Baidu Unveils Xiaodu AI Glasses With 16-Megapixel Ultra-Wide-Angle Camera

The Xiaodu AI Glasses weigh 45g. They are equipped with a 16-megapixel ultrawide camera and a four-microphone array. The native AI assistant uses the camera and the microphone to receive information in visual and audio modalities, according to the company.

According to Baidu, the AI assistant can answer queries in real time — a feature the company calls “walk-and-ask queries”. The glasses can also be used for calorie recognition, object identification, audio-visual translation, and intelligent reminders.

Coming to the battery, Baidu’s AI Glasses offer up to five hours of calling and playback time and 56 hours of standby time. They are said to take about 30 minutes to charge fully.

The Xiaodu AI Glasses run on the company’s DuerOS AI operating system, and the same OS will also offer support for other Baidu platforms such as Baidu Maps, and Baike. The end goal appears to be creating a device that can be further enhanced with the integration of the Baidu ecosystem.

Panaji, Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor on Sunday announced that a film festival showcasing restored movies of his grandfather, veteran filmmaker Raj Kapoor, will be held across the country to celebrate his birth centenary in December.

“We are going to organise the Raj Kapoor Film Festival from December 13-December 15 all over India. We will show the restored version of 10 films of Raj Kapoor’s films,” Ranbir said to a jam-packed auditorium at the Kala Academy here.

“I hope you guys come as well . I remember the first time I met Alia, she asked me ‘Who’s Kishore Kumar?’ It’s just a circle of life, people are forgotten. It’s important we remember our roots,” he added.

The actor, who has often talked about his dream to make a biopic on his late grandfather, said he has discussed the potential project with his “godfather” and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

“I talk to a lot of people, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, about how to make a biopic on Mr Raj Kapoor. A biopic is not just something which highlights the success in a person’s life, you truly have to portray someone’s life honestly, the lows, struggles, relationship dynamics.

“It’s a very tough biopic to make. I don’t know if my family would also agree for most of the things, to show this side of Raj Kapoor. But I think it would really make a great movie,” he added.

Ranbir is also excited to reunite with Bhansali in “Love & War”. The director gave him his first break as an actor in 2007’s “Saawariya”.

“I’m excited to work with Mr Bhansali again. Even after 17 years, it still feels the same. I respect him so much, he hasn’t changed at all. All he thinks about is his movies,” he added.

The actor revealed that the first Raj Kapoor song he made his two-year-old daughter Raha listen to was “Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisaar” from 1959’s “Anari”.

Most recently, supposed design renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition have surfaced on the Web. The renders show a triple rear camera unit on the phone. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition seems to have a flat frame with curved corners.

Tipster Evan Blass briefly shared alleged renders of a foldable smartphone on X. While the post doesn’t include the device’s name, it presumably could be of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. The first image gives us a glimpse of what the device’s rear could look like. It appears to have a triple rear camera setup with a raised camera island and individual camera rings.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel main camera. It is rumoured to pack an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch external display. It was previously tipped to be called Galaxy Z Fold Slim or Galaxy Z Fold Ultra.

While talking to Raj Shamani on his podcast, Lalit Modi revealed that when the season originated, anyone could bid for any city. Though today Kolkata Knight Riders has gained popularity and love worldwide, when Shah Rukh decided to own a team, he tried to acquire cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad before he finally settled on Kolkata.
Mr. Modi said that Shah Rukh Khan had a keen interest in bidding for teams in Ahmedabad or Mumbai. However, his bid was lower and thus, he settled with ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’. SRK’s first choice was Mumbai, but Mukesh Ambani’s bid won over his. Thereafter, he wanted Banglore but then Vijay Mallya secured it, and a similar thing happened with Delhi.
Lalit Modi also shared the figures from the first season. He said Shah Rukh’s bid was around 70-80 million for the cities he wanted, but the bids of around 100 million won the game. When he got KKR, the team was at 85-87 million.
Further, Lalit Modi stated SRK is very important to the IPL, as his charm brings more crowd, especially females. “For me, Shah Rukh was going to bring in women and children into the game. Women and children were extremely important for IPL to click in terms of viewership,” he said.

Microsoft is adding a button to the Windows keyboard to activate its AI Copilot service, with the first devices to sport the new key available this month.

The Copilot key, which will sit to the right of the space bar, is the first change to the Windows keyboard layout since Microsoft added the Windows/Start key in 1994, underscoring the company’s commitment to artificial intelligence. Microsoft’s hardware partners will show off Windows 11 computers with the Copilot button over the coming days at the CES technology conference and, over time, it will become a required feature.

That list now includes Windows, Office, Bing search, security software and customer and finance products. The work heavily leverages the GPT-4 technology from OpenAI, in which Microsoft has invested $13 billion (roughly Rs. 1,08,201 crore).

For device makers, Microsoft’s push into AI services has not yet translated into a boost for sales, as the novel Copilot features are being rolled out to new and existing devices alike. Mehdi’s promise of weaving AI into hardware and silicon may signal more pressure on consumers to upgrade as Microsoft evolves and improves its AI proposition.

iQOO 13 was launched in China last month with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The Vivo sub-brand recently confirmed that the smartphone will arrive in the Indian market in the first week of December. The specifications of the Indian variant of the iQOO 13 are believed to be identical to its Chinese counterpart, with one exception — the Indian variant will have a slightly smaller battery. The smartphone maker has confirmed that the iQOO 13 will be available in two colourways in India.

The updated landing page for the iQOO 13 on the company’s website reveals that the Indian version of the upcoming handset will pack a 6,000mAh battery. This is slightly smaller than the 6,150mAh battery unit found on the Chinese variant. The 120W fast charging speed, design and other specifications appear similar to the model launched in China.

The Indian variant of iQOO 13 is confirmed to arrive in Nardo Grey and Legend Edition colourways with Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and a dedicated Q2 gaming processor. It will sport a BOE Q10 8T LTPO 2.0 OLED display with 2K resolution and up to 144Hz refresh rate. The handset also has IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The iQOO 13 will be launched in India on December 3. It is already confirmed to be available for purchase via the official iQOO e-store and Amazon.

Price of iQOO 13 in China starts at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 47,200) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB option, and pricing can as high as CNY 5,199 (roughly Rs. 61,400) for the 16GB+1TB RAM and storage configuration.

The iQOO 13 sports a 6.82-inch 2K BOE Q10 8T LTPO 2.0 OLED display and carries up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 onboard storage. It has a triple rear camera unit, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. It has a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. The phone boasts an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Alphabet‘s Google, Amazon, Apple, Meta Platforms and Microsoft have notified the European Commission that they qualify as gatekeepers under new EU tech rules, EU industry chief Thierry Breton said on Tuesday.

Under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) which came into force last November, companies with more than 45 million monthly active users and a EUR 75 billion (roughly Rs. 670 crore) market capitalisation are considered gatekeepers providing a core platform service.

Samsung and TikTok owner ByteDance also said they meet the EU thresholds, Breton said.

“Europe is completely reorganising its digital space to both better protect EU citizens and enhance innovation for EU startups and companies,” Breton said in a statement.

The Commission will confirm the gatekeeper designation by September 6 after checking the data provided by the companies. They will then have six months to comply with the DMA rules.

Booking.com said it expects to meet the gatekeeper threshold by the end of the year and will then notify the EU executive.

Companies labelled as gatekeepers will be required to make their messaging apps interoperate with rivals and let users to decide which apps to pre-install on their devices.

They will not be allowed to favour their own services over rivals’ or prevent users from removing pre-installed software or apps, two rules that will hit Google and Apple hard.

Companies can be fined up to 10 percent of annual global turnover for DMA violations.
