A day later, shutters were pulled down, internet services were shut down, schools were closed, roads were emptied and a police flag march took place communal clashes Four died, there was silence in Sambhal on Monday.

At the center of the violence in the city in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district is the Mughal-era royal Jama Masjid, which Hindus claim was built on the ruins of the centuries-old Sri Harihar Temple dedicated to Kalki, the 10th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

After Ayodhya’s Babri Masjid, Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Masjid and Mathura’s Shahi Eidgah, is this the beginning of another long-running mosque-temple dispute in Uttar Pradesh?

News18 found the side of Hindu and Muslim petitioners.

Sambhal is on fire

Sunday’s tension began when a crowd protested against a court-ordered survey of the 16th-century mosque led by a lawyer commission investigating claims that the mosque was built over a pre-existing temple. According to district administration officials.

along with four deaths skirmishes Many people including 20 police personnel were injured. The condition of a police constable is critical due to head injury. Authorities have detained 21 persons, including three women, and launched an investigation with plans to charge those involved under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).

District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia said two people died due to gunshot wounds from country-made pistols, while the cause of the third death remains uncertain pending the post-mortem report.

Survey done, report will be submitted on November 29

District administration officials said Sunday’s violence had been erupting since last Tuesday when the survey began.

survey This came after a petition claimed that Mughal emperor Babur had demolished a Harihar temple at that site in 1529. Initially, to avoid disturbing the prayers, the survey proceedings were postponed till Sunday, but the survey proceedings led to unrest. Despite the clashes, officials completed the survey, including videography and photography, as directed by the court.

Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who is involved in the Gyanvapi controversy, also confirmed that the survey report will be submitted by November 29.

hindu petition

Jama Masjid is a protected monument notified under the Ancient Monuments Protection Act, 1904, and is listed as a ‘Monument of National Importance’ by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

However, the Sambhal mosque came into the news after Jain’s petition representing eight petitioners.

The petition claims that Sambhal has unique significance in Hindu scriptures as the birthplace of Lord Kalki, the future incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It further states that the temple was built by Lord Vishwakarma at the beginning of the universe and has a unique idol symbolizing both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

“But the temple was destroyed by the Mughal emperor Babur in 1526 AD during his invasion of India, aimed at asserting Islamic dominance and subjugating the Hindus. Hari Shankar Jain, one of the petitioners, told News18, “In our petition, we have asked the court for permission to access the temple and an injunction to stop any disturbance at the site.

Citing the ‘Baburnama’, Jain claimed that Babur’s memoirs confirm the existence of a temple, which he reportedly demolished in 1529. Supporting the claim, the petitioners cited an 1875 report by the British archaeologist ACL Carlyle (Tours in the Central Doab and Gorakhpur, 1874). -1875 and 1875-1876), which observed that the pillars of the mosque bear a striking resemblance to the pillars of old Hindu temples, hidden under plaster. Removal of plaster on one pillar revealed the red pillars typical of Hindu temple architecture.

Additionally, the petitioners highlighted an inscription quoted in the 1875 report, which stated that the mosque was built in 1526 AD by Babur’s courtier Mir Hindu Beg, who allegedly converted a temple into a mosque. An ASI report has also identified features within the mosque that indicate its connection to Hindu temple structures, further adding to the controversy.

Muslim side’s version

Lawyer Zafar Ali, who is also part of the royal Jama Masjid committee, rejected the Hindu side’s claims about the temple existing at the site. He said, “The Hindu side has no evidence to prove that there was any temple here before the mosque. They cannot even tell in which year or century the alleged temple was built.”

He said that if a temple had existed, there would have been historical records or documents about it, which the petitioners lack. He also said that Baburnama and other texts cited by the Hindu side require thorough judicial interpretation to establish their credibility. He acknowledged the historical importance of Sambhal as the capital of Prithviraj Chauhan, but said that this does not prove the existence of the temple. He said that no such claim has been made since independence. “Though some cases were filed in 1877 and 1879, they were dismissed with verdicts in favor of Jama Masjid,” he said, adding that the temple’s claim is based on rumors and not facts.

political turn

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticized the UP government’s handling of the controversy, calling it “partisan and hasty” and calling the incident “extremely unfortunate”. Appealing for peace, Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The administration’s insensitive action without listening to all parties has worsened the situation and led to the deaths of many people – for which the BJP government is directly responsible.”

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged a “conspiracy to spread tension in the name of survey” and demanded immediate intervention of the Supreme Court. “A case should be registered against those who took the sloganeering with them for disturbing peace and harmony,” he said. With the aim of disturbing social harmony.”

SP MP Zia ur Rehman Barke, facing charges related to the violence, defended the mosque as a historic structure, citing a 1991 Supreme Court ruling that religious places should remain as they were in 1947.

In response, BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said, “No one has the right to break the law.” If any court has passed any order then it will be implemented. The judicial process is available to those who seek modification of the order.”

Other such controversies in UP

Ayodhya’s Babri Masjid dispute: Controversy It is centered around a plot of land in Ayodhya, which Hindus consider the birthplace of Lord Rama. Under Babur, the Babri Masjid was built on this site in 1528. Hindu groups claimed that it was built after the demolition of the Ram temple. The controversy escalated so much that the mosque was demolished by Kar Sevaks on December 6, 1992, sparking riots across the country.

The matter reached the court and in 2010, Allahabad High Court divided the land into three parts between Hindu, Muslim and Nirmohi Akhara. However, the Supreme Court, in a landmark judgment on November 9, 2019, awarded the entire 2.77-acre disputed site to Hindus for the construction of the Ram temple, while directing the government to allot 5 acres of land to Muslims to build the Ram temple. . Mosque In Ayodhya.

Mathura’s Shahi Idgah Mosque controversy: The mosque built during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb in Mathura is located near Krishna birthplaceIt is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Hindu litigants claim that the mosque was built after the demolition of the Keshavdev temple in the 17th century. In December, a local court accepted the Hindu side’s petition, but the Muslim side lodged an objection in the High Court. Currently, nine cases are pending in Mathura courts, with Hindu petitioners continuously demanding the removal of the mosque from the 13.77-acre complex, which it shares with the Katra Keshav Dev Temple.

Responding to an RTI query, the ASI, citing a gazette of November 1920, confirmed that Aurangzeb had demolished the temple to build the mosque. The ASI document states that parts of the Katra mound were occupied before the demolition of the temple and were later used for the construction of the mosque, adding historical significance to the Hindu claims.

Kashi’s Gyanvapi controversy: In August 2021, Rakhi Singh and four other Hindu women approached the Varanasi Civil Court, seeking the right to worship Hindu deities within the Gyanvapi Mosque complex throughout the year. The plaintiff said in his claim that the Gyanvrip Masjid and its premises were once a Hindu temple. He claimed that Aurangzeb had demolished the temple and built a mosque there. The court directed the ASI to survey the Gyanvapi Mosque. Its purpose was to determine whether the mosque was built on a pre-existing structure of a Hindu temple or not. In his report, ASI It was discovered that what appeared to be a pre-existing structure was destroyed in the 17th century, and “parts of it were modified and reused”, based on scientific studies, it can be said. That before “there” a large Hindu temple existed. Construction of existing mosque”.

The Growing Trend Of 'Grey Divorces'- Expert Reveals Reason, Shares Tips

The Growing Trend Of 'Grey Divorces'- Expert Reveals Reason, Shares Tips

The music world is surprised with this news that AR Rahman has decided to divorce his wife, Saira Banu, after almost 30 years together. While these situations are undoubtedly tough, they remind us of the importance of approaching divorce with kindness and respect.

It’s a common misconception that divorce must be filled with anger or hostility but with the right mindset, couples can also separate on good terms. Having gone through his own separation after 20 years of marriage while maintaining a good relationship with his ex-wife. What surprises more is that nowadays mostly couple decides to separate after age 50 and that’s called ‘Grey Divorce’.

There has been a remarkable shift in the divorce landscape over the past decade. The phenomenon called “grey divorce” – couples splitting after age 50 – isn’t just a trend; it’s becoming a social movement that’s reshaping our understanding of late-life relationships and challenging traditional notions of ageing together. While divorce rates in younger age groups have stabilised or declined, separations among long-term married couples have surged, creating what we call a “relationship revolution” in later life.

Here is a list of reasons for the rise of ‘grey divorce’ as shared by Dr Chandni Tugnait, MD (A.M) Psychotherapist, Coach & Healer , Founder & Director, Gateway of Healing.

● Changing social dynamics:

Evolving social norms have dramatically influenced this trend. Today’s 50+ generation is healthier, more active, and more financially independent than ever before. We frequently hear phrases like “I want more out of life” or “We’ve grown in different directions” during therapy sessions. Women, in particular, are increasingly initiating these separations, empowered by financial independence and changing gender roles.

● Technology’s role:

Studies indicate how technology has become a surprising catalyst. Dating apps and social media have opened new avenues for connection, making the prospect of starting over less daunting. Clinical observations show numerous individuals reconnecting with old flames or finding new partners online, challenging the notion that romance belongs only to the young.

● Financial implications:

Economic factors always have a major role in all aspects of human life.  The baby boomer generation has accumulated significant wealth, making divorce more financially feasible. However, grey divorce often comes with complex financial challenges, particularly regarding retirement savings and property division.

● Impact on family structures:

Grey divorce creates unique family dynamics. Adult children often struggle with their parents’ separation more than younger children might. Therapy sessions frequently reveal families grappling with holiday arrangements, grandparenting roles, and the redistribution of family responsibilities.

● Cultural shift:

Perhaps most significantly, there is a fundamental shift in how society views marriage. The

notion of staying together “for the sake of the children” or “till death do us part” is being replaced by what is called “life satisfaction prioritisation.” People are increasingly asking themselves, “Is this how I want to spend my remaining years?”

● Healthcare considerations:

Health-related issues often influence grey divorce decisions. Long-term caregiving responsibilities, differing approaches to ageing, and health management can strain relationships. I have seen couples separating due to divergent views on retirement lifestyle choices and health priorities.

● Future trends:

This trend shows no signs of slowing. Based on the current scenario, we can predict continued growth in grey divorce rates, accompanied by new support systems and services specifically designed for this demographic. The emergence of specialised divorce coaches, therapists, and support groups catering to this group is already evident.

This growing phenomenon presents both challenges and opportunities. While grey divorce can be emotionally and financially challenging, it also represents a new kind of freedom – the freedom to reimagine life in its later chapters.

Microsoft Signs 10-Year Deal With Nware After UK Blocks Activision Acquisition

Microsoft said on Friday it signed a 10-year deal with Nware to bring Xbox and Activision Blizzard games to the Spanish cloud-gaming platform, days after Britain blocked its $69 billion (nearly Rs. 5,64,200 crore) buyout of the Call of Duty maker.

The agreement marks the latest effort by Microsoft to ease fears its purchase of Activision would hinder competition in cloud gaming, which was the reason cited by the Competition and Markets Authority to veto the biggest deal in gaming.

“While it’s still early for the emerging cloud segment in gaming, this new partnership combined with our other recent commitments will make more popular games available on more cloud game streaming services than they are today,” Microsoft President Brad Smith said.

The Xbox console maker, which plans to appeal CMA’s decision, has signed similar deals with the owners of streaming platforms including Valve, Nvidia and Boosteroid.

It had also offered Sony — a vocal opponent of the deal — a 10-year Call of Duty license, in line with an agreement to bring the multi-billion dollar franchise to Nintendo’s Switch.

In its decision on Wednesday, the CMA said Microsoft had an estimated 60 percent – 70 percent of global cloud gaming services as well as competitive advantages including owning Xbox, PC operating system Windows and cloud provider Azure.

The Activision deal is the biggest involving technology companies the regulator has blocked. Europe will decide on the deal by May 22. The US Federal Trade Commission is also seeking to block it.

Microsoft shares were slightly lower in US premarket trading, while those of Activision ticked up 0.2 percent.

Not Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma`s son Akaay, clarifies cricketer`s sister

Speculation by fans of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli that face of the celebrity couple`s son Akaay was revealed during the India vs Australia Test match in Perth has been put to rest by the sister of the star batter. Since Akaay`s birth in February, the couple has kept his face private, making the video a topic of discussion online. A video that went viral on Sunday showed Anushka cheering for Virat after he scored a century. Many assumed the child seen behind Anushka in the video was Akaay. However, Virat`s sister, Bhawna Kohli Dhingra, clarified the misunderstanding through her Instagram Stories.

She wrote, “Have been seeing Virat and Anushka`s friend`s daughter being mistaken for Akaay on social media. The child in the picture is not our Akaay.. thank you.”

Virat and Anushka tied the knot on December 11, 2017 in Italy. The duo was blessed with Vamika on January 11, 2021. The couple was tight-lipped about their second pregnancy. On February 15, 2024, they became parents to son Akaay.

Why Virushka does not show their kids face

After the birth of their daughter Vamika in 2021, Kohli revealed the good news on his Instagram and a fan asked about if he will be showing a glimpse of the bday. However, Kohli replied – “No we have decided as a couple to not expose our child to social media before she has an understanding of what social media is and can make her own choice,” he said. The couple quietly welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Akaay Kohli, in February this year. They welcomed him in London where they currently reside.

Virat Kohli praises wife Anushka Sharma

Meanwhile, shedding off his lean patch, Virat roared back to the form with a Test century after over 500 days in a territory where he thrives the most, Australia, breaking some records.  He scored an unbeaten 100 in 143 balls, with eight fours and two sixes.

The year 2024 has been a challenging one for Kohli, who had managed just one half-century in his previous 13 innings. However, he made a strong comeback with a century at the Optus Stadium, with his wife, Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma, present in the stands.

Speaking to broadcasters post-declaration, Kohli praised Anushka’s unwavering support, saying, “Yes, look I mean Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. So she knows everything that goes on behind the scenes, when I am in the room, what goes on in the head, when you don`t play well, you make a few mistakes, when you are getting yourself in. I just wanted to contribute to the team`s cause, you know I am not a guy who wants to hang around just for a sake of it. I take pride in performing for my country and just feels amazing, the fact that she is here makes it even more special.”

Allu Arjun says he was ‘jobless’ after first film, Pushpa 2 director Sukumar saved his career: ‘No one worked with me’

Nov 25, 2024 07:03 PM IST

Allu Arjun and Sukumar are ready with their latest collaboration in Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film releases in theatres on December 5.

Allu Arjun‘s Pushpa 2: The Rule is one of the most awaited films of the year. The actor was present at the grand event that was organized in Chennai on Sunday for the launch of the new song Kissik, featuring Sreeleela. A report by Indian Express states that at the event, Allu Arjun recalled his earlier years in the industry when he made his debut with Gangotri, after which he was not offered a single film. It was Sukumar who had faith in him, and this was the beginning of a long collaboration between the two. What Allu Arjun said

Allu Arjun went on stage and thanked the fans for the huge welcome and love. He then talked about his collaboration with director Sukumar and said, “I made my debut as a lead actor with Raghavendra Rao garu’s Gangotri. He delivered a superhit, but I didn’t deliver as an actor. No one came to work with me after the release of the film. Then, a debut filmmaker came up to me and offered Arya. There has been no looking back since then.”

‘We are all in this together’

Sukumar was not present at the pre-release event as he was busy with the mixing and post-production edit of the film. Allu Arjun added, “When I look back at my career, and if I have to point out the one person who had the maximum impact in my life, it would have to be Sukumar. Even now, he is busy with the post-production. His absence speaks louder than his presence. I miss you, Sukku. We are all in this together.”

Sukumar made his directorial debut with Arya in 2004, which was a huge box office success. It starred Allu Arjun in the lead. They also made the sequel to the film, Arya 2, which released in 2009.

Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise. Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh will reprise their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat respectively. It will be released in theatres on December 5 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali.

Redmi A4 5G First Impressions: An Entry-Level Beast?

Redmi A4 5G First Impressions: An Entry-Level Beast?

Consumers just aren’t buying as many entry-level smartphones as they used to. At least, that is what the IDC’s most recent report about the Indian smartphone market dictates. It clearly states that the market witnessed a strong decline of 36 percent year on year with entry-level smartphones. While you will find plenty of entry-level smartphones on sale in the market, most first-time smartphone buyers seem to be reaching out for a budget smartphone (from Rs. 10,000 onwards). And that’s mainly down to the fact that entry-level smartphones over the years have kind of ruined it for themselves. Given the paltry hardware that manufacturers are able to squeeze with such budget restrictions, the overall experience (despite ignoring camera performance) has also been lacklustre at best.

The only prominent player, Xiaomi, seems to be doing something about this. It has now launched its all-new Redmi A4 5G. As its moniker aptly explains, the phone delivers 5G connectivity and is priced from Rs. 8,499 for the 4GB + 64GB option, while the top-end 4GB + 128GB variant is available at Rs. 9,499.

The Redmi A4 5G has a 3.5mm headphone jack

Our Sparkle Purple review unit, despite its polycarbonate frame and rear panel, appears polished and could easily be mistaken for a more expensive budget device. It has flat sides along with flat front and rear panels. The chunky camera module at the back appears to have four camera cutouts and feels out of place on an entry-level device.

The phone has a large footprint but does not feel too heavy at 212 grams. Its plastic design also has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance, which is good to see in this segment.

The dated display notch at the top of its large 6.88-inch 120Hz, HD+ display is the only giveaway you are holding for an entry-level device. During my brief usage, I took it outside, and it appeared to tackle the outdoors quite well.

The phone has a slightly dated notch at the top of its 6.88-inch display, which has a taller aspect ratio

Unlock the smartphone, and you will be greeted with Xiaomi’s HyperOS software, based on Android 14. As with all entry-level devices, this one is no different. And I was greeted with a ton of preinstalled apps and games. However, my initial impressions are that it all seems well optimised (especially when scrolling), even if launching an app does take an extra second than it would on a budget smartphone.

Back to the cameras, there’s just one rear-facing camera. Despite the four camera cutouts, there’s a primary 50-megapixel camera (f/1.8 aperture) and a second camera for depth sensing (when using the Portrait mode) that users cannot access. So, you are indeed left with a very basic camera experience. The selfie camera is also a basic 5-megapixel unit.

Powering the above hardware and software experience is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC. Xiaomi has backed it up with LPDDR4X RAM but offers UFS 2.2 storage. The processor is manufactured using the 4nm fabrication process, so it will be able to deliver better performance with better efficiency compared to what’s currently available in smartphones at this price point.

There’s not much in the box, but you do get a 33W charger that charges the phone at 18W

Assisting the new chipset is a 5,160mAh battery. Given the smartphone’s pricing, it is a bit surprising to find a 33W charger in the box. However, the Redmi A4 5G charges at 18W, so I am expecting faster charging speeds despite the slightly higher capacity over the Redmi A3.

The few hours I have spent with the Redmi A4 5G have been enough to convince me that Xiaomi is out to stir up this much-ignored market segment. The segment as such has not been entirely ignored (there are still plenty of choices to pick from) but seems to be deprived of any innovation or sensible hardware choices over the past couple of years. Xiaomi seems to have figured out a winning formula, and the 4nm Qualcomm chipset shows positive signs of delivering a smooth and stable software experience, at the least. Can Xiaomi’s Redmi A4 5G be as good as a budget smartphone? Stay tuned for our detailed review.
