Sangeeta Sornalingam files for divorce from Vijay
In late February, news broke that Sangeeta had filed for divorce from Vijay in the Chengalpattu family court in Chennai. As per the divorce petition, she accused the actor of infidelity, alleging that he had an ‘adulterous relationship’ with an unnamed actress. Days after this news, Vijay and Trisha Krishnan attended a wedding reception in Chennai in matching outfits, fueling rumours.
Vijay was also accused of being ‘emotionally withdrawn’ since 2021 and forcing Sangeeta to live separately in the divorce petition. He met Sangeeta for the first time in the UK in 1996, and they registered their marriage there in 1998. They married as per Hindu traditions in Chennai in 1999. With several major films like Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Peddi, The Paradise, and Dacoit postponing their releases, the film enjoyed a clear run at the box office.The sequel has now grossed over Rs 1712 crore globally, contributing significantly to the franchise’s record-breaking total.

The Dhurandhar franchise has also become the only Indian film series where both installments have individually crossed Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ difficult start to the IPL 2026 season worsened on Tuesday as captain Ajinkya Rahane was fined for maintaining a slow overrate during their 32-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings in a group clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

As it was KKR’s first overrate offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh. The penalty capped off another frustrating evening for the three-time champions, who remain winless after five matches in IPL 2026.
The 32-run defeat at Chepauk left Kolkata Knight Riders languishing at the bottom of the points table with just one point, underlining a campaign that has struggled to find rhythm in any department. Chasing 192 on a surface that offered assistance but remained largely good for batting, KKR never truly got going.
A sluggish powerplay set the tone, with the visitors managing only 36-37 runs in the first six overs. The KKR skipper also pointed to the absence of a batter willing to bat deep and control the chase, something he felt was key on a surface like Chepauk.
“We needed one batter to bat deep and then take it in the end. I think, combination-wise, we had the one we used in the last game, and it was really good. I think it’s tough at the moment. Yes, we’re not winning matches, it’s tough. What is important for all of us as a group to stay positive, keep our heads up, keep our chins up, focus on the movement,” he added.
With results not going their way, Rahane acknowledged that the team management may now be forced to reconsider its combinations going forward, a sign that KKR could be heading for changes in the coming matches.
“We’ll have to sit in the dressing room, think about the combination. We’ll have to make any changes. Sometimes you back the players if the results are going your way, then it’s okay. But if the results aren’t going your way, you’ll have to think about the combination. But apart from that, I thought it’s all about being positive and keeping our heads up,” said Rahane.
For KKR, the challenge now is not just tactical but mental. With five games gone and no wins on the board, the margin for error is rapidly shrinking, and unless they find answers quickly, their IPL 2026 campaign risks slipping away before it truly begins.

Telangana Maata posted a video of Vijay from the Kanniyakumari rally, claiming that it was deleted by the TVK handle after it was posted. “During his cycle campaign, Vijay suddenly threw his cycle and ran back as if it were a bomb when a fan tried to shower flowers on him,” they wrote, re-posting it. The video has since been reposted many times and gone viral across various platforms.
In the video, Vijay is happily cycling on the road and waving to people as his security detail follows him. However, when a fan throws something at him and runs out of the way, Vijay seems to panic. He looks back for reassurance, gets off the cycle, and hustles back to the van. It was seen that the fan was trying to shower him with petals, but the actor-politician seemed to have misunderstood it as something dangerous. The police and his security also struggle to control the crowd around his van after he gets in.

The three-time champions continue to remain winless in the 19th edition of the T20 tournament, despite playing five matches. The latest blow came against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday as KKR went down by 32 runs to remain at the bottom of the points table with just one point. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane painted a sorry picture after the loss, and he found it tough to describe yet another abysmal performance.
KKR fell 32 runs short in the chase of 192, and the batters left a lot to be desired. Finn Allen (1), Sunil Narine (24) and Rinku Singh (6). Even Rahane flattered to deceive, scoring 28 runs while chewing up 22 balls in the middle. It was Rahane’s wicket off the bowling of Noor Ahmed that opened the floodgates for CSK, and in the end, the hosts wrapped up a comprehensive win to move ahead of the Mumbai Indians in the points table.

How did the match unfold?
The contest between CSK and KKR began with Rahane winning the toss and opting to bowl. The five-time champions then posted 192/5 in 20 overs owing to knocks of 48 and 41 by Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis. At one point, it seemed CSK would finish in the upper 220s. Still, KKR bowlers staged a remarkable comeback in the final 10 overs as Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy executed their plans to perfection.
“I thought with the ball we did really well. 190 on this wicket was really good, especially in the power play; they got 70-odd runs. After that, pulling back to 190 was an amazing job for our bowling unit,” he added.
KKR’s chase got off to a horrendous start despite making a switch in the batting order and sending Sunil Narine to open alongside Finn Allen. Both openers lost their wickets cheaply. No batter was able to show any sort of fight, and in the end, KKR had to settle for a score of 160/7, falling considerably short.
