Divyenndu on reuniting with `Madgaon Express` co-star Pratik Gandhi for `Agni`

Actor Divyenndu says his creative partnership with Pratik Gandhi, his co-star from “Madgaon Express” and the upcoming movie “Agni”, is one rooted in mutual respect and ease. The duo first starred together in actor Kunal Kemmu`s directorial debut “Madgaon Express”, which was released to universal praise in March this year. Their upcoming movie is “Agni”, a Prime Video film on firefighters.

“He is a great friend of mine. We both really like each other as actors and on screen there is a certain kind of ease we have, there is a certain kind of mutual admiration we have for each other and working with him is always a joy,” Divyenndu told PTI in an interview. Directed by Rahul Dholakia of ¿Raees¿ fame, “Agni” is a never-before-told story about firefighters and pays homage to their fearless spirit, honour, and sacrifices. It is backed by Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani`s Excel Entertainment in association with Prime Video. Divyenndu, also known for starring in critically-acclaimed series “Mirzapur” and “The Railway Men”, said “Agni” was special because it is the first film that talks about the lives of firefighters.

“When we think of our heroes, we think of army, navy, military, cricketers or say actors, we tend to glorify them a lot. But I think the job that people from the fire department do is such a thankless job. Nobody talks about them. “Imagine a situation where a building is on fire, your reaction would be to run from there and there are these bunch of people who think that we have to go in now. It`s amazing. So, we have tried to portray that. With that it`s again a thriller so there is a suspense in the film like who`s doing it, what doing it. So, that`s `Agni` for you,” he added. Playing different characters tends to have an impact on one`s psyche, he added. “It`s bound to happen. You are a human being, you go and behave in a certain manner everyday and after a cut it cannot just end. There will always be some of its residue left inside you. But I am happy about it. I`m not complaining, like I said, I always wanted to do this.

“I always had one aim, to do as different kinds of films as possible, as different characters as possible. I am not someone who really is happy that this one thing has worked, so let`s consolidate this and make this your own. No, I want to do as different work as possible.” Divyenndu was speaking on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to attend the premiere of his film “Saali Mohabbat”, directed by Tisca Chopra. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Manish Malhotra, the movie also features Radhika Apte, Anshumaan Pushkar, Sauraseni Maitra, Sharat Saxena and Anurag Kashyap. It focuses on an unpretentious housewife who tells a story of infidelity, deceit and murder. While her listeners are riveted, one of them gets the message she intended.

“It`s very hard to explain this film, it`s just a human story, I would say,” Divyenndu said. The actor also said he is happy to return as Munna Bhaiya in “Mirzapur: The Film”. Created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the movie will be released in 2026 and also feature Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal are set to return as Kaleen Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit. “The `Mirzapur` film is happening and he is going to be back. Even, I don`t know anything more than this,” Divyenndy said. Besides, the actor has a string of projects lined up for release. “I have done a show called `Tatkaal`, based on the scam of Tatkal tickets, which is an incredible thing. I have done one more film `Pehchaan` for Jio Studios, which is a suspense psychological thriller. “I am working on my next project about which I can`t tell you right now, you will get to know about it in a few days. So, yeah, its all happening. I`m not complaining.”

Apple launched new MacBook Pro and iMac models at its ‘Scary fast’ launch event on Tuesday and the new computers are powered by the firm’s latest M3 chips. These next generation 3nm chips offer improved CPU and GPU performance compared to their predecessors and are available in M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max variants. Days after the new models were launched, the first performance benchmark of the new M3 Max chip has surfaced online, and the new chip appears to be as fast as Apple’s M2 Ultra processor.

The first listing for the M3 Max chip running on one of Apple’s new computers has surfaced on Geekbench, a popular benchmarking website. It appears that the benchmark test was run on the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, as the listing includes the “Mac 15,9” model identifier. The M3 Max is currently Apple’s most powerful computer chip.

The new M3 Max chip on the 16-inch MacBook Pro has a Geekbench 6 score of 21,084 points in the multi-core test. This is significantly higher than its predecessor, which scored 14,495 points. Apple claimed during the event that the new M3 Max chip offered “up to 50 percent” better performance than the M2 Max. The benchmark scores suggest that Apple’s claims related to speed improvements are accurate.

When compared with the M2 Ultra chip, the new M3 Max chip is a few points behind — the M2 Ultra running on a Mac Pro (2023) had a score of 21,187 points. This shows that Apple’s new M3 Max chip is on par with its most powerful M2-series chip. However, the website also has a listing for the M2 Ultra-powered Mac Studio (2023) with a slightly higher multi-core score of 21,317 points.

It is worth noting that synthetic benchmark scores are useful to get a sense of the performance improvements offered by a new processor or device, but actual day-to-day performance can also be affected by a variety of factors. Two users running the same hardware might end up with different scores.

We can expect to see more benchmarks of the M3 Max on the new 16-inch MacBook Pro in the coming days as the devices announced at the last launch event are set to go on sale later this month, starting on November 7.

Reliance Jio True 5G Network Extends Battery Life by Up to 40 Percent, Claims Official

Reliance Jio’s True 5G network can improve the smartphone’s battery life by up to 40 percent, a company official highlighted during the company’s earnings call for the second quarter (Q2) of FY25. The telecommunications provider leverages a standalone (SA) architecture along with other technical features for its 5G services in India and assigns the spectrum bandwidth as per the application — both of which help it deliver improved battery life and efficiency on smartphones.

Better Battery Life on Jio True 5G Network

Telecom providers in India such as Bharti Airtel utilise a non-standalone access (NSA) approach which involves the deployment of 5G technology on top of the existing 4G infrastructure. However, Reliance Jio has taken a different route by adopting SA which uses the 700MHz band for rural areas and the 3.5GHz band for urban centres. Additionally, it has also reserved the 26GHz mmWave band for high-capacity applications. This is managed by the company’s smart spectrum management which allocates the appropriate spectrum based on the usage.

This approach helps the telecom provider improve the smartphone’s battery life from 20 to 40 percent, as per Kiran͏͏ Thomas, President͏͏ of͏͏ Reliance͏͏ Jio͏͏ Infocomm͏͏ Limited. The company has deployed Voice over New Radio (VoNR) — a 5G wireless communication standard which routes calls over the 5G network and is claimed to deliver better voice quality, lower call setup time, and higher security.

Reliance Jio also utilises other technologies such as layer management based on User Equipment (UE) capability for improved carrier aggregation, time division duplex (TDD) interference across spectrum bands, and dedicated network slicing. It has programmable networks with beam management, traffic steering and energy efficiency based on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

The company official also highlights that Jio’s True 5G network can provide more better location accuracy without solely relying on GPS. It calculates the location based on the angle of arrival of each beam, promising positioning accuracy up to 10 metres.

An Indian research group backed by Microsoft and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani is using generative AI, the technology behind chatbot sensation ChatGPT, for a mobile assistant that aims to make information on government schemes accessible in multiple languages.

The Jugalbandi bot, named after a duet where two musicians riff off each other, uses language models from government-backed AI4Bharat and artificial intelligence tech through Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service.

Operating over Meta Platforms-owned WhatsApp messaging service, the bot can understand questions in 10 Indian languages and retrieves information that is usually written in English on government websites to relay it in local languages.

Microsoft said the bot could help bridge the language barrier in India where English is spoken by just 11 percent of the 1.4 billion population, citing examples where it helped a student get a scholarship and a farmer apply for pension for his parents.

There are, however, some accuracy issues.

Like Google‘s Bard and Microsoft-owned Bing, Jugalbandi can sometimes deliver answers that seem convincing but are made up – a tendency that has been called hallucination.

Jugalbandi’s application is also limited by a lack of data as organizations often do not have either the bandwidth or expertise in building data pipelines to feed to the bot.

“Sometimes these models do make errors. They are probabilistic machines,” said Pratyush Kumar, co-principal investigator at AI4Bharat and a principal researcher at Microsoft Research India.

He added that AI4Bharat is trying to resolve such issues by seeking feedback from organizations such as Gram Vaani, a Delhi-based social enterprise that closely works with farmers.

OnePlus 13 is confirmed to debut in China at some point this month. We still don’t have an official confirmation on the exact date, but a new teaser by chipmaker Qualcomm suggests the possible chipset on the upcoming OnePlus phone. The OnePlus 13 appears to be powered by a new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip aka Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. This flagship Android processor is believed to power the next wave of flagships from Xiaomi, and Oppo.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Teased

Qualcomm posted a new video on the official microsite for the upcoming Snapdragon Summit teasing the arrival of the new Snapdragon 8 chip. The video assures that the upcoming chipset will have Oryon cores. The same architecture is used in Snapdragon X chips that power the latest Copilot+ PCs. The Oryon cores are expected to bring noticeable improvements in performance and power efficiency.

In the video, a smartphone with a circular camera island is seen carrying the new chipset. The prototype has a design similar to the upcoming OnePlus 13. The prototype has OnePlus’s signature camera module housed in the top-left corner, which resembles the design language of the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11.

Additionally, Louis Lee, the President of OnePlus China reposted the new Snapdragon 8 teaser chip video from his Weibo handle, suggesting that the OnePlus 13 will be the first smartphone in the world to debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The new chipset will be launched on October 22, during the Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii.

The Xiaomi 15 was earlier speculated to debut as the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. iQOO, Honor, and Oppo are also expected to follow suit with Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered phones in China.

OnePlus 13 Specifications (Expected)

As per past leaks, the OnePlus 13 will come with a 6.82-inch LTPO BOE X2 micro quad curved OLED display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to pack up to 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage.

OnePlus 13 is expected to boast a triple rear camera system, comprising a 50-megapixel LYT-808 main camera. The camera setup could also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom.
