A deal that could see the Parthenon Sculptures returned to Greece is “close”, a former adviser to the country’s government has told the BBC.
Prof Irene Stamatoudi said it “seems negotiations have gone forward” over relocating the antiquities – also known as the Elgin Marbles – which were taken from Athens more than 200 years ago and are displayed in the British Museum.
It came as Sir Keir Starmer and his Greek counterpart met for talks in Downing Street on Tuesday – though it is unclear whether the Elgin Marbles were discussed.
An official account of the meeting released by No 10 made no mention of it, though Greek’s public broadcaster ERT claimed it had been raised in the talks.
A Downing Street spokesperson refused to be drawn over whether or not it had been discussed, saying only: “Understandably, the Greek Prime Minister would have raised many issues but… their discussion focused on areas of shared cooperation.”
The meeting came amid reports that talks over a deal which would see the statues moved to Athens have recently progressed.
The status of the sculptures has been a source of diplomatic tension between the UK and Greece for decades.
Prof Stamatoudi, who advised the Greek culture minister during previous Elgin Marbles negotiations, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme she believes “a deal is close” but was unsure if it was “close enough”.
She said the Greek government has proposed a “cultural, strategic partnership” which would involve other antiquities being sent to the British Museum to fill the gallery which would be left vacant by any return.
Negotiations over what could be sent to the British Museum are “secret”, Prof Stamatoudi said, adding that while she is not personally involved in this round of talks, she believes it would involve “antiquities that attract public attention”.
Prof Statamoudi said securing the return is something “all Greeks are passionate about” as the antiquities are widely considered to be part of the country’s “cultural heritage”.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has made securing the return of the Elgin Marbles a political priority.
The previous government said the sculptures should remain in the museum. In opposition, Labour’s view was they wouldn’t stand in the way of a loan arrangement between the British Museum and Athens if one was arranged.
Earlier this week, Greek government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said Mitsotakis would raise the issue again with Starmer but that it was more of a matter for the British Museum than the government.
He also denied a Sky News report that three private meetings had taken place between senior Greek officials and members of the British Museum board of directors.
Asked if they discussed the potential return of the marbles, Starmer’s official spokesman said: “The government’s position is that we have no plans to change the law that would permit a permanent move, and that the case of decisions relating to the care and management and sculptures are a matter for the trustees for the British Museum, which is operationally independent of the government.”
Downing Street also said the government had not been asked to consider any return proposal by the British Museum.

Starmer is thought to be more open to the statues being relocated than his predecessor, providing a deal can be struck between the Greek government and the British Museum.
The Elgin Marbles were crafted in the 5th century BC and were originally displayed in the Parthenon in Athens. They are considered among the most prized antiquities from the Ancient Greek period.
They were removed by British aristocrat Lord Elgin while Athens was part of the Ottoman Empire and were badly damaged en route to London, where they have been displayed since.
A law called the 1963 British Museum Act prevents the removal of objects from the British Museum’s collection.
The trustees of the British Museum are exploring the possibility of a special loan arrangement with Greece.
But the Greek government has previously said it will not agree to a loan as this would acknowledge the British Museum’s ownership of the sculptures.

This is out of fear that Donald Trump may use his power in the White House to seek retribution against his political enemies, according to the report.
Hoffman had been a vocal supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed campaign as well as a Democratic Party mega-donor. He gave as much as $10 million to her campaign.
Hoffman had said he wished Donald Trump was an “actual martyr” in the failed assassination attempt.
The most important contributing factor to Hoffman’s fears is, however, related to the fact that he had also helped finance a defamation lawsuit filed by a former New York magazine writer named E. Jean Carroll against Trump.
What was the lawsuit against Trump by Jean Carroll about?
This was after the jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in 1996 for which she was to be given $5 million in damages.
Afterwards, another judge ordered Carroll to be given another $83.3 million in damages for defamation after Trump claimed that she was lying regarding the rape allegations.
We generally associate Sanskrit with religious texts, or literary works of bygone eras. However, during World War I, a Sanskrit manual with dramatically different content came to light. It contained instructions to enable vehicles to fly. It describes 12 “fantastic” activities that these crafts will be able to perform. They will also be able to cross multiple media. One of the vehicles described in the manual, Tripura (Three parts) The vehicle could move on land, in the air, in the sea and under water. The manual also explains how these ships can avoid detection. To make the outer surface of the aircraft look like the sky, it can either be hidden with chemical treatments, or machines and mirrors installed inside can be used. Pilots could use a special device to see the view on the ground below them. They can also use “sound capturing devices” to listen to conversations taking place inside other vehicles. Oddly enough, all of the characteristics just mentioned – the strange movements that aircraft can make, their ability to operate on multiple media, maintain low visibility, and readiness to react to the activities of other vehicles – are consistent with what we know about UFOs. The Pentagon and NASA recently acknowledged that UFOs, or UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), are real. Luis Elizondo, who led the Pentagon’s investigation into UAP, collected several years of data based on pilots’ and Navy officers’ accounts of strange aerial or marine objects. Based on these, he highlighted the unusual characteristics displayed by UFOs. Apparently, UFOs do not look like the aircraft we are accustomed to. They are tubular or oval, and do not have wings or visible rotors or windows. Unlike conventional aircraft, they could not only fly through the air without wings, but also accelerate to unusually high speeds, changing direction at gravity-defying velocities. Elizondo said that when planes or submarines approached the UFOs, they would accelerate rapidly and retreat 60 miles within a few seconds. Like the vehicles mentioned in Sanskrit manuals, the UFOs were capable of not only a sudden retreat but also a quick reaction to enemy ships. They can descend rapidly from a height of 80,000 feet – at a speed about 30 times the speed of sound – and position themselves, motionless, over the ocean. They can remain absolutely stable even when affected by strong winds and atmospheric currents, unlike the aircraft we know. Then, the ability to land rapidly and remain stable was demonstrated by the vehicles described in the manual. UFOs can travel underwater, where they have been found to move about twice as fast as nuclear submarines. So they are able to transcend different types of media. Observers have seen UFOs rotating, hovering, retracting, and moving from side to side like ping pong balls – all reminiscent of the “fantastic activities” described in the manual. UFOs are good at “cloaking” or maintaining “low visibility”. They are difficult to detect with advanced radar technology and the naked eye: all that observers can see is the glow around them. This is reminiscent of the processes in the Sanskrit text for camouflage crafts.

Some of the models described in this Sanskrit book were tested in 2017 by Travis Taylor, an aerospace engineer at the University of California, Irvine. He conducted wind tunnel experiments on a tubular model, which lacked wings and rotors. It resembled several of the UFOs mentioned by Elizondo, such as those seen during the 2004 Nimitz incident. Taylor found that the model was airworthy. (YouTube video of the experiment is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpKIj4-bmt0) It was able to rise into the air and remain motionless, displaying remarkable stability even in strong wind gusts. This also matches with Elizondo’s description of UFOs that exhibit anti-gravity lift without visible means of propulsion. In fact, he even discusses the possibility that the models in the book were actually models of spacecraft.
Now we come to the story behind the Sanskrit text. We begin with a man whom the world later knew as Pandit Subbaraya Shastri (1866-1940). Born into a poor, poorly educated family prone to disease, he lost his parents early, and was abandoned by his siblings when he became partially crippled by smallpox. Wandering here and there in this miserable condition, Subbaraya found a holy man who took care of him and cured him. This man became his guru and taught him for five or six years. His teachings were part of a Sanskrit book, handed down in oral tradition. The famous sage of ancient times, Bharadwaja, was credited as the original composer of this book, and its contents were related to enabling vehicles to fly.
What is the relationship between Sanskrit oral tradition, Bharadwaja and flight-capable craft? starting from RigvedaAncient Sanskrit texts were handed down as oral canons. Because India was subject to frequent invasions, and because ancient manuscripts were written on perishable media such as palm leaves, written material was often looted or destroyed – creating an incentive to preserve the oral tradition. Was available. Surprisingly, our oral tradition contains many early descriptions of flightable vehicles. Rigveda Speaks of a divine race (deity) who were considered far superior to us in terms of strength, longevity and technology. These beings were aboard self-propelled flyable vehicles that could traverse multiple media. Due to unfortunate circumstances (details of which can be found here Matsya Purana), Bhardwaj was not accepted by his parents, but luckily he found a loving home with his maternal grandparents. Legend has it that they were Maruts and as a member of this family Bharadwaja gained deep knowledge of flying vehicles.
Now we return to Subbaraya. With the help of a young engineering student in Bangalore, who illustrated the book, it was written between 1918–23, and is called aeronauticsThe colonial government apparently objected to the book’s content and imprisoned Subbaraya, ensuring that the general public did not interact with him. model in aeronautics It was completely different from what the Western world was constructing and as a result, perhaps, many people, including Indian scientists, immediately declared the book a hoax.
However, recently, thinking about the book has changed in some circles. As suggested by Taylor’s experiments and those by Elizondo, the craft described in the book are closer to UFOs or spacecraft than conventional aircraft. Elizondo also mentioned the possibility that UFOs existed in the ancient world (YouTube video of Elizondo’s conversation is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yX6ETCKyPo). He referred to an ancient Roman scroll at least 2,000 years old, where aerial objects shaped like burning shields followed Roman soldiers from battlefield to battlefield. Popular culture has noted this (by 1950s radio TV host and author Frank Edwards, weirder than science1959, Lyle Stuart, NYC) of the discoid flying shields that frightened elephants during Alexander the Great’s 4th-century BC battle with the Indian king Porus. This caused a stampede among the elephants, which worried the Greek soldiers. Perhaps it was this horrific experience that dissuaded the Greek army from continuing the invasion of India.
The technology envisioned in aeronautics According to these descriptions, it was several thousand years old. The materials used were those that were available in the ancient world and may seem unfamiliar now. There is no doubt that they have been replaced by more technologically advanced materials.

aeronautics Use of liquid mercury as fuel has been suggested. At first glance this may seem suspicious. However, current investigations are showing that mercury is quite viable. NASA used mercury in its engines in its SERT mission tests in the 1960s. They were using ion engines where powerful magnets pushed charged particles apart at high speed, creating thrust to power the spacecraft. When mercury was used as fuel instead of krypton or xenon, which are lighter, it could produce more rapid acceleration due to its greater weight. In 2018, a space startup called Apollo Fusion was planning to use mercury to fuel high-power, low-cost rocket engines. However, other fuels are considered to have less environmental risk.
How did a text that was allegedly passed down from the ancients and came to light in the early 20th century contain so much knowledge about spaceflight, especially when this knowledge was not available in the Western world? A lot of research is needed to uncover this mystery. Until then, we are left with an interesting mosaic of clues that suggest that some ancient Indians were familiar with UFOs and even, who knows, perhaps had a hand in developing them.

The slump in growth has also sharpened the debate over whether the central bank is doing enough to support the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
One of India’s worst GDP growth misses in recent memory is suddenly adding more pressure on central bank Governor Shaktikanta Das, who still hasn’t gotten an extension even though his term expires next week. Economists are speculating over the future of Das in the wake of data showing the South Asian economy expanded 5.4% from July to September, a seven-quarter low and far below the Reserve Bank of India’s 7% projection. While Das has been widely expected to extend his six-year run as governor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has yet to provide clarity on his position while stepping up calls for a interest rate cut. All but seven of 43 economists expect the central bank on Friday to hold its benchmark repurchase rate at 6.5% — the level it has maintained for almost two years. India’s inflation in October accelerated to a 14-month high of 6.21% largely due to surging food prices, above the upper band of the government-mandated inflation target of 4%, plus or minus two percentage points. The slowdown should be a “wake up call for the RBI,” said Radhika Piplani, an economist with DAM Capital Advisors Ltd. “The next rate decision is live for a policy action and will be keenly watched for reasons behind the GDP miss,” she added. “If the central bank doesn’t ease now, it could be forced to compensate with a larger-than-expected cut in February.” The slump in growth has also sharpened the debate over whether the central bank is doing enough to support the world’s fastest-growing major economy, as core inflation — which excludes volatile food and energy prices — remains subdued. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal have both called for lower borrowing costs in recent months, and some economists have said the RBI could be doing more to encourage lending to boost growth. More broadly, the lackluster economic growth is taking some of the shine off India among global investors lured by the prospect of an expansion that Das has said is moving toward 8% per year. Foreign inflows in equities have resumed in recent weeks, after two months of declines, amid wagers of rate cuts in the policy, while the rupee has been recording new lows amid global headwinds. Das last month ruled out an immediate rate cut even after the RBI adopted a neutral policy stance, saying there were significant risks to inflation from rising global commodity prices and continuing geopolitical conflicts. He also said India’s economy was “sailing through smoothly” compared with the rest of the world. Yet after the latest quarterly gross domestic product figures, economists lowered their growth estimates for the year through March 2025. Goldman Sachs Group dropped its forecast to 6% from 6.4%, below the RBI’s projection of 7%. “India is indeed slowing down and RBI is in quandary,” wrote Suresh Ganapathy, head of financial services research at Macquarie Capital Securities in a note to clients on Monday. “However, with the recent GDP data, there will be pressure on RBI to cut rates by February 2025” as inflation remains high, he said. Other economists argue that February may be too late. Gaura Sen Gupta, an economist with IDFC First Bank Ltd., said she wouldn’t “recommend waiting for February to cut policy rates, given the transmission lags.” Deutsche Bank’s Kaushik Das said he expected the RBI to first cut the cash reserve requirement to improve the liquidity position, so that rate cut transmission happen “swiftly, once the repo rate is lowered.” Next Governor It’s also unclear who among the three senior RBI officials in the six-member monetary policy committee will be around in February, with the contract for Das set to expire on Dec. 10. Back in 2021, when he was last given an extension, the government had announced it more than a month in advance. The term for Deputy Governor Michael Patra, who has been on the rate-setting panel since its inception in 2016, ends next month. In October, the government appointed three new external members to the MPC. “The relative inexperience of the MPC, coupled with uncertainty surrounding Governor Das’ tenure, add on to monetary policy challenges at a time when both growth and inflation have deviated significantly from the central bank’s anticipated trajectory,” said Priyanka Kishore, an economist at Singapore-based consulting firm Asia Decoded Pte. Das himself has largely refrained from discussing his own future, telling Bloomberg a few months ago that he’s focused on his work at the RBI. “Already my table is full, so I have no time to really think of what next,” he said on Oct. 18. “We will see.”
One of the major political developments in the United States that has gotten little attention in the wake of the Democrats’ astounding loss in the November 5 elections is the success of Arab American political organising.
A new generation of political activists has emerged that has earned representation in unprecedented numbers and impact for the 3.5-million-strong Arab-American community in elected and appointed political offices. It also put Arab Americans on the electoral map for the first time by launching the Uncommitted movement during the Democratic primaries and making a foreign policy issue – Israel’s genocide in Gaza – a national moral issue.
The Democratic Party underestimated the power of this new generation and the intensity of citizen anger, which cost it dearly in the election.
What happened in the Arab American community is a vintage all-American tale. They, like other communities, started their pursuit of political impact as a low-profile immigrant group who became dynamic citizens after political developments threatened their wellbeing and motivated them to take action.
Arab American mobilisation traces its beginnings to small-scale participation in Jesse Jackson’s 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns for the Democratic Party. Jackson was the first serious presidential candidate to include Arab Americans as Democratic Party convention delegates, part of his Rainbow Coalition of “the white, the Hispanic, the Black, the Arab, the Jew, the woman, the Native American, the small farmer, the businessperson, the environmentalist, the peace activist, the young, the old, the lesbian, the gay, and the disabled [who] make up the American quilt”.
His campaign gave momentum to voter registration drives within the Arab American community, which continued in the following three decades. By 2020, nearly 90 percent of Arab Americans were registered to vote. By 2024, the Arab American voter block – in its expansive coalition with other groups – had grown large enough to impact outcomes in critical swing states, especially Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The attacks of 9/11 and the subsequent backlash motivated Arab Americans even more to engage in meaningful politics. Many members of the community refused to live in fear, trying to avoid the intimidation and smears that had long kept their parents and grandparents subdued and quiescent politically.
As Omar Kurdi, founder of Arab Americans of Cleveland, told me, “We were no longer silent because we saw the dangers to us of being quiet and politically inactive. We refused to live in fear of politics. Since then, we have been proud, confident, and active in public. We no longer accept crumbs, but want our share of the pie, and we understand now how we can work for that.”
As a result, over the past two decades, Arab Americans have entered the public sphere and politics at all levels: from local, city, and county positions to state and federal ones.
Elected officials say they succeeded because their constituents knew and trusted them. Candidates who won state and national congressional seats – like Rashida Tlaib in Michigan – inspired hundreds of younger Arab Americans to enter the political fray.
Successful experiences in city politics educated newcomers on how they could impact decision-making, improve their own lives, and serve the entire community. They mastered locally the basics of politics, one Ohio activist told me, “like lobbying, bringing pressure, protesting, educating the public, achieving consensus, and creating coalitions based on shared values, problems, and goals”.
All of this momentum, built up over the years, coalesced into the Uncommitted movement in 2024. As the Biden administration unconditionally supported Israel to carry out genocidal violence in Palestine and Lebanon, Arab-American activists moved to use their newfound leverage as voters in electoral politics.
They joined like-minded social justice activists from other groups that mainstream political parties had long taken for granted – including Muslim Americans, Blacks, Hispanics, youth, progressive Jews, churches, and unions – and sent a strong message during the primaries that they would not support Biden’s re-election bid unless he changed his position on Gaza.
The campaign hoped that tens of thousands of voters in the primaries would send the Democrats a big message by voting “uncommitted”, but in fact, hundreds of thousands of Democrats did so across half a dozen critical states. These numbers were enough to send 30 Uncommitted delegates to the Democratic National Convention in August, where they could lobby their colleagues to shape the party’s national platform.
One activist involved in the process told me they convinced 320 of the other 5,000 delegates to support their demand for a party commitment to a Gaza ceasefire and arms embargo on Israel – not enough to change the party position, but enough to prove that working from inside the political system over time could move things in a better direction.
Intergenerational support and motivation were big factors in the success of the Uncommitted movement. Arab American Institute Executive Director Maya Berry, who has been involved in such activities for three decades, told me that Arab Americans were always in political positions, but in small numbers, so they had little impact. However, they learned how the system works and provided valuable insights when the time came this year to act. She mentioned Abbas Alawiyeh as an example, who co-chairs the Uncommitted National Movement and worked as a congressional staffer for many years.
The Uncommitted movement’s precise contribution to the Democratic Party’s defeat is hotly debated right now. One activist told me the movement “placed Arab Americans at the centre of Democratic Party politics, led the progressives, helped Harris lose in swing states, and nationally brought attention to Gaza, divestment, and moral issues in ways we had never been able to do previously.”
All this occurs in uncharted territory, with no clarity if Arab Americans can influence both the Democratic and Republican parties who might now compete for their vote.
One Arab-American activist in his 30s added, “We are liberated from the Democrats who took us for granted, and we Arab Americans are now a swing vote officially.”
Other activists I spoke to thought the election experience could set the stage for a larger movement to counter the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC, though that would require conquering the next hurdle of establishing Political Action Committees (PACs) and raising substantial funds.
That is a future possibility. For now, it is important to recognise that a national-level Arab-American political effort has been born from the fires and devastation of the US-Israeli genocide in Palestine and Lebanon. Whether it can improve the wellbeing of Arab Americans and all Americans will be revealed in the years ahead.

Abdulkafi, an English teacher from Aleppo, saw his father for the first time in years on Monday, days after rebels launched a major offensive and took control of the northern Syrian city from government forces.
“He is 85, an old man. He never dreamed he would see me again before he died,” said Abdulkafi, who lives in opposition territory. Until the offensive he had been unable to cross into regime-held Aleppo.
A video of the encounter, seen by the BBC, shows the two men embracing and sobbing with emotion.
Abdulkafi is one of several people inside Aleppo who have spoken to the BBC since the city was captured by the armed rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and allies from forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.
They described being treated with respect by HTS fighters and increased supplies of electricity and water – but also spoke of their fears at war returning to Aleppo and distrust that the former al-Qaeda-linked group’s professed moderation would last.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced by the recent fighting, according to the UN.
Many interviewees requested anonymity for their own safety. Some details of individual accounts could not be verified due to the difficulty of reporting independently from Syria.
Many people in Aleppo are scared of renewed fighting, the locals the BBC spoke to said. Air strikes by the Syrian government and allied Russian forces have already killed dozens, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group.
One man told the BBC his main worry was the bombardment that he feared could hit the city at any point. He said he had stopped his family from even going to the corner shop.
“We’re living in complete apprehension,” he said. He added that the air strikes that have hit the city over the past few days reminded him of earlier periods in the war.
Aleppo, most of which had been captured by rebels in the early years of the Syrian civil war, was retaken by Syrian government forces backed by Russia in 2016 after a gruelling siege.
Since then, the city has mostly avoided direct warfare. The Syrian government claims credit for what it says is the ongoing reconstruction of the city, which until the war was Syria’s commercial hub.
But NGOs and independent journalists accuse the government of widespread human rights abuses there, including torture and killings of civilians and non-existent democratic rights.
Abdulkafi and his father’s reunion was joyful – but Abdulkafi said some of his relatives were afraid to be seen with him for fear of retribution were regime forces to retake the city once again.
“Nineteen Eighty-Four is applied in Aleppo. Assad’s image is on every building, streets, on every corner. He is controlling their minds,” he said, referring to the George Orwell novel about totalitarianism.
HTS was set up under a different name, Jabhat al-Nusra, in 2011 as a direct affiliate of al-Qaeda. It has since split from the group and claims to have moderated its ideology.
Others in Aleppo remain fearful however. One woman said people were “confused and scared” following the rebel takeover. She said she hadn’t left her house at first, but later went for walks and drives with her family after hearing that civilians were not being harassed by the rebels.
“Everywhere was relatively calm. But everyone looked scared and anxious, you could sense it in their faces and their reactions. No-one looked comfortable.
“People are scared, because we don’t trust anyone or what their reaction might be to what’s happening now.
“We feel let down by everyone. We don’t know what’s going to happen to us.”
One man, Mohammad, told the BBC on Sunday that he had seen some armed men on the streets while he had been out buying food. Many other people had been stocking up on supplies, he said.
“When I went out the militiamen asked me if I was going to leave the city, they said to me ‘don’t worry it is safe for you’,” he said.
“One of the men from the militia asked why my sister, who I was with, did not have her head covered. But they didn’t tell her to cover it – they just asked why.
“We are grateful that these armed groups have taken over. They are better than the government.
“There is a lot of fear, fear that the city will run out of food, but our biggest fear is of the Russia and Syrian government bombardment.”
George Meneshian, a Greek-Armenian political analyst who is in contact with Armenians in Aleppo, said Christians in the city had not experienced any problems since the HTS takeover.
“On the first day, an HTS fighter knocked on the door of an Armenian neighbour and assured them that they would definitely not harm them,” he told the BBC, adding that his sources were afraid to directly speak to the media due to fear of retribution.
“They said they would respect them and allow them to do whatever they want, as Christians and as Armenians.”
Meneshian said Christians were suspicious of HTS promises, saying minority groups in Syria had previously been persecuted by jihadist groups which at first said they would not harm non-Muslims. He said many had grown used to Assad’s rule, which was authoritarian but at least did not actively persecute Armenians.
“There are precedents for Islamist militias initially not harming anyone, but afterwards committing crimes against minorities. Hopefully this will not be the case.”
A Syrian opposition leader abroad told Reuters that rebels taking control of Aleppo also paves the way for Syrians displaced within the country and up to 600,000 in neighbouring Turkey to eventually return home.
Abdulkafi, who lives in the HTS-controlled city of Al-Dana in Idlib, said that minorities had nothing to fear from the group, which he stressed he disagreed with.
“They are showing much more flexibility, because the highest achievement that HTS can get is acceptance from the world. This doesn’t mean that I like them.”

The government is likely to expand its eletric vehicle (EV) policy to benefit automakers producing electric vehicles in existing factories, according to a report by news agency Reuters.

This raises the question of whether one should opt for an EV or not in 2025.
Meanwhile Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, will be launching its first EV, the eVX concept-based e Vitara, in 2025.
Skoda and Volkswagen India are also planning to introduce the Enyaq and the ID.4 respectively.
The remaining are from luxury carmakers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, amongst others.
Should you consider an electric vehicle or not?
An important aspect to consider is the price which may likely come down if the EV policy is changed to favour carmakers like Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Volkswagen and Skoda, which are already present in India and have manufacturing facilities here.
Though pricing may become more friendly, there are a whole host of other factors to consider such as use cases. For instance, if the primary use is within the city, then EVs can be a more friendly option.
