Malayalam ZEE5 is set to introduce its next original series, Kasaragod Embassy, a high‑intensity crime thriller that unfolds in a sharply crafted world of ambition, tension and unexpected danger. Spanning seven gripping episodes, the series brings together a mix of suspense, character‑driven drama and a deeply immersive atmosphere that keeps viewers on edge. The trailer of the upcoming series was launched by superstar Mammootty`s production house Mammooty Kampany. 

About Kasargod Embassy

Directed by Atish M. Nair and produced by Legendary Movies, the series features a compelling ensemble cast including Abu Salim, Govind Pai, Rony David, Sudheesh, Kabir Duhan Singh, Deepak Parambol, Arjun, and more.

At its heart, Kasaragod Embassy tells the story of two cousins whose desire for a better life pulls them into a dangerous world of forged identities, high‑risk deals and shifting loyalties. What begins as a small step to escape their circumstances spirals into a chain of events that challenges their bond, tests their conscience and threatens their survival. With every choice they make, the consequences grow sharper, drawing them deeper into a network far beyond their control.

Kabir Duhan Singh on the upcoming series

Actor Kabir Duhan Singh said, “What stood out for me in Kasaragod Embassy was the narrative’s realism and the way every character is written with restraint. My role, Dammanna, is powerful not because he is loud, but because he knows how to impose fear quietly. It’s a character built on silence, calculation and impact, and I’m glad viewers will get to experience this world on ZEE5.”

Actor Deepak Parambol adds up, “Vivek represents the outside world trying to make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Every scene with him carries a little tension, because the audience knows more than he does. That contrast between curiosity and danger is what makes the character engaging to play.”

Hollywood actress Rachel Zegler spoke about the backlash she faced for playing Snow White in Disney’s 2025 live-action remake.

Because of her Colombian heritage, Zegler told Harper’s Bazaar, she faced aggressive pushback from conservative circles, who believed that the title role of Snow White must be played by a white woman.

She said the experience was “really confusing,” considering she also faced backlash for playing Maria in 2021’s West Side Story because her father was white, reports variety.com.

“I was told I wasn’t enough of one thing for West Side Story and too much of another for Snow White,” Zegler said.

“I grew up proud of being Colombian,” she later added. “Eating the food, wearing the dresses, drinking the coffee, doing all the things that were so intrinsic to who I was as a kid and who I am as an adult — but I do think there’s an argument to be made that, in the public eye at least, when you’re two things, you’re simultaneously nothing. But I refuse to assimilate for anybody else’s comfort.”

Rachel on the backlash she faced for supporting Palestine

Zegler also faced backlash for posting on social media in support of Palestine while on the Snow White press tour. Although she still stands by her decision to use her platform to promote social change, she now sees the controversy as “a complete study in intent versus impact.”

“You live, and you learn, and there’s a caution that comes with that,” she said, reports variety.com.

“There’s an understanding that the temptation to speak doesn’t always mean that it must be done, and that there are a lot of opportunities to make more meaningful change than a tweet.”

In 2024, days after unveiling the first trailer for Snow White at a D23 fan event, Zegler took to X and thanked her fans for all their support. Then, in the same thread minutes later, she wrote, “And always remember, free Palestine.”

Zegler went on to admit that the backlash from the post was completely unexpected. “If I’d been able to predict everything that would come my way, the threats to my safety, I would have just thrown my phone into the ocean,” Zegler said. “I think any sane person would have.”

As he is facing a lot of backlash for his latest track titled Tateeree, singer Sona Mohapatra too has taken a sharp dig at rapper Badshah, criticising what she described as the repeated use of misogynistic tropes in pop music and calling on artists to take greater responsibility for the cultural influence they wield.

Without holding back, Sona wrote on Instagram that such content was “not the first time we`ve seen this template,” referring to a pattern where a male performer “puffs up his chest, flexes masculinity, objectifies women and projects himself as some irresistible hero while women exist merely to drool around him.”

She wrote: “Not the first time we`ve seen this template. A man puffing up his chest, flexing masculinity, objectifying women, and projecting himself as some irresistible hero while women exist merely to drool around him.”

She further mocked the lyrical swagger she believes dominates such songs, describing it as “‘tu mujhpe marti hai, mujhpe jaan chidakti hai’ type of flights of rubbish swag,” adding that it reflects the “laziest trope in pop culture” rather than genuine creativity.

Sona said that simply calling oneself a “son of Haryana” does not justify problematic portrayals. “And just calling yourself a `son of Haryana` with a sad face doesn`t cut it.”

She pointed out that Haryana already struggles with serious gender issues: Haryana already battles some of the country`s worst gender ratios, violence against women and honour killings. Cultural influence carries responsibility?”

She concluded: “Artists shape imagination. You can challenge misogyny or profit from it. BADSHAH & this lot, do better. those of you fashion victim wannabes paying for this shit.. grow a brain or a soul?

The singer went on to caption the post: “& now young girls in uniforms as props …Stop with this brain & soul rot. India deserves better.”

About the Tateeree controversy

Badshah was recently served a notice by the Haryana State Women`s Commission, asking him to appear before them on March 13 to record his statement. The notice was issued after the complaint of Savita Arya, president of Nari Tu Narayani Sanstha, Panipat, and Shiv Kumar, head of Shiv Aarti Foundation.

In the complaint, they objected to the line “Aaya Badshah doli chaddhane, in sabki ghodi banane”, claiming that the song used filthy language and featured minor girls in school dress boarding a Haryana Roadways bus and throwing school bags.

Badshah, on March 7, broke his silence in the matter, saying that he himself is a proud Haryanavi and did not wish to show any child or woman in a bad light through his song. He further pointed out that he comes from the Hip-Hop genre, where the lyrics are often meant to bring down the opponent.
