Asha Bhosle passes away
One of the most influential singers of her time, Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday. The singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. Ashish Shelar, the Culture Minister of Maharashtra made the announcement outside the hospital. Her last rites will be held at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 pm.Asha Bhosle received numerous awards throughout her career for many of her noteworthy songs. The singer was given the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award back in 2000, followed by a Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

Censor board shuts down 'false, baseless' claims linking it to Vijay's Jana Nayagan leak
As speculation and confusion around the leak of Jana Nayagan, Vijay’s final film, grows, the Central Board of Film Certification has found itself in the crosshairs as well. After the unreleased film, which has been stuck with CBFC for months, was leaked in HD earlier this week, fingers were pointed at the Censor Board over the leak. The board has now vehemently denied such allegations.
CBFC denies role in Jana Nayagan leak
The CBFC issued a statement on Saturday evening denying any link to the leak and saying all such claims are “baseless and false.”
A statement shared through PIB (Press Information Bureau) Maharashtra’s official X account read, “Reports alleging that the Tamil film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has been leaked from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are baseless and false.”
The statement added that the digital print had been returned to the makers last month and is no longer with the board, dispelling speculation of a leak on their part. “Access to the content is password-protected, and the KDM remains solely with the producer/filmmaker. Without a valid KDM, the film cannot be accessed or viewed. The DCP (Digital Cinema Package) of ‘Jana Nayagan’ was handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on 17 March with due acknowledgement, and has remained with them since,” the statement further read.

On Thursday, scenes from the Tamil film Jana Nayagan surfaced online. The film, touted as superstar Vijay‘s last, has been delayed for months following a tiff with the CBFC. On Friday, the full film was uploaded on piracy sites. This led to widespread condemnation of the piracy from the Tamil and Telugu film fraternities, with everybody from Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan to Vijay Deverakonda standing behind the film and Vijay. Fans of the actor urged others not to share the pirated version and wait for the film in theatres.
Meanwhile, the makers, KVN Productions, had also released an official statement asking people not to watch or share any leaked material. The production house said parts of the movie, and in some cases almost the full film, had been illegally circulated online. They also said strict legal action was being taken in the matter.

Prasidh Krishna’s four-for sets up Titans’ easy win over LSG
Lucknow: Gujarat Titans’ spearhead Prasidh Krishna produced a match-defining spell of 4/28 on Sunday before skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler smacked sparkling half centuries to help the visitors beat Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets in the only afternoon match this season for the hosts.
India pacer Krishna’s haul lifted his season tally to 10 wickets in four matches. He has been among the most effective bowlers this season, showing the pace, bounce and control that have long marked his IPL career and his spell on Sunday helped GT restrict LSG for 164/8 before chasing down the total with eight balls to spare.
Gill’s decision to bowl after winning the toss paid rich dividends, setting a chaseable target at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. This was LSG’s second loss at home this season, and sixth consecutive overall.
Though GT were off to a slow start with the side scoring 45 in Powerplay—LSG were 60/2 after six overs—Gill and Buttler stitched together an 84-run second wicket partnership to put the side on the winning track. Gill made 56 (40b, 6×4, 1×6) and Buttler 60 (37b, 11×4) as LSG bowlers struggling for accuracy as they defended a modest total.
Though both the batters departed in quick succession, GT were only 30 runs from the target. It left Washington Sundar (21*-13b, 2×4, 1×6) and Rahul Tewatia (10*-8b, 1×4) to complete the formality.
It was Krishna’s game on Sunday as after being introduced in the seventh over, he turned the game on its head. His high-arm action generated steep bounce as he removed opener Aiden Markram (30 off 21b) on the last ball of his first over, the ball seaming away late to catch the edge.
Returning for his second spell, Krishna foxed Ayush Badoni (9) with a skiddy knuckle ball that held its line, before castling Nicholas Pooran (19) with a vicious in-swinging yorker that tailed in, after he had made an aggressive start against Rashid Khan. Krishna capped his demolition with the wicket of Mukul Choudhary’s wicket (18-14b), fresh from his sensational knock against Kolkata Knight Rider, edging an attempted pull off a bouncer into the pitch.
Krishna’s ability to vary pace—mixing 145kph thunderbolts with cutters—stifled LSG’s momentum, finishing with an economy of seven.
LSG’s innings flickered early on but crumbled under GT’s pressure. Mitchell Marsh’s explosive start (11 – 4b, 1×4, 1×6) ended courtesy Kagiso Rabada, while Rishabh Pant (18) fell to Mohammed Siraj—he miscued a wobble-seam delivery to be caught at mid-off—after a promising stand with Markram pushed the score to 60/2 in six overs.
Lower-order cameos from George Linde (16 off 10) and Mohammed Shami (12 off 5) nudged the total past 160, but Ashok Sharma’s clinical spell (2/32) at the death capped GT’s control. Impact player Linde’s brisk knock (3×4) promised a late surge, but Sharma claimed him in the last over.
Disappointment was writ large on the face of LSG skipper Pant after the match. “Definitely not enough runs. They bowled well. I think on a wicket like this, a score like 170-180 is a really good score. But wickets kept falling and they put enough pressure on us,” he told the broadcaster.
“There were opportunities in the game we couldn’t grab. Definitely we have a great line-up, but the tournament is just starting. We are not putting pressure on anyone, especially the senior guys. They know what they do. The trust is there in the camp.”
Both the teams are in mid table with four points, after two wins and losses apiece.

Analysts said that caution will prevail until there’s clarity on a full-fledged de-escalation. “Post mid-March, discretionary offtakes slowed down,” said Satyaki Ghosh, CEO at Raymond Lifestyle, pinning hopes on the upcoming wedding season to support demand going ahead. “We are running some value-based offerings but no direct discounts as yet,” Ghosh said. Consumers are not just curbing overall spending at stores, but are also gravitating more towards affordable options and value-driven choices, prioritising essentials over indulgences, said Tarun Arora, CEO & whole-time director at Zydus Wellness, maker of brands such as Complan and Glucon-D which is looking at smaller and more accessible formats where relevant. People are not necessarily trading down although there is some tightening of spends with simpler routines and fewer impulse additions, said Shankar Prasad, CEO at D2C beauty brand Plum. “What we are seeing is a gradual shift in consumer preference towards essential categories, with relatively higher spends on everyday, need-based products, while discretionary and indulgent purchases have softened a bit, which is typically the case during periods of uncertainty,” said Mayank Shah, chief marketing officer at Parle Products. For the time being, the company is focusing on pushing value packs of premium products so that even indulgent purchases remain accessible, said Shah. The war-led surge in crude oil has already pushed up costs for companies with firms pointing to inflationary pressures and looking to implement price hikes. Many firms across spaces such as edible oils, bottled water, beverages and consumer durables have already taken some price increases, straining middle class households. Analysts at Nuvama expect a post-election uptick in inflation across the country. “Footwear players shall likely face margin pressure as roughly 30% of their raw material inputs are crude-linked. QSRs may also experience cost headwinds from increased energy, packaging and secondary input expenses,” they said in a recent note. Alongside price hikes, the job market is also likely to see a slowdown as some companies freeze hiring amid uncertainty while AI-led tech layoffs continue to bruise the salaried class. Unilever, for instance, has frozen global hiring for three months due to the war.

NEW DELHI: Young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty fell short in his quest for the title, losing to China’s Shi Yu Qi in the final of the Badminton Asia Championships. His impressive run ended with an 8-21, 10-21 defeat against the world No. 2, as India’s wait for a men’s singles gold at the event stretched beyond six decades.Shi Yu Qi was in complete command, delivering a clinical performance to secure the crown in just over 40 minutes. The reigning world champion added the Asian title to his decorated stats, becoming the first Chinese men’s singles winner at the tournament since 2016.
Despite the loss, Ayush emerged as one of the biggest positives of the competition. He further revealed that Ranveer made the ‘parents and sex’ remark eight times during the show, but Samay kept only one instance in the final cut, which led to backlash on the internet. Mentioning Ranveer, he said, “Mera poora mental health kharab kardi usne, usko toh meditation bhi aata hai, kuch bhi nahi aata mujhe toh (He completely ruined my mental health. He even knows meditation; I don’t know anything at all).” He jokingly called Ranveer “the monk who sold my Ferrari.”
