne’s Hyderabad were asked to bowl first.

The Hyderabad bowlers appeared to use their jerseys to maintain the ball’s shine, and it is believed the colour transferred from there. The maroon dye from Hyderabad’s kit rubbed off on the white ball, giving it a pinkish shade. Fans, meanwhile, mocked the franchise over the poor quality of their jerseys.

Several fans joked that the world had witnessed the first-ever pink-ball T20, while others questioned the league’s standards, calling it a “gully-level” tournament.

Here’s how fans trolled Hyderabad Kingsmen

After being asked to bat first, Lahore Qalandars posted 199 for six, riding on Fakhar Zaman’s half-century. The left-hander scored 53 off 39 balls, hitting 10 fours and giving the Qalandars early momentum at the top.

Later, Haseebullah Khan chipped in with a 40-run knock, while Sikandar Raza’s quickfire 24 helped Lahore finish just one short of the 200-run mark. For Hyderabad, Hassan Khan and Riley Meredith picked up two wickets each.

PSL’s early troubles

The PSL has hit turbulent waters even before the tournament could gain momentum. Originally scheduled across six venues, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Peshawar, the 44-match tournament was scaled down to just two cities, Lahore and Karachi, after the Pakistan Cricket Board revised plans amid the ongoing fuel crisis.

The PCB also confirmed that all matches would be played behind closed doors, with no spectators allowed, and the opening ceremony was scrapped to reduce costs and movement. The decision came in response to rising oil prices and government austerity measures, with officials keen to limit travel and public gatherings.

For a league that expanded to eight teams this season, the optics have been poor, with fans mocking the competition online and dubbing it the “Petrol Shortage League” even before the cricket could take centre stage.

Mandana Karimi slams Boman Irani for ‘suddenly’ speaking about Iran in Donald Trump satire: ‘Where was this voice?’

Actor-model Mandana Karimi, who was born Manizhe Karimi in Tehran, Iran, has been vocal about being on the US and Israel’s side since the West Asia conflict began. When Boman Irani made a satirical video about US President Donald Trump wanting to meet ‘Iranis’ to broker peace talks, she slammed him in the comments for being Parsi and not speaking up sooner. Mandana Karimi slams Boman Irani for not speaking up sooner

Under Boman’s video on Instagram, Mandana wrote, “Boman Irani sir … suddenly you have a lot to say about Iran.Interesting timing. For years, Iranians have been getting arrested, executed, silenced. Thousands killed. Families torn apart. And people like me we’ve lived it. We’ve spoken about it. But now … there’s a video. Now there’s concern. Now there’s humor about gas, about Trump, about “come to my house.””

She also added, “Sir, with all respect you and the Parsi community come from Iran. You carry that history. That fire. So where was this voice when Iranians were dying? And now suddenly because it affects gas, politics, global talks there’s commentary? I mean … slow clap. Really. From silence to satire – that was fast. Anyway … just an observation.”

While Boman did not respond to her comment, many others left her comments like, “darling it was just satire,” and “Crazy how people who haven’t lived in Iran for years suddenly become experts on ‘regime change’ conveniently aligning with US/Israel narratives too.” Explaining why she slammed him, she wrote, “And when someone ignores mass deaths, executions, and oppression but shows up for gas prices? That’s hypocrisy. Simple. But sure… now we care, right? Javid Shah. Payandeh Iran. (Long live the King. Long live Iran).”

Mandana also pointed out that she was born in Iran and lived under the current regime for 18 years, stating that she has ‘been arrested’ and ‘violated’. “I’ve lived through things you will never fully understand,” she wrote, slamming the naysayers, pointing out how her family still lives there.

What did Boman Irani say?

Boman took a hilarious dig at Trump in an Instagram video, where he said, “So, as you may know, it’s going viral that Mr Donald Trump wants to speak to the Iranis. And three people have been beckoned. Talks are happening with Smriti ji, Aruna Irani ji, and me, Boman Irani. So, I am ready. I am ready to do anything for peace.”

He also joked about feeding the US president dhansak, custard and other Parsi food at his Dadar Parsi Colony home if he flew down from Washington and brought along a ‘big cylinder’ amid the looming LPG crisis. Several actors commented under the video about how hilarious the video was.
