Nothing seems to be going right for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The three-time champions continue to remain winless in the 19th edition of the T20 tournament, despite playing five matches. The latest blow came against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday as KKR went down by 32 runs to remain at the bottom of the points table with just one point. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane painted a sorry picture after the loss, and he found it tough to describe yet another abysmal performance.

KKR fell 32 runs short in the chase of 192, and the batters left a lot to be desired. Finn Allen (1), Sunil Narine (24) and Rinku Singh (6). Even Rahane flattered to deceive, scoring 28 runs while chewing up 22 balls in the middle. It was Rahane’s wicket off the bowling of Noor Ahmed that opened the floodgates for CSK, and in the end, the hosts wrapped up a comprehensive win to move ahead of the Mumbai Indians in the points table.

“No real momentum with the bat. Initially, with our batting, we just got 36 or 37 runs in the powerplay, I thought that was really important. The middle phase of hitting spinners was slightly challenging, but apart from that, the wicket was really good,” said Rahane during his chat with Ravi Shastri.

“We needed one batter to bat deep and then take it in the end. I think, combination-wise, we had the one we used in the last game, and it was really good. I think it’s tough at the moment. Yes, we’re not winning matches, it’s tough. What is important for all of us as a group to stay positive, keep our heads up, keep our chins up, focus on the movement,” he added.

After the loss, Rahane said KKR would go back to the drawing board and review the playing combination ahead of the next match.

“We’ll have to sit in the dressing room, think about the combination. We’ll have to make any changes. Sometimes you back the players if the results are going your way, then it’s okay. But if the results aren’t going your way, you’ll have to think about the combination. But apart from that, I thought it’s all about being positive and keeping our heads up,” said Rahane.

Looking at Rahane, who spoke about the combination, the former India head coach Shastri eventually concluded the chat by asking Rahane to stay patient.

“Just be patient, and hopefully you’ll get the combination right,” he added.

How did the match unfold?

The contest between CSK and KKR began with Rahane winning the toss and opting to bowl. The five-time champions then posted 192/5 in 20 overs owing to knocks of 48 and 41 by Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis. At one point, it seemed CSK would finish in the upper 220s. Still, KKR bowlers staged a remarkable comeback in the final 10 overs as Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy executed their plans to perfection.

“I thought with the ball we did really well. 190 on this wicket was really good, especially in the power play; they got 70-odd runs. After that, pulling back to 190 was an amazing job for our bowling unit,” he added.

KKR’s chase got off to a horrendous start despite making a switch in the batting order and sending Sunil Narine to open alongside Finn Allen. Both openers lost their wickets cheaply. No batter was able to show any sort of fight, and in the end, KKR had to settle for a score of 160/7, falling considerably short.

For Bobby Deol, one of the biggest personal shifts in recent years has been his decision to give up alcohol. Having quit alcohol completely a year and a half ago, Deol admitted the transition was easier than he expected. Reflecting on the decision, Bobby Deol said watching his father, Dharmendra, struggle with similar issues had a lasting impact on him. Grief, he admitted, has also brought him closer to his half-sisters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

For Bobby Deol, one of the biggest personal shifts in recent years has been his decision to give up alcohol. The actor, who had earlier spoken about a creeping dependency, said the choice stemmed from both professional and personal awareness.“For an actor, your body, your face, are the commodities that you’re selling. I cannot afford to mess with that,” he told Esquire India, adding, “As I grow older, I feel tired faster than I would a few years ago. I need to take greater care of myself.”

‘I don’t miss it at all’

Having quit alcohol completely a year and a half ago, Deol admitted the transition was easier than he expected. “I don’t miss it. In fact, I keep thinking, wait, it was this easy?” he said. “Two birthdays and two New Year’s have passed. And I haven’t felt the urge. That surprised me.”The change, he revealed, hasn’t just impacted his health but also the atmosphere at home.

‘It’s improved my relationship with my family’

Reflecting on the decision, Bobby Deol said watching his father, Dharmendra, struggle with similar issues had a lasting impact on him. “I’ve seen what it can do,” he said, adding that he didn’t want the same for himself.What sobriety has brought him, he explained, is a sense of presence. “It’s improved my relationship with my family more than anything,” he said, noting that it has allowed him to be more present—with his sons, at the dinner table, and in everyday moments.In an industry that often romanticises excess, Deol believes restraint is the braver path.

‘Nobody has time for bad behaviour anymore’

The actor also spoke about how the industry has evolved over the years, especially in terms of professionalism.“One of the biggest differences from the ’90s to now is that nobody has time for all that anymore,” he said. “Everything is so expensive—each day of shoot is such a cost—that nobody is going to put up with bad behaviour. Maybe once or twice they’ll let it slide, but if you’re going to be difficult, they’re just going to take someone else.”He added, “There are certain actors, and I’ve come across some, who still are badly behaved, but I just feel really sad for them. I’ve seen this story before and trust me, at the end of the day, it will be them left wondering why things went wrong, why the phone stopped ringing and why they’re so lonely. You can’t just throw tantrums and expect everyone to be okay with it.”

Remembering his father through memories and moments

As the conversation drew to a close, Deol found himself returning to thoughts of Dharmendra. “You know, I keep watching his reels on Instagram,” he said. “He was so candid… so full of warmth. Sometimes it feels like he’s talking directly to me.”He shared that fans often send him old photographs of his father—unexpected reminders that bring both comfort and nostalgia. For the preview of Ikkis, Dharmendra’s final on-screen appearance, Deol chose to wear one of his father’s favourite shirts.“He’d wear it everywhere,” he smiled. “So I took it out and wore it at the premiere. It felt like he was there with me.”

Deol also recalled a rare moment of acknowledgment from his father during the later years of his career. After the loss, Rahane shook hands with players, congratulated the CSK camp, and then headed straight to speak with broadcasters.KKR have endured a tough season so far and are currently languishing at the bottom of the standings.In five matches, they are yet to register a win, with four losses and one no result. With just one point and a net run rate of -1.383, KKR have significant ground to cover in the coming games.“I think it’s tough at the moment. Yes, we’re not winning matches, it’s tough. So I thought from both the sides, spinners bowled really well. In the podcast, Huma recounted meeting Ed Sheeran at a party Farah Khan hosted in his honour. “Ultimate flex tha jab main Ed Sheeran se mili aur usne Gangs of Wasseypur dekhi thi (It was the ultimate flex when I met Ed Sheeran and he had watched Gangs of Wasseypur). And I was like, what? `You have watched Gangs of Wasseypur?` Farah Khan had hosted a party for Ed Sheeran when he was in Mumbai, and everyone met him there. I was trying to have a conversation with him, and he was very sweet. He said, I love your country, and I would love to do music here.”

She then went on to teach Ed a few “interesting” Hindi words to show him the `flavour` of India. “So, he was being called away, and I said, if you want to learn some more interesting, colourful language, you must watch this film of ours, Gangs Of Wasseypur. He stopped and asked, `You were in that movie?` I said, `Yes`. He said, `We just saw that movie,` and then he called his manager and then Farah was like, `What have you said to him? Why is he calling his manager?` And Ed said, `We just watched the film, and we really loved it. It`s such a cool film.` And I was like this is quite a cool moment.”

Huma Qureshi`s work front

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups stars Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria in pivotal roles. Huma`s character is called Elizabeth in the film.

According to Phars Film`s website, Toxic is set in Goa and spans from pre-Independence India to the post-Independence era. The narrative begins in the early 1940s and continues until the 1970s.

The film is written by Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas, and has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

One 97 Communications Ltd, which operates the Paytm brand, has become a majority Indian-owned and controlled company after domestic investors raised their stake to 50.3% as of March-end 2026, PTI reported.The shift marks a structural change in ownership for the fintech firm, with domestic shareholding rising steadily in recent quarters, reflecting growing investor confidence.Domestic institutional investors increased their stake to a record 23.1% in the March quarter, up 2.8 percentage points sequentially and 9.1 percentage points from a year earlier, according to regulatory filings.Mutual funds led the increase, with holdings rising to 16.6% from 14.3% in the previous quarter, while the number of funds investing in the company grew to 41 from 36. Entities such as Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset and Bandhan Mutual Fund continued to expand their shareholding.Insurance companies also added to their exposure, taking their combined stake to 5.1% from about 4.8% earlier. Firms including Tata AIA Life Insurance and SBI Life Insurance were among those increasing positions.The rise in domestic ownership comes alongside improving operating performance. The company reported its third consecutive profitable quarter in the December quarter, posting a net profit of Rs 225 crore, while revenue rose 20% year-on-year to Rs 2,194 crore.EBITDA stood at Rs 156 crore, with margins at 7%. The company’s merchant base also expanded, with subscription merchants crossing 1.44 crore, up 24% over the year.Brokerages have flagged improving fundamentals. Bank of America upgraded the stock, citing stronger monetisation and profitability, particularly in merchant payments and lending.The brokerage said Paytm is “strong in B2B” and “is ahead in its monetisation journey with a more diversified business mix and better margins,” driven by strength in merchant payments and lending. It maintained a ‘Buy’ rating with a target price of Rs 1,380.Bernstein also highlighted Paytm’s monetisation advantage, noting that its merchant revenues are roughly twice that of its nearest competitor despite similar payment volumes, and maintained an outperform rating on the stock.

The Chennai Super Kings beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs to get their second win of the season. CSK scored 192 runs in their first innings before restricting KKR to 160 runs in the second innings. This win takes CSK above the Mumbai Indians in the league table with two wins in a row.

Batting first, CSK scored 192 runs largely due to brilliant innings from Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis. Samson scored 48 runs in 32 balls, and Brevis scored 41 runs in 29 balls to take CSK to a competitive total.

In reply, KKR faltered from the powerplay, scoring just 32 runs in the first six overs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghvanshi made a partnership of 50 runs but could not take the visitors to a victory. 

Speaking after the win, KKR captain Ajinkya admitted that the batting let the team down. He further added that his team failed to get a partnership and lost control of the match.

CSK scored 192 in the first innings

The Chennai Super Kings posted 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of their 20 overs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Dewald Brevis and Sanju Samson starred for the hosts in the first innings.

CSK got off to a good start with the in-form Sanju Samson scoring runs again. The Indian star opener scored a century in the last match and continued his good form with another quickfire 48 runs in 32 balls. 

After Ruturaj Gaikwad`s early dismissal, Ayush Mhatre attacked the KKR bowlers from the first ball and scored 38 runs in just 17 balls. Later, Dewald Brevis scored 41 runs in 29 deliveries to take CSK to 192/5 after 20 overs. 

For KKR, Kartik Tyagi was the best bowler with the figures of 2/35 after his four overs. Sunil Narine impressed as well with 1/21 runs in his four overs.

The actor admitted that while they didn’t collaborate frequently, every project they did together turned out to be special.“Although we didn’t work a lot together till now. Working with someone is also destiny. If a person is doing 5 films in a year, but there are 1000 films being made in a year. Whenever we have done a film together, both of us have loved each other, and we have spent those good moments together,” he shared.

A candid moment on the sets of Billu

Rajpal also spoke about a memorable conversation with Shah Rukh Khan during the shoot of Billu, when he asked the superstar a candid question.“We were sitting together during the shoot of Billu once. He has given us so much respect. I asked him, ‘You can’t be one-dimensional, when will you act?’ It came out of my heart very genuinely. He smiled and gave me such a sensitive answer. He said, ‘Until I have my smile and I am a hero, leading entertainer, I will do whatever the director wants’,” Rajpal revealed.

‘He is a complete actor’

Praising SRK’s range, Rajpal said that audiences have yet to see the full extent of his abilities.“I can confidently say that Shah Rukh’s innings is yet to come. He is a great actor. Till now, you have only seen his heroism and action, he can do comedy. He is so good with mimicry, he does so many character sketches that one can’t even tell the difference. He is a complete actor – he can fit in any role. He is a three-dimensional actor-hero,” he said.Meanwhile, Rajpal Yadav is gearing up for the release of his next film Bhooth Bangla. Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror-comedy also stars Akshay Kumar and Wamiqa Gabbi.

KKR’s batting falters under pressure

KKR’s chase started poorly and kept slipping as wickets fell in clusters. Noor Ahmad turned the game with a brilliant spell, removing key batters including Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh and Cameron Green, as KKR collapsed from 79/2 to 90/6. Akeal Hossain also kept things tight, adding to the pressure.Rahane (28 off 22) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (27 off 19) added a 50-run stand, but their slow approach hurt the chase, especially on a pitch where scoring wasn’t easy. The Fanaa director shared that the industry did not even expect Sunny Deol`s Border 2 to succeed. He added, “Nobody supported Border 2. People said second week mei thoda baith gayi. It’s done Rs 300 crore plus! What are you saying?! That’s a blockbuster. End of discussion. It doesn’t matter if the industry supports you or not.”

Kunal Kohli on Hum Tum

Kunal recalled that people in the industry had the same reaction to his 2004 romantic comedy Hum Tum, which starred Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji. “It was exactly the same two decades ago. Hum Tum had a preview show on Thursday night. Adi (Aditya Chopra, producer) told me not to go because the industry people going for it wouldn`t get the film. But I still went for it, and the people there didn`t like the film. I was so depressed I called up Adi. He said, `I asked you to not go because I know it`s not their type of film.` So, 99&#37 of the people in the industry don’t want you to succeed”, the filmmaker recalled.

Notably, Kohli made his directorial debut with Mujhse Dosti Karoge! starring Rakesh Roshan`s son Hrithik Roshan, which unfortunately flopped. The director shared how Rakesh was the first one to inform him that Hum Tum had turned out to be a hit later. He added, “It took time for the film to settle down and get accepted. On Monday at 1 pm, Adi, I, and Rani were sitting in the office, still wondering if it’s going to drop or hold on Monday. Mr. Rakesh Roshan called me and said, `Kunal, your film is houseful in the 12:30 pm show on Monday in Indore! The biggest of big films fail to do that. Congratulations, your film is a big hit`.”
