The cryptocurrency market has seen a massive surge in recent days, following US President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the recently concluded election. Bitcoin has seen its price rise by as much as 26.55 percent over the past week, while the total market cap of the crypto sector briefly surpassed the $3 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,53,13,310 crore) mark, according to data from real-time price tracking websites. Bitcoin surged past the $89,900 (roughly Rs. 75.9 lakh) over the past 24 hours and it is presently trading at $87,675 (roughly Rs, 73.9 lakh).

Most cryptocurrencies have also risen in value after Trump won the US Presidential election earlier this month. The 78-year-old is set to become the 47th President of the US. Market analysts have told Gadgets360 that crypto investors are hopeful that the President-elect will adhere to his crypto-related promises made during his campaign.

Why Crypto Investors Are Optimistic About Donald Trump’s Return to the White House

During his campaign, Trump reportedly said he would replace US SEC chair Gary Gensler with a crypto-friendly candidate. In recent years, Gensler has initiated investigations into multiple crypto companies like Coinbase and Binance.

He also promised to make Bitcoin a reserve asset like gold and suggested that crypto taxes should be removed, reports have noted. Vouching for a new era for the virtual digital assets industry, Trump has also reportedly said that he will support self-custody of assets for investors, which could help them protect their funds from hacks on crypto exchanges.

Crypto Firms React to Ongoing Bitcoin Rally

Crypto market analysts believe that Trump’s victory in the recently concluded US Presidential election has fuelled optimism in the sector. “Trump’s support for digital assets could lead to more progressive regulations, fostering an environment conducive to greater institutional and retail investment in the sector. This represents a transformative moment for the crypto and Web3 space,” Vishal Sacheendran, Head of Regional Markets at Binance told Gadgets360.

ZebPay COO Raj Karkara said Trump’s election would prompt more investors to turn to Bitcoin amid the ongoing rally. “Bitcoin’s dominance stands strong at around 58.25 percent, highlighting its central role in the crypto ecosystem. According to CoinMarketCap, community sentiment aligns with this rise, with nearly 76 percent viewing the momentum as bullish, signalling heightened investor confidence. ZebPay has also seen a 55 percent increase in trading volume over the past 24 hours, driven by Bitcoin’s rise and notable activity in other altcoins,” Karkara noted.

It is worth noting that that the crypto market is presently extremely volatile. While BTC is on an upward surge, multiple altcoins are trading sideways. Market experts have advised investors to trade with caution and due diligence.

Redmi could be working on a new tablet targeted at gamers. The company has not yet made any announcements regarding such a tablet. However, a tipster has suggested that Redmi could launch a gaming tablet soon. The moniker of the purported gaming tablet or its specifications have not yet surfaced online. We can expect to learn more about the rumoured tablet in the coming days. Notably, Redmi launched the Pad Pro 5G and Redmi Pad SE 4G in India in July this year.

Redmi Gaming Tablet: All We Know

Redmi is reportedly working on a gaming tablet that is expected to be a compact offering with the ability to outperform larger tablets. Tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) suggested in a Weibo post that the tablet is confirmed to launch but did not reveal any other details.

Although he did not clarify which tablet he was talking about, a 91Mobiles report suggests it is a Redmi tablet. The report shows a screengrab of the tipster’s post (now edited) where he claimed that the tablet could carry a Snapdragon 8-series chipset, speculated to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. 

The report added that the tipster had recently claimed that Redmi is developing a compact, flagship tablet with an LCD screen. Since most of this information is based on assumptions, readers should take it with a pinch of salt.

Redmi Pad Pro 5G and Redmi Pad SE 4G Price in India

The company launched the Redmi Pad Pro 5G and Redmi Pad SE 4G in India in July. The SE version starts at Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB + 64GB option. Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi only Redmi Pad Pro 5G is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB + 128GB, while the Wi-Fi + cellular variant starts at Rs. 24,999 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration.

Redmi Pad Pro version carries a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD screen, while the SE variant comes with an 8.7-inch 90Hz LCD panel. They are powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and MediaTek Helio G85 chipsets, respectively.

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting an Ultimate Edition, which includes the latest version of the game, alongside the Phantom Liberty expansion. The complete version is set to launch December 5, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, with the last of them getting a full physical release. The Xbox package will come with three discs comprising all content, whereas the PS5 version will include a disc for the base version with the v2.0 overhaul and a voucher for the expansion to be downloaded from the PlayStation store. Meanwhile, the PC version serves a redeemable code on the GOG platform — no discs at all — CD Projekt Red’s own gaming client, which ensures it keeps the full cut from the purchase.

“The reason for the difference in how the Phantom Liberty is included in the Ultimate Edition is due to technical requirements specific to each platform,” a CD Projekt Red spokesperson told IGN about the odd packaging decision. This is, of course, disappointing for PlayStation owners, who’ve been vying for physical media preservation, as major publishers continue down a path of digital future. While CD Projekt Red has simply cited platform-specific ‘technical requirements’ as a hindrance, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman suspects that the developer presumably didn’t want to make a separate disc build for the PS5 release. What’s more odd is that Cyberpunk 2077 was never launched physically on new-gen consoles, so the publisher should’ve made an entirely separate build on three discs, in addition to pulling the new cover art. For what it’s worth, Cyberpunk 2077 has now beaten Baldur’s Gate 3 to the punch, which was also planned for release on three discs on the Xbox Series X.

Owners of the old-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles won’t be able to access the Ultimate Edition since the 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion are reserved for the current-gen. The complete Cyberpunk 2077 experience is expected to cost $60 (about Rs. 5,000), with the physical versions going up for sale across select retailers on December 5. PC players should be able to buy the Ultimate Edition digitally from GOG, whereas Steam users can purchase the bundle, which is currently available at Rs. 2,758 as part of the ongoing Autumn Sale. This also marks the end of Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch content, as the team transitions to Unreal Engine 5 for future development on projects such as the Cyberpunk sequel and a bunch of announced Witcher games.

Cyberpunk 2077 suffered a rocky launch in 2020, with PS4 players facing the worst experience due to extremely low framerates and crashes, causing Sony to interfere and delist it from the platform. After years of hotfixes and patches, the game saw a sudden resurgence last year when the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime dropped on Netflix, attracting millions of players back to experience Night City. The studio then launched a 2.0 update in September, which completely overhauled the perk system and limited tech augmentations, in anticipation of the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition releases December 5 across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion can also be purchased separately on the said platforms.

In an October 2024 milestone, scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory completed the integration of the Roman Coronagraph Instrument onto the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an upcoming observatory set for launch in May 2027. This highly advanced coronagraph, capable of detecting planets up to 100 million times dimmer than their host stars, has been crafted to block out starlight to make the faint light of exoplanets visible. The integration marks a key step toward developing technology that could one day help NASA locate Earth-like planets in other solar systems.

Coronagraph Instrumentation and Technology Demonstration

The Roman Coronagraph, approximately the size of a baby grand piano, comprises an intricate system of masks, prisms, and mirrors that work in concert to obstruct starlight. According to Rob Zellem, Deputy Project Scientist for Roman Telescope Communications, the instrument aims to demonstrate technologies critical for future space telescopes like the proposed Habitable Worlds Observatory, designed to find life-supporting exoplanets. The Instrument Carrier, which houses the coronagraph, was attached to the Roman Telescope at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. This section, often described as the “skeleton” of the observatory, will soon be integrated with Roman’s primary science instrument, the Wide Field Instrument, completing the telescope’s core.

Exoplanet Imaging: Beyond Traditional Transit Detection

Currently, most exoplanet discoveries rely on a method called transiting, which measures the dimming of a star when a planet crosses in front of it. However, this technique is limited by the rare alignment of planetary orbits with Earth’s line of sight. Direct imaging, particularly through coronagraphy, is an emerging method that allows scientists to observe planets without relying on transit events. While ground-based telescopes have had some success using coronagraphs, such as imaging planets orbiting the star HR 8799, the Roman Coronagraph’s advanced design promises to achieve unprecedented sensitivity in space.

Next Steps for NASA’s New Telescope

With the coronagraph now successfully integrated, NASA’s engineering team will perform a series of system checks before installing the Wide Field Instrument later this year. Liz Daly, Lead for Integrated Payload Assembly at Goddard, emphasized the collaborative efforts of various teams in bringing the Roman observatory closer to completion. The Roman Telescope’s ability to explore dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics will set a new standard in space observation.

Summer Game Fest, the tentpole video game showcase event helmed by industry veteran Geoff Keighley, streamed late Thursday night at the YouTube theatre in Los Angeles, raising the curtains on a massive lineup of upcoming titles. There were some that were expected at the event, and then there were some surprise reveals and appearances — Nicolas Cage dropped by to reveal that he’s coming to Dead by Daylight. While the show kicked off with a gameplay trailer for the new Prince of Persia action-adventure platformer, we got an early deep dive into Mortal Kombat 1. The detailed gameplay trailer, followed by a developer Q&A, focused on the new Kameo fighters mechanic, where players can summon support mid-combo with the press of a single button.

We also got a moody new trailer for the souls-like action game, Lies of P, showing off a bit more of its combat. Previously slated for an August 1 release, the game is now delayed to a September 19 launch. The good news, however, is that a playable demo for the game is now live across consoles and PC. Then, Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake showed up to talk more about Alan Wake II’s two playable characters, who inhabit the game’s two different worlds. A host of more titles across different platforms were announced at the event, including a big final reveal.

With that, here’s our picks for the biggest announcements, reveals and updates from the Summer Game Fest 2023:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

When: Early 2024

The biggest trailer at the Summer Game Fest 2023 was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, a day after creative director Tetsuya Nomura teased on Twitter that more details on the much-awaited title will be revealed soon. It was sooner than you’d think. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, sequel to the Final Fantasy VII Remake, got a detailed gameplay trailer at the event, showcasing fluid combat, exploration and — most importantly — story elements. “Sephiroth was in Midgar,” Cloud recalls at one point in the trailer. “We fought him. Whatever happened, he’s alive.”

We saw Cloud and his friends taking on enemies and exploring lands beyond Midgar. We also got to see a chilling encounter between Sephiroth and Tifa.

The game was originally revealed last year, as part of plans for a remake trilogy, and received a first look trailer at the time. Square Enix has been sharing more information on the upcoming title in the lead up to the big gameplay reveal. The second game in the remake trilogy is now confirmed for an early 2024 release on the PS5 and will arrive in a two-disc package for its physical release.

Spider-Man 2 release date

When: October 20
Where: PS5

After months of speculation, Insomniac Games finally dropped a release date for Spider-Man 2 — and it’s not in September, as the Venom voice actor had earlier hinted. PlayStation’s next big first party game arrives on October 20. Creative director Bryan Intihar also popped up on stage to stress on original story elements of the upcoming web-slinging game, claiming that, unlike the comic books, Eddie Brock is not Venom — a mystery twist for the fans. A box art was also revealed, featuring our protagonists Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who prepare to face the rage of Kraven the Hunter and many more threats that put New York City in danger. Pre-orders for Spider-Man 2 start June 16.

Alan Wake II

When: October 17
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X

On the heels of the teaser that we got at the PlayStation Showcase held last month, we finally saw a bit more of the raw gameplay from Alan Wake II.

Remedy’s latest game, a full-on survival horror adventure, lets us switch between its two playable characters — the titular writer Alan Wake and FBI agent Saga Anderson. In its latest gameplay, we see Saga exploring an eerie forest and encountering a masked enemy at an abandoned store. The gameplay showcased third-person shooting combat and atmospheric exploration. The game arrives October 17, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

Mortal Kombat 1

When: September 19
PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch

Ed Boon came out on stage to tease the beginning of a new timeline in the universe — one forged by the Fire God Liu Kang — via a raw gameplay trailer that featured all kinds of gory Fatalities, including someone’s heart getting ripped out! A new addition to Mortal Kombat 1 is the Kameo Fighters — essentially summonable characters who can be called in for assistance via a single button press, without tarnishing your combo. And there are no loading screens or lags when they drop in either — truly next-gen stuff!

Immortals of Aveum

When: July 20
Where: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X

What could best be described as EA’s Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum revealed one of its more ‘epic’ sequences of the game, where our battle-mage protagonist Jak confronts Sandrak, one of the key villains of the game. Even if you aren’t a fan of all the flashy spells, the segment does deliver on its high production, setting you atop a fully mobilised colossal mech, as you rip your way through endless hordes, swapping between magic on the fly. It’s quite Doctor Strange-like, in the sense that it projects a pentagram each time you switch between them. Be wary if you’re a PC gamer though, as the system requirements for this one are quite high!

Lies of P gets new release date and demo

When: September 19
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

At this point, we’re convinced that Lies of P might be the closest a PC gamer ever gets to Bloodborne. A new cryptic trailer from developer Round8 revealed some scenic shots of the gothic city of Krat, now ravaged by bloodthirsty puppets, as a mechanised Pinocchio roams the rotting streets. Keeping with its souls-like theme, expect lots of steampunk-ish boss battles that test your mettle, in addition to some environmental storytelling as you slash and deflect your way through the elegant backdrop of the Belle Epoque era. The game is getting slightly delayed into September 19 and currently has a playable demo available on all platforms.

Like a Dragon: Gaiden – The Man Who Erased His Name

When: November 9
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X

Kazuma Kiryu puts on his black suit once again, serving as a nameless Yakuza, after faking his death to protect his family in the absurdly long titled — Like a Dragon: Gaiden – The Man Who Erased His Name. Under the codename ‘Joryu,’ he is rebirthed and assigned a bodyguard job, only for things to spiral out of control when a mysterious figure attempts to drive him out of hiding. A description on the PS Deals website also mentions two ‘high-impact’ fighting styles — the Yakuza style is more aggression-based, whereas the Agent style relies on pure speed and precision, upping the ante with a variety of high-tech gadgets such as wires that ooze electricity.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

When: January 18, 2024
Where: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Amazon Luna

Ubisoft is making a new Prince of Persia game. Right out of the gates at the Summer Game Fest, the first reveal was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, a 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania with striking visuals, fast-paced combat and traversal, and impressive boss battles. The gameplay trailer informs us that Prince Ghassan has been kidnapped and the kingdom has been cursed. A group of mercenaries called the Immortals now must save the prince and, in the process, rescue the empire.

The trailer then dives headfirst into gameplay, putting us in the shoes of Sargon, a Persian warrior on the trail of the missing Prince. Reminiscent of the series classic Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the character dual wields two curved swords, showing off a variety of movesets in combat. There’s a clear focus on platforming, too, as we see Sargon hop and skip through deadly obstacles and traps. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown arrives January 18, 2024, with more details set to come during the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on June 12.

Vivo X200 series will launch in China with the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC, Vivo revealed on Wednesday after some initial speculations. The announcement comes shortly after the formal unveiling of the new MediaTek flagship mobile chipset. The Dimensity 9400 is built on a 3nm process and is claimed to be up to 40 percent more power-efficient than its predecessor. It comprises one Arm Cortex-X925 core running at 3.62GHz. Besides Vivo, Oppo has also revealed that its upcoming flagship phone will run on the Dimensity 9400 SoC.

Vivo X200 Series Chipset, Colourways Teased

The Chinese smartphone brand, via its official Weibo handle, confirmed the presence of MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset on the upcoming Vivo X200 series. The lineup comprising base Vivo X200, Vivo X200 Pro, and Vivo X200 Pro Mini will be unveiled in China on October 14 at 7:00pm (4:30pm IST).

The Vivo X200 and Vivo X200 Pro are teased to be available in four shades — Midnight Black, Moonlight White, Sapphire Blue, and Titanium. The Vivo X200 Pro Mini is shown in black, pink, green and white colour options in the official renders however official names of the finishes are not revealed yet.

Vivo X200 series is believed to be the first set of smartphones to draw power from the Dimensity 9400 chipset. The SoC is built based on TSMC’s 3nm process and comes with on-device AI features and a new ISP and NPU. It has a Cortex-X925 that runs at 3.63 GHz, and then three Cortex-X4 units with a 3.3 GHz maximum frequency. It includes four efficiency Cortex-A720 units at 2.4 GHz.

MediaTek claims that the new chipset will deliver 35 percent faster single-core performance and 28 percent faster multi-core performance compared to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300. It is said to be 40 percent more power-efficient than previous models and offers 80 percent faster large language model prompt performance.

Beyond the Vivo X200 series, the new high-end chip of MediaTek is set to appear in the Oppo Find X8 series and other flagship phones from Chinese OEMs.

The Vivo X200 is rumoured to start at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 48,000) for the 12GB + 256GB trim. Meanwhile, the Vivo X200 Pro Mini is said to come with a price tag of CNY 4,599 for the 12GB + 256GB model while the Vivo X200 Pro is tipped to cost CNY 5,199 for the 16GB + 256GB variant.
