Australia to play ODIs in Bangladesh for the first time in 15 years; full schedule out
For the first time in 15 years, Australia will play an ODI series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh in June later this year, Cricket Australia confirmed on Friday.
In all, there are going to be six white-ball matches — 3 ODIs and 3T20Is. The last time the Aussies played an ODI in Bangladesh was in 2011. Australia had toured the sub-continent nation in 2021 too, but at that time, there were no ODIs as part of the schedule. They played a five-game T20I rubber, and they lost it 4-1.
“With the tour to also include three T20I fixtures, a fresh broadcast rights agreement struck this week will mean there is no repeat of Australia’s previous tour, which was blacked out to Australian viewers, making this the first men’s white-ball bilateral series in Bangladesh that has been viewable in Australia since 2011.
“Australia will play three ODI matches in Dhaka from June 9 followed by three T20Is in Chattogram from June 17, in a trip that will last less than a fortnight but is part of a wider subcontinent tour,” Cricket Australia wrote.
Australia will travel to Bangladesh from Pakistan after an ODI series there that kicks off on May 30. However, the detailed schedule for that rubber is not out yet. The 2026 IPL final will be played on May 31, so it will be interesting to see whether or not they decide to field their A side in Pakistan for the first game. In light of IPL’s reputation and the players’ commitment to it, some of their top players might be allowed to finish the league before they can fly to Pakistan.

“We’ve got a batch of camps in May, before the Pakistan and Bangladesh white-ball series (and we’re) focused pretty intently on which players we’re going to get there at the moment,” Cricket Australia selector George Bailey said earlier this month, at the time when the new national contracts for Aussie players were announced.
In 2011, Australia played three ODIs in Dhaka and won all three matches. Allrounder Shane Watson played a remarkable innings of 185 not out off 96 balls in one of the matches. He hit a whopping 15 sixes. It was also the first time Michael Clarke captained the Aussies. The series was held right after the World Cup which India had won.

Matka King: Kritika Kamra on experiencing Mumbai of the 60s and 70s
Actress Kritika Kamra, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming streaming show Matka King, has shared her experience of witnessing and working in Mumbai of the 1960s and the 70s.
Matka King follows the story of a gambling lord, played by Vijay Varma, who undergoes a meteoric rise in the 1960s and 1970s in Mumbai. The cotton mills of Mumbai play an important part in the show and its narrative.
Kritika essays the role of Gulrukh, a Parsi woman, who acts as a catalyst to the evolution of the game of Matka. The actress spoke with IANS during the promotions of the show and shed light on making her way around a story set back in time.
She told IANS, “See, the world was already created through the story. So, you are already inhabiting that world as an actor. As soon as you go on the set, as soon as you enter that costume, you enter that world. That`s a gateway to go into it. And, of course, there`s a language of that era. There is stability in that era, things move slow because the technology is not fast. There is the analog world”.
She further mentioned, “At one point, Matka`s numbers also start coming on the phone in the show. So, that was very interesting because at many places, we had to also pretend that there was no sound because at that time, there was no sound. And there was an operator. I don`t think Gen Z will even know these words. Back then, people used to connect lines manually. A whole department used to do that”.
“We don`t know how it happens today because the technology has gone so far ahead. So, there were such interesting things that belonged to the era before my time. So, I find it fascinating. It was fascinating to be around it. But I think the people and the psyche of people and our addiction to hope, we can still understand that and portray it”, she added.
Matka King skillfully blends the technology of its time with the show’s narrative and acts as a vehicle to tell the story.
The show is set to drop on April 17 on Prime Video.

Christopher Nolan calls The Odyssey a `nightmare in all the right ways`
Auteur Christopher Nolan has shared that his upcoming film The Odyssey was a “nightmare to film, but in all the right ways”.
The 55-year-old filmmaker`s upcoming blockbuster brings Homer`s epic ancient Greek story to the big screen and he explained that he had an “amazing time” shooting the movie during a hectic production process across Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland and Scotland, reports ‘Female First UK’.
Speaking at a presentation for The Odyssey at CinemaCon, Nolan said, “This has been a nightmare to film, but in all the right ways”.
The Oppenheimer director reserved praise for The Odyssey`s leading man, Matt Damon, whom he referred to as his “partner on this journey”.
Nolan shared, “He was there on the boats, up the mountains, in the caves, in the beating sunshine, sideways rain, wind. You`ll be pleased to know how difficult it was. It was meant to be; that`s the nature of the story”.
As per ‘Female First UK’, the attendees at CinemaCon in Las Vegas got an extended glimpse of The Odyssey, which will be released in July, and Nolan explained that he decided to adapt Homer`s story for the cinema because it “has fascinated generation after generation”.
The auteur said, “Why The Odyssey? The Odyssey is a story that has fascinated generation after generation for 3,000 years. It`s not a story. It`s the story”.
The picture tells the story of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, and his long and perilous journey home to reunite with his wife Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) following the Trojan War and Nolan quipped that the film`s cast, which also includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya and Charlize Theron, is so talent-filled that he couldn`t bring all of the stars to CinemaCon.
The director said, “How do you go about bringing this to a modern audience? Obviously, we start with the cast. It`ll be quicker for me to tell you who isn`t in the movie. I would have brought them all here, but the massive weight of extraordinary talent would have collapsed the stage”.
The Odyssey is Nolan`s first movie to be shot entirely with Imax cameras.

In the IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai Indians (MI) emerged victorious by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
During the match, MI`s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock delivered an unbeaten knock of 112 runs off just 60 deliveries, laced with eight boundaries and seven maximums.
Speaking about the South African, former Team India cricketer Sanjay Bangar said that it came as a surprise for him that the left-handed batsman was not included in the mix for the team`s initial matches.
“I was a bit surprised to see Quinton de Kock not being utilised more prominently because he’s a proven match-winner. When he gets going, he has the ability to win games on his own, and his record in T20 cricket reflects that,” he said on JioHotstar.
He also feels that MI`s think tank needs to take tough calls to find the right balance.
“Mumbai Indians need that kind of impact at the top. It might mean making tough calls, even looking beyond Ryan Rickelton, to get the right balance in the XI. They also need to ensure their overseas combination complements the Indian core, and someone like Will Jacks, when he comes in, could add that extra energy and intent to the line-up,” said Bangar.

Batting first in the match, the hosts posted a total of 195 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock smashed an unbeaten 112 runs off just 60 deliveries, laced with eight boundaries and seven maximums. Former tennis world No 1 Novak Djokovic is still working through the injury problems that forced him to miss recent tournaments and said on Friday that he will not feature at next week’s Madrid Open, one of the last stops before the French Open.
The 38-year-old has played only two tournaments this year, the Australian Open in February and the Indian Wells in March, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of the French Open, which begins in Paris in about a month.

“Madrid, unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete this year. I’m continuing my recovery in order to be back soon,” Djokovic, who has struggled with a shoulder issue, wrote in a post on X.
The Serb told Spanish broadcaster Movistar+ at a EuroLeague basketball game in the Spanish capital on Thursday that he was “struggling physically a little bit with an injury” but expressed hopes of playing in the tournament.
Djokovic, now fourth in the ATP rankings, lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final in February and pulled out of the Doha Open later that month due to fatigue.
He fell to Jack Draper in the Indian Wells fourth round in March before skipping the Miami Open in the same month due to a right shoulder injury.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion then skipped last week’s Monte Carlo Masters before arriving in Spain to begin preparations for the April 22-May 3 Madrid Open.
The draw for the Madrid Open – where Djokovic is a three-time champion – will be held on Monday.
Djokovic is next scheduled to compete at the May 6-17 Italian Open in Rome, before bidding for a record 25th Grand Slam title at the French Open, which begins on May 24.
