As the Gujarat Titans (GT) gear up for their high-stakes clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the spotlight has shifted from the pitch to the dugout. The recent appointment of former Australian legend Matthew Hayden as batting coach has sent ripples through the franchise, with players already reaping the rewards of his “incredible wealth of knowledge.”
Speaking ahead of the Friday night encounter, GT’s versatile middle-order spark Glenn Phillips opened up about the transformative impact Hayden is having on the squad’s mental approach.
The Hayden Factor: Process over Outcome
For Phillips, the opportunity to work with a man of Hayden’s stature is less about technical adjustments and more about mastering the “mental skills” required to survive the IPL’s pressure cooker.
“Matthew is an incredible wealth of knowledge,” Phillips remarked. “He was a very process-driven player back in his heyday. For me, being able to pick his brain has been mainly around the process and mindset piece he used to go out there with.”
Phillips emphasized that while the era of cricket has changed, the psychological demands remain identical. Hayden’s primary focus has been helping players find their “process zone”—that elusive mental state where performance becomes instinctive. “In a tournament like the IPL, where momentum and confidence is key, trying to find a way to stay level and confident the whole way through is vital. He’s been phenomenal for that,” Phillips added.
Role Clarity over Personal Glory
While the arrival of a batting coach often brings pressure to produce “big scores,” Phillips was quick to defend his role within the GT setup. Often utilized as a finisher or a situational floater, the New Zealander explained that his personal success is measured by team impact rather than individual milestones.
Addressing questions about converting cameos into hundreds, Phillips pointed to the tactical reality of his position. “I’ve been in completely different situations… coming in with six balls to go. It’s pretty hard to score big in those environments,” he noted.
For Phillips, the “Hayden mindset” is about selfless contribution. “If it means I need to go in with four balls to face, hopefully, I can hit a boundary. If we have a tough pitch where I need to knuckle down, hopefully, we can kick on. It’s about being as consistent as possible in whatever role I’m given.”
With GT hunting for their third consecutive win on Friday, April 17, the synergy between Hayden’s legendary experience and Phillips’ explosive adaptability could be the edge they need against KKR’s formidable spin attack.
I no longer view smart cameras as gadgets. I see them as tools that answer a simple question: What’s happening at home when I’m not there? Over the past few years, I’ve tested many setups in small flats and larger homes, and one thing is clear – setup has become simpler, and control now sits entirely on your phone. You no longer need complicated wiring or constant supervision.
Now you can monitor rooms, receive alerts, and stay connected with these smart cameras without any complicated setup or effort. (pexels)

Smart cameras today connect to Wi-Fi or mobile networks, send alerts in real-time and let you view live footage from anywhere. Whether you’re tracking deliveries, keeping an eye on kids, or checking on pets, these tools reduce uncertainty. Some models are also connected to voice assistants and other smart devices, so your home reacts based on activity.
Another change I noticed is in video clarity and detection. Cameras now record in higher resolution, and many can tell the difference between a person, a pet, or general activity. This helps avoid frequent false alerts. Night monitoring has also improved, with many models now offering both infrared and color modes.
If you’re planning to install a camera for the first time or upgrade your current setup, here are five options that stand out based on features, usefulness, and price.
This smart camera works well for indoor use where coverage of the entire room is required. It offers 3MP resolution (2304×1296) and supports wide motion with 342-degree pan and 60-degree tilt. In actual use, this means that a single camera can cover most of a room without requiring any change of location. It records at 15fps and uses H.265 compression to manage storage efficiently. The 4mm lens provides a balanced field of view for indoor locations. For use at night, it supports both infrared vision up to 30 meters and a colorful night mode using LED lighting.
The cameras include tracking as well as motion and human detection. You also get two-way audio and a built-in siren, which can act as a warning device. It connects through the ezyLiv+ app and works with voice assistants like Google Home. Storage is flexible, with microSD support up to 256GB. For users who want an indoor camera with full coverage and app controls, this model keeps things simple without cutting down on key features.
Each product is clearly listed in the review Pros and consProvides you with a balanced perspective.

If you want coverage across multiple rooms, this pack from Qubo offers a practical setup. Each camera records at 4MP (2560×1440), giving sharper footage than the standard 1080p model. The cameras support a 107-degree field of view as well as 350-degree pan and 67-degree tilt. In use, it reduces blind spots and helps track movement throughout the room. There’s also a 10x digital zoom for closer inspection.
AI-based alerts detect people and motion, and the system can automatically follow the motion. You also get two-way communication and a built-in alarm feature. Night vision ensures visibility in low light conditions. Storage options include cloud and microSD support up to 1TB. The cameras work with Alexa and Google Assistant, making them easy to control through voice commands.
For homes that need monitoring of more than one room, this dual pack setup provides better coverage without doubling the setup effort.
Not every location has stable Wi-Fi, and this is where Hikvision provides a practical solution. This camera uses 4G LTE via a Nano SIM, so it stays connected even in remote or network-limited areas.
It records in 4MP resolution and uses a CMOS sensor with an F1.6 lens to capture footage even in low light conditions. The hybrid lighting system switches between infrared and white light, providing visibility up to 30 meters at night.
The camera supports 345-degree pan and 80-degree tilt, which helps cover outdoor locations like entrances, shops or open areas. It also includes human and vehicle detection, making alerts more relevant. Allows two-way audio communication, and the IP66 rating means it can handle dust and rain. Storage is supported via microSD card up to 512GB. For users who cannot rely on Wi-Fi, this model ensures continuous monitoring without network dependency.
Outdoor security often requires both visibility and lighting. The TP-Link Tapo C720 combines a camera with a floodlight system. It records in 2K QHD (2560×1440) with a 153-degree diagonal field of view. The built-in floodlights provide up to 2800 lumens, which helps capture color footage at night and also acts as a deterrent.
The camera uses AI to detect people, pets, and vehicles. It also supports motion detection in a 270-degree range using a PIR sensor. Alerts can be customized through the Tapo app, and you can define activity zones. Two-way audio is included, and the system can trigger an alarm if needed. Storage options include a microSD card up to 512GB and cloud storage via Tappo Care. With IP65 weather resistance and wired power, this camera is suitable for entry points such as gates, driveways and backyards.
For indoor monitoring focused on daily activity, the Dahua A1 offers a balanced option. It records in 3MP resolution and supports smooth video at 25fps. The camera offers 355-degree pan and 80-degree tilt, covering almost the entire room. Through the DMSS app, users can control activity and view live footage. This includes auto-tracking as well as AI-based detection for humans and pets. Motion alerts notify users immediately, and two-way audio allows conversation when needed.
Night vision works out to about 10-15 meters, which is enough for most indoor setups. Storage is handled via a microSD card up to 256GB. Setup over Wi-Fi is straightforward, making it suitable for users who want a simple indoor monitoring system without complicated installation.
In my experience, the biggest changes are not just in features but in usability. You install a camera, connect it to an app, and you’re ready to monitor your location. There is no need for constant manual checking, as alerts come straight to your phone.
Another factor is flexibility. You can start with one camera and expand later. Indoor models help track daily activity, while outdoor units focus on entry points and open areas. Options with 4G support overcome the shortcomings of connectivity.
Storage options also give control. You can keep the footage locally or use cloud services, depending on your needs. This can avoid dependence on a single system.
If your goal is to stay informed about your home without a physical presence, smart cameras now offer a clear and practical solution. The right choice depends on where you want to place it and how much coverage you need, but a camera can also change the way you monitor your location.

Having recently smashed Indian athletics` longest-standing national record, marathon runner Sawan Barwal has set another goal: winning the country`s first medal in the Asian Games since 1982 in the gruelling distance. India`s last Asian Games medal in marathon was won by Hosur Kukkappa Seetharan at the 1982 Games in New Delhi. Before that, Chota Singh won a gold in the inaugural 1951 Asian Games in the national capital.
The legendary Shivnath Singh had held the national marathon record of 2:12:00 for 48 years. However, on Sunday, the 28-year-old Barwal broke that long-standing mark at the NN Rotterdam Marathon, finishing 20th with a new time of 2:11:58. “This year, my main target will be Asian Games and I want to win a medal there. I will not participate in too many events,” Barwal told PTI in an interview facilitated by Reliance Foundation.
“I feel I can further improve my national record. I could have run around 2:10:00 even in Rotterdam had there been no cold wind. So, I can run faster than my current national record. “Next year, there is Asian Marathon Championship. Then I would want to give my best in the 2028 Olympics.” Barwal, who is getting married next month, broke the national record in his debut race but said he was confident of achieving the feat as he had been preparing for that race since January. He was to run in the Valencia Marathon on December last year but an injury led to him missing it.
“I was undergoing high altitude training at Coonoor and I was preparing well. I was confident of breaking the national record. “The target was to run 2:10:00 and everything went according to the plan till the 40km mark. In the last two kilometers there were issues. I did not anticipate the cold wind and moreover, I had poured water on my body,” he explained.
He fell down twice â¿¿ at around the 100m mark from the finish line and again just 10â¿¿20m before it. “I had a blackout of may be 10 to 15 seconds but a volunteer came and helped me in standing up. Then I pulled through the finish line,” he reminisced. “Rotterdam was a flat track except for little up and down at the end with a bridge in the middle. The climate was also good. The highest temperature was 12 degrees.”
His coach at Reliance Foundation, Ajith Markose said Barwal may run a couple of races — either 5000m or 10000m — later in the season but his main focus will be to win an Asian Games marathon medal. “He is a part of our (Reliance Foundation) Project 2:09 marathon programme. The target this year is the Asian Games marathon medal. Moreover, he is getting married next year,” Markose said.
“He will be chasing the medal in the Asian Games, he will not be chasing for (better) time in Japan.” The coach said he knew that Barwal would do wonders as soon as he joined the programme in 2022. “When he joined our 2:09 programme in 2022, we did physiology test like VO2max test, and we found that his VO2max was very high, 78-79 ml per kg. That`s the amount of oxygen that he can utilize. That time, without much training, he was able to reach that level. So we knew that he will be very good at long distance and marathon or half marathon “So last few years we have been preparing him for marathon only.”
A volunteer helped Barwal to stand up
Markose said Barwal was running according to plan up to 40 km, but, after that, cold wind struck him and his head got numb. “I was following him in a metro because the route was little weird. Most of the marathon routes will be a loop, I can catch them again at 20km by just crossing the road. It was not like that so I had to follow them in a metro. I went to 20km then I got another metro to reach 30km mark. Then I came to the finish line.
“I was 100m away from finish line and I was ready to take his pictures and videos. We were sure that he is going to break the national record. When the electronic time showed 2:10:00, I couldn`t see him at the finish line. He was at that time just around 100m from the finish line. And when I saw him, I realised that he is going to fall down.
“He fell down but he managed to stand up and run. And again, within 10-20m (of the finish line), he fell down. He was completely out. Luckily there was a volunteer who made him stand. And somehow he crossed the finish line just few seconds within the national record.”

Marvel Studios has unveiled the first full-length trailer of Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon, offering a thrilling glimpse into a massive multiverse showdown. It was attended by Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. Featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and the return of Steve Rogers, the film promises epic crossovers with the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and new Avengers.
About Avengers: Doomsday trailer
The trailer starts with a look at Downey Jr.`s green-hooded, metal-faced Doctor Doom as he prepares to invade the multiverse. There`s a shot of Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) looking out of his X-Mansion window as a bright flash of light outside signals trouble.
This is followed by a flood of crossovers, including a battle between Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu); Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) transforms into Yelena Belova, resulting in a Florence Pugh vs. Florence Pugh fight; and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) faces off with Doom, who catches Thor`s magical hammer, Mjolnir, with his bare hands, reported Variety.
The biggest highlight of the trailer comes when Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers makes his triumphant return and reunites with Thor. The Asgardian is shocked at his Avengers teammate’s arrival, given that Cap had gone back in time to grow old with his sweetheart, Peggy Carter, in Endgame.
Similar to how Infinity War and Endgame brought together the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Wakandans, and the Avengers, Doomsday goes a step further by intermixing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts.
After the Fantastic Four’s ship crossed into the MCU in the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts, we finally see Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing meeting the so-called New Avengers (consisting of Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Sentry, Ghost, Red Guardian, and U.S. Agent).
More about Avengers: Doomsday
Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are directing Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. The filmmakers have alluded to the idea that the back-to-back tentpoles will be connected, similar to the two-part story of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, reported Variety.
Plot details for Doomsday have been kept under wraps, but it promises to be the superhero extravaganza of the year.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open on December 18, the same day as Dune: Part Three, which could result in one of the biggest box office weekends in history. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to release a year later, on December 17, 2027.
When Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the Mumbai Indians captain, it was believed that the management wanted instant results. And could you blame the owners and the think-tank for making this move? Absolutely not. Consider the facts. Hardik had just won an Indian Premier League (IPL) title as captain of the Gujarat Titans and then led the same franchise to the final the next year. At the same time, Rohit was struggling with the bat in the league, and Mumbai failed to win the tournament for three years. So, the succession plan stared everyone in the eyes. Hardik spent his formative years with the franchise, and it was the Mumbai Indians who gave him the stage to make the world his oyster.
Nothing is going right for the Mumbai Indians (Screengrabs – JioHotstar)
The Mumbai Indians made a mistake by not retaining Hardik ahead of the IPL 2022 season, and the Gujarat Titans cashed in on the opportunity by signing him as a marquee player and giving him the captaincy straight away. So the thought process would have been simple for the five-time champions – poach Hardik.
However, three years into bringing Hardik back and making him the captain, the move is clearly not working out. The 2024 season saw the Mumbai Indians finish last in the points table. The next edition saw the franchise faring better and making Qualifier 2. However, the ongoing 19th edition of the tournament has once again exposed a dark underbelly, and Hardik is clearly running out of ideas.
And it seems even Hardik is losing patience with how things have been playing out in IPL 2026. On Thursday, the Mumbai Indians suffered their fourth straight defeat, losing by seven wickets. After the defeat, the all-rounder pulled no punches, saying it as it is. He passed the mantle to management to decide whether calls on certain individuals are needed. “We really need to see, do we need to make some difficult calls, or do we need to keep continuing and hope that we’ll turn things around. These are some hard questions which eventually we need to answer, and yeah, ownership has to be taken,” said Hardik.
Which individuals was Hardik alluding to? One cannot say for certain. Hardik would himself be the first one to raise his hand to say that even his own performances haven’t been up to scratch in IPL 2026. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma can’t seem to buy a run at this point, while Jasprit Bumrah is finally showing he, too, is a mortal and can go through lean phases. Shockingly, Bumrah is yet to get a wicket in the IPL 2026 season despite bowling 114 deliveries. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma missed the match against the Punjab Kings due to a hamstring injury.
Visible cracks
For the first time in the IPL 2026 season, Hardik’s frustration spilt over onto the game, and his face painted a sorry picture when Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer made a mockery of the 196-run target, chasing the total down with 21 balls to spare.
Every time a boundary or six was scored, cameras panned to Hardik and the Mumbai Indians captain flinched, flustered and whatnot. He was not so calm in the middle and was seen giving instructions to the bowlers and fielders by the second. Angry gestures followed, and it was clear that Hardik wasn’t pleased with the hapless showing on the field.
Even Bumrah looked bothered with his own performance as he ran out of ideas on how to stop the batters and bring his team back into the contest. He first dropped a sitter off the bowling of Hardik and instantly chose to look away. To make matters worse, Rohit, who was sitting in the dugout, looked grim for the entire duration of the game. He hung his head back, clearly disappointed with the lacklustre effort with the ball.
Mumbai Indians fail to evolve
It’s safe to say the Mumbai Indians management failed to read the danger signs in the bowling department. In a tournament where all the franchises aim to have 2-3 gun bowlers in the playing XI, the Mumbai Indians decided to place the burden on Bumrah. Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult and Shardul Thakur are no longer the force they once used to be.
Boult doesn’t play international cricket, and the game has the habit of biting you in the back if you don’t do the grind enough. Chahar too is no longer a reliable option in the powerplay, and it’s no surprise that the teams are hammering 18-20 runs off his opening over right at the start. Shardul can take wickets but can also leak runs at a rapid pace.
With such a bowling attack, the teams are looking to play out Bumrah, and it’s the main reason the premier speedster has gone wicketless in the first five matches for the franchise. The remaining 16 overs are turning out to be free for all, hence the teams have no problem in playing out Bumrah and score at a pace of 8-9 runs against him,
Another hindrance is the lack of quality Indian spinners. Mayank Markande’s last good IPL season was 2018. Mitchell Santner and Allah Ghazanfar are the two overseas spin options, but they need some assistance for the pitch. When the Mumbai Indians were a force to reckon with in the IPL, just look at the bowlers they had at the top of their powers – Bumrah, Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Boult, Karn Sharma, Piyush Chawla, and more.
The basic errors on the part of the Mumbai management are now resulting in poor displays on the field. And nothing more could be said.
Kangana Ranaut has never shied away from making bold statements or sharing her unfiltered views. Be it her professional struggles or love life, the actress has believed in setting the record straight without mincing words. In a recent interview, she opened up about her ugly split with Adhyayan Suman, after which she faced a witch-hunt, as she was accused of practising black magic.
Kangana Ranaut on facing witch-hunt
In a recent podcast conversation with ANI, Ranaut shared that she was branded a “witch” and accused of dark practices. She recounted, “My ex filed a case against me, and on top of that, some people stood up and said she`s a witch, she drinks blood, she does black magic. So there was a witch-hunt,” the actor said.
Adhyayan and Kangana dated around 2008–09, when they worked together on Raaz 2. However, the case was filed later, in 2015. Recalling the time, Kangana said, “There was evident and very apparent witch-hunting happening at that time, and I was hardly 26 or 27 years old. So when this is how they`re going to treat me, why should I make them look good? I have no reason to make them look good.”
Ranaut added that her conviction in her work allowed her to tune out criticism, and she realised that she “does not give a damn about them.”
Kangana Ranaut on Karan Johar
Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut, who had once described Karan Johar as the “flagbearer of nepotism,” has now offered a fresh perspective on the filmmaker, stating she does not view him as a “bad person.”
“I don`t think Karan Johar is a bad person. You know, I think he`s very proudly just superficial, flaky, flashy. He likes that. He`s very proud of that, and I think he has an amazing sense of humour. So I don`t think I have a problem with Karan Johar as such,” she said.
The Queen actress also revisited a formative moment from her early days in the film industry, recalling how Salman Khan once encouraged her to meet filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
On the work front, she was last seen in Emergency, a film she also directed, portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. A four-time National Award winner and Padma Shri recipient, she currently serves as a Member of Parliament from Mandi.
The tragic incident in Bengaluru highlights how caregiver stress, emotional stress and social pressure on family members can lead to devastating consequences. assistance is urgently needed
Caregivers must manage their mental health to avoid burnout.
On April 15, Bengaluru was shaken by a heart-wrenching incident. A 42-year-old man allegedly pushed his 75-year-old paralyzed mother off the roof of his four-storey building, killing her instantly. The son confessed that he “couldn’t bear her suffering” after being bedridden for years. This heartbreaking case highlights the mental stress caregivers often face.
As the demands of caregiving increase, the issue of caregiver burnout and its potential for tragic consequences must be addressed more urgently.
In light of this tragedy, we spoke exclusively to Dr. Kedar Tilve, Consultant – Psychiatrist, Fortis Hospital Mulund and Fortis Hiranandani Hospital Vashi, Navi Mumbai, who outlines the critical need for mental health support for caregivers and emphasizes that early intervention is crucial to prevent such devastating outcomes.
The sad thing is that this is not an isolated case. Abuse of the elderly by caregivers – whether family members or professionals, has become a growing concern. Many caregivers, overwhelmed by their responsibilities, can reach breaking point, which can lead to devastating consequences.
Palakkad, Kerala (May 2025): A 56-year-old man allegedly suffocated his bed-ridden wife with a pillow, claiming in a family group message that he “could not bear to see her deteriorating health condition.”
Muvattupuzha, Kerala (May 2024): An 86-year-old man murdered his 85-year-old wife after being troubled by her prolonged illness.
Thane, Maharashtra (June 2025): A man has been jailed for life for the murder of his disabled wife, which was deemed a serious breach of trust.
Dhenkanal, Odisha (March 2025): A 21-year-old caretaker was arrested for strangulating a 73-year-old man lying on his bed following a heated argument.
These incidents highlight the hidden dangers that elderly patients and caregivers face, where frustration often leads to violent acts.
Key statistics on elder abuse in India
These tragic events are not just a matter of individual matters; They reflect a growing social issue.
According to recent reports, more than 70% of elder abuse cases in India are perpetrated by family members, with sons and daughters-in-law often identified as the primary perpetrators.
The most common forms of abuse included verbal abuse (49%), neglect (33%), and disrespect (56%), especially in urban households.
Understanding mental burden and how to deal with it
The hidden stress of caregiving: Insights from consultant psychiatrist Dr Kedar Tilve
Dr. Kedar Tilve, Consultant – Psychiatrist at Fortis Hospital Mulund and Fortis Hiranandani Hospital Vashi, Navi Mumbai, sheds light on the mental toll that is often overlooked by caregivers. According to Dr. Tilway, caregivers, especially those who are the sole providers of care, are highly vulnerable to burnout and compassion fatigue. This intense pressure is associated with physical, emotional and financial burden, as well as significant social isolation.
Dr. Kedar Tilve, Consultant – Psychiatrist at Fortis Hospital Mulund and Fortis Hiranandani Hospital Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
psychological impact of caregiving
“Caregivers often find themselves emotionally overwhelmed, often due to over-involvement, feelings of hostility or criticism toward the patient, and feelings of guilt, isolation, and inadequacy,” explains Dr. Tilway. “This can lead to increased anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, and even panic attacks. Additionally, persistent stress can lead to sleep disruption and decreased motivation.”
Dr. Tilway emphasizes that caregivers are at significantly higher risk of developing substance use disorders due to the extreme emotional and physical stress they experience.
How to Reduce Caregiver Stress
Dr. Tilway recommends that caregivers actively seek both professional and personal support to reduce their emotional burden. Here are some key strategies:
Joining occupational therapy and caregiver support groups can provide emotional relief and valuable coping strategies.
Mindfulness, yoga, and simple relaxation exercises can relieve mild stress and promote overall well-being.
Taking time for personal hobbies and self-care can help caregivers refresh and prevent burnout.
Establish clear boundaries and share caregiving responsibilities with other family members or friends to avoid emotional and physical exhaustion.
By following these methods, caregivers can reduce their stress to a great extent, ensuring that they remain healthy and able to provide compassionate care to their loved ones.
Why is mental health support important for caregivers?
Caregivers often become so busy attending to the needs of their loved ones that they forget to take care of themselves. This neglect can lead to extreme stress, depression, and ultimately burnout, which affects both their health and the quality of care they provide.
Caregiver burnout is not just an emotional issue; It manifests physically and mentally, impacting both the caregiver and the person receiving care. Appropriate mental health support for caregivers is important to prevent these devastating outcomes.
5 signs you need a break
Caregivers can often feel like they are running on empty, but it’s important to recognize the signs that you need to step back and rest. Here are five clear indicators that it’s time to take a break:
Physical exhaustion: Persistent fatigue and lack of energy, no matter how much rest you get.
Emotional irritability: Increasing frustration or irritability toward your loved one or other people in your life.
Feeling overwhelmed: The feeling that you can’t handle another responsibility or task.
Neglect of self care: Ignoring your own health, skipping meals, or postponing doctor’s appointments.
Loss of pleasure: No longer feeling happy or interested in hobbies or social activities.
5 Ways to Manage Caregiver Stress
Managing caregiver stress is important for both your own well-being and your loved one’s well-being. Here are five strategies that can help you cope:
Delegate and ask for help: Reach out to friends, family or professional services to share the burden of care.
Make self-care a priority: Take time for yourself every day, even if it’s just a short walk or a few minutes of meditation.
Use Relaxation Care: Temporary relief through respite care can provide a much-needed rest.
Find emotional support: Whether through therapy, support groups, or confiding in friends, don’t keep everything bottled up.
Stay organized: Use calendars or apps to keep track of appointments, medications, and caregiving tasks to reduce mental burden.
Symptoms of Caregiver Burnout
Physical Characteristics: Persistent fatigue, sleep disturbances, and unexplained pain.
Emotional Symptoms: Feelings of anxiety, irritability and depression.
Behavioral Symptoms: Social isolation, neglect of self-care, and disinterest in hobbies or activities.
Dos and don’ts for caregiver mental health
What to do?
Take regular breaks to recharge.
Seek professional counseling to overcome emotions.
Delegate tasks to family members or friends.
Prioritize self-care and physical health.
what not to do
Don’t ignore your feelings; This can cause long-term stress.
Avoid isolating yourself from support groups and friends.
Don’t feel guilty about taking time for yourself.
Don’t overextend your capabilities. Know your limits.
Importance of respite care
Respite care allows caregivers a temporary break through professional help or support from family members. This is an essential part of preventing burnout and maintaining long-term caring relationships.
Caregiving is a demanding but deeply satisfying role. However, without proper mental health support, caregivers are at risk for burnout, which can harm both them and their loved ones.
It is important to address mental health challenges early and provide caregivers with the resources they need to continue their work with compassion, not resentment. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available, don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Babil Khan shares touching memories of his late father Irrfan Khan. (Instagram/@babil.i.k)
Babil Khan shares heartwarming memory of father Irrfan
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Babil posted a series of photographs capturing a tender domestic scene. In the images, Irrfan can be seen attending to Sutapa’s feet while she rests, a seemingly small gesture that carried profound emotional weight given the circumstances surrounding it.
Through his caption, Babil described how his mother developed painful foot corns from constantly rushing around to care for Irrfan during his illness. Despite being at the peak of his own suffering, Irrfan would improvise a makeshift headlamp by strapping his phone to his forehead and carefully tend to her feet.
“During baba’s most unbearable peak cancer period, mamma used to get corns on her feet, running around and taking care of him. So Baba used to tie his phone to his head as a light source and operate on her corns. Both peeling offs (sic),” he wrote.
How Babil keeps his father’s memory alive
This is not the first occasion on which Babil has honored his father’s memory publicly. He previously shared rare childhood photographs alongside Irrfan, giving followers an intimate look at their relationship beyond the public eye. The images ranged from Irrfan cradling a newborn Babil to playful indoor moments, radiating a warmth that transcended words.
Among those pictures, Irrfan is seen holding baby Babil as both gaze upward, sitting beside him in gentle interaction, and hoisting young Babil onto his shoulders in a carefree, joyful moment.
Irrfan passed away on April 29, 2020, aged 53, following his battle with a neuroendocrine tumour. His extraordinary body of work continues to be celebrated across both Indian and international cinema.
Babil, meanwhile, has been steadily building his own presence in the film industry, having made his acting debut in Qala in 2022. He was last seen in the cyber thriller drama film Logout, directed by Amit Golani.
