After months of rumours, Samsung finally launched its Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. It has a bigger display, slimmer design, is lighter by a few milligrams, but it lacks S Pen support. For now, Samsung claims that it’s only for the South Korean market with no plans to take it global. With a second model of the same foldable now out in the same year, all eyes were on another long-rumoured affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 model, which Samsung now reportedly says it has no plans to release.

A report by SamMobile quotes a Samsung Electronics official who states that the brand has no plans to launch an affordable book-style foldable. The official reportedly said that the consumer should not consider the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition to be a premium product but perceive it as a “product released to expand your options”. Consumer perception aside, it is one and the same thing. The new model will obviously expand Samsung’s foldable lineup, at least for buyers in South Korea.

Samsung believes that users will now get more options to choose from. For example, those who do not need the S Pen functionality can now choose the bigger and slimmer Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (again in South Korea).

The same unnamed executive also reportedly stated that the company “as of now” has “no plans” to release another product at a lower price point. A recent report about the affordable foldable (last tagged as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE) pointed out that Samsung could delay the launch of this affordable model to the coming year. Therefore, at this point it appears to be clear that the affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 will not arrive this year, but there’s still a small possibility that it could be launched next year. However, this is not the first time Samsung has denied the existence of an affordable foldable.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which launched in South Korea, is priced at KRW 2,789,600 (roughly Rs. 1,70,000). The foldable will be available with 16GB RAM + 512GB stoarge and in a special Black Shadow colourway. The device has a 21:9 aspect ratio cover display that measures 6.5-inches across and an 8-inch main folding display both of which are bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 which is currently on sale globally including India.

The Special Edition is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and is 1.5mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It also has a 200-megapixel primary rear camera, which seems like a big upgrade over the existing 50-megapixel primary camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The thinner form factor comes at the cost of Samsung’s S Pen, which is not supported on the new foldable. Hopefully, we get to see some of these upgrades in the next version of the Galaxy Z Fold in the coming year.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 was launched in India on Friday, March 22. This model joins the Galaxy Book 4 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 360, and Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 that were introduced in the country in February this year. Unlike the previous models though, the new laptop is not powered by the Intel Core Ultra processors. However, the Galaxy Book 4 comes with its own set of AI-backed features that is said to help with several tasks like photo remastering or video editing. It is available for purchase in the country in two colour options and several CPU and RAM variants.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 price in India, availability

The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 is listed on the Samsung India website with a starting price of Rs. 70,990 for the Intel Core 5 CPU and 8GB RAM option, while the 16GB RAM variant with the same processor is available at Rs. 75,990. 

The Intel Core 7 variant of the Galaxy Book 4 is only offered with 16GB of RAM and is priced at Rs. 85,990. All variants are offered in Grey and Silver colours and are currently available for purchase on the Samsung India website, leading online stores, and select retail stores. 

Samsung announced in a press note that customers buying the Galaxy Book 4 can avail of bank cashback offers worth Rs. 5,000 or get an upgrade bonus of up to Rs. 4,000. Students making a purchase will also be eligible for an additional 10 percent discount. Buyers can also opt for a no-cost EMI option of up to 24 months.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 specifications, features

The Galaxy Book 4 sports a 15.6-inch full-HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) LED anti-glare screen. It comes with up to Intel Core 7 processor 150U CPU paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB of NVMe SSD storage, which is expandable to up to 1TB. It comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Home.

The laptop features an AI-backed Photo Remaster tool, which allows users to restore old images or even revive low-quality images. It can be used to alter elements in an image like removing unwanted light and shade. The device also has an inbuilt Galaxy Video Editor.

Users can connect their Galaxy smartphones to experience better webcam quality with the Samsung Galaxy Book 4. The feature uses the camera sensor on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone as the webcam, instead of the 720p inbuilt camera. This feature was first announced by the company in January this year.

The Galaxy Book 4 is backed by a 54Wh battery with support for 45W charging via USB Type-C port. The laptop also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. For security, it has a fingerprint reader. It also packs one HDMI, two USB Type-C, and two USB 3.2 ports alongside one microSD card reader, one audio jack and one RJ45 (LAN) slot.

The body of the Galaxy Book 4 weighs 1.55kg and measures 35.66cm x 22.91cm x 1.54cm in size.

Over the past 24 hours, Bitcoin’s value briefly surged to $93,469 (roughly Rs. 78.8 lakh). However, the onset of a price correction prevented it from maintaining that level. As of Friday, November 15, Bitcoin is trading at $87,617 (roughly Rs. 73.9 lakh) on global exchanges and $88,506 (around Rs. 74.4 lakh) on Indian platforms. The cryptocurrency has experienced a price decline of approximately 2.5 percent on both international and domestic markets.

Commenting on the market status, Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus said that recent comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell may have impacted BTC’s price movement alongside a price correction. “Powell said there is no urgency to reduce interest rates further. Post this, Bitcoin saw a modest dip,” Subburaj said.

Ether saw a bigger price decline than Bitcoin on Friday. Incurring a loss of over five percent on both national and international exchanges, ETH is presently trading around the price point of $3,042 (roughly Rs. 2.56 lakh).

As per the crypto price tracker by Gadgets360, several cryptocurrencies recorded losses than profits on Friday.

Tether, Solana, Binance Coin, Dogecoin, and USD Coin slipped down the price ladder.

Tron, Shiba Inu, Avalanche, Bitcoin Cash, Chainlink, and Polkadot also saw price dips on Friday.

The overall crypto market cap dipped by 2.48 percent over the last day, showed CoinMarketCap. At the time of writing, the valuation of the crypto market was at $2.91 trillion (roughly Rs. 2,45,75,066 crore).

Ripple, Cardano, Near Protocol, Stellar, and Monero clung to profits on the price chart.

Despite the ongoing market volatility, Bitcoin seems to be on an upward trajectory.

“Bitcoin has become the 7th largest asset surpassing Saudi Aramco,” Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO of Mudrex told Gadgets360 – predicting that Bitcoin’s support has moved up to $86,200 (roughly Rs. 72.7 lakh) whereas the next resistance point is at $90,900 (roughly Rs. 76.7 lakh).

Starfield is now available to those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition, and it’s being received fairly well — even more so on the performance front, which is unusual for developer Bethesda, whose titles have historically debuted with inconsistent framerates on consoles. As per Digital Foundry’s breakdown, the much-anticipated space sci-fi RPG runs at a solid 30fps on both the Xbox Series S and Series X, exactly as the studio advertised. At a glance, there doesn’t seem to be a concerning amount of disparity in visual fidelity between the two versions, though the higher-end Series X does appear to have more geometric detail.

Some of that sharper detailing must have to do with the screen resolution(s) Starfield’s running at on console. Digital Foundry notes that the version running on Xbox Series X outputs a 4K image, thanks to AMD’s FSR super-sampling technology that enhances visual quality while not dropping any frames. Internally though, the game is rendering at 1440p resolution, before getting upscaled to appear crisp Ultra-HD. Meanwhile, on the Xbox Series S, Starfield renders at 900p, before getting upsampled to produce a 1440p image. Regardless, the game runs at 30fps, which certainly drew the ire of fans when it was announced, though it must’ve been done to cope with the CPU load a game of this scale inflicts.

The report mentions two key areas where Starfield faltered — the large cities New Atlantis and Akila, both of which suffered from ‘significant’ stutters and frame drops, despite being capped to 30fps. This appeared consistent on both the Xbox Series X and Series S, albeit the low-cost console has generally been posing technical limitations for developers in recent times. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox port comes to mind, which for the longest time, never got a release window because Larian Studios was struggling to incorporate a split-screen co-op feature on the Series S. Some of those framerate-drop issues in Starfield are reduced by the motion blur effect, which Digital Foundry claims can be turned off at will. This is ideal for those suffering from motion sickness.

Having personally played the laggy Fallout 4 at launch, followed by taking Fallout 76 for a spin, I too got roped into accepting the inside joke amongst Bethesda fans — waiting for a couple of months before purchasing, so any performance issues and bugs are ironed out. However, it doesn’t seem as bad, this time around. As for the PC version, Starfield lacks Nvidia’s DLSS option at launch, which generally helps games to run at higher framerates, while not sacrificing too much visual quality. Instead, you’ll only find AMD’s AI-powered FSR 2.0 upscaling tech, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering the chipset company is the ‘exclusive partner‘ for Starfield on PC.

It’s unclear what this exclusivity deal means for Nvidia GPU owners. Sure, you can still get some performance benefits by enabling FSR2, though it won’t be nearly as ideal when you’re running it on a card from a different manufacturer. Also, running FSR upscaling on an Nvidia card results in a fuzzy mess when looking at character models up close. While Bethesda hasn’t commented on support for DLSS in the future, AMD gaming chief Frank Azor assured that there’s nothing stopping the studio from including DLSS support in Starfield. “If they ask us for DLSS support, we always tell them yes,” he told The Verge.

Starfield is already out in early access for those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition; for everyone else, the game releases worldwide September 6 across PC, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox Game Pass.

Redmi is reportedly working on two new smartphones. They are speculated to be the Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro. A tipster has shared some key expected features of the purported handsets including chipset and battery details. The rumoured Redmi Turbo 4 is expected to succeed the Redmi Turbo 3, which was unveiled in China in April. Notably, the Poco F6 5G was launched in India as a rebranded Redmi Turbo 3. Therefore, we might see the Redmi Turbo 4 debut as the Poco F7 in the country.

Redmi Turbo 4, Turbo 4 Pro Features

The Redmi Turbo 4 and the Turbo 4 Pro may launch with 1.5K flat displays, according to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese). He added that the Pro version could be powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, while the vanilla variant may carry a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 SoC. 

The tipster claims that both the Redmi Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro handsets are expected to be backed by 6,000mAh batteries. The rear camera layout is said to resemble the ones found on older Redmi models.

Redmi Turbo 3 Specifications, Price

The Redmi Turbo 3 comes with a 6.7-inch 1.5K OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage.

In the camera department, the Redmi Turbo 3 features a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main sensor alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. The front camera holds a 20-megapixel sensor. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging support.

Pricing for the Redmi Turbo 3 starts at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 23,000) for the 12GB + 256GB option, while the 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 26,450), CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 28,000) and CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 32,000), respectively.

Microsoft has a stricter definition of what constitutes an artificial intelligence (AI) PC compared to Intel, as per a report. For the Windows maker, an AI PC requires a powerful processor such as the Intel Core Ultra for enabling AI capabilities, software-based Copilot capabilities, and a dedicated Copilot key in the keyboard, as revealed by an Intel executive. The last requirement is considered a strange one, as this disqualifies PCs that come with a dedicated AI processor, GPU, and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), but not the Copilot key from the AI PC category.

Todd Lewellen, Head of the PC ecosystem at Intel spoke with The Verge in a press briefing and elaborated upon the matter. He said, “Our joint aligned definition, Intel and Microsoft, we’ve aligned on Core Ultra, Copilot, and Copilot key. From an Intel perspective, our AI PC has Core Ultra and it has an integrated NPU because it is unlocking all kinds of new capabilities and functions in the AI space. We have great alignment with Microsoft, but there are going to be some systems out there that may not have the physical key on it but it does have our integrated NPU.”

The difference in opinion between Microsoft and OEM manufacturers can give rise to a tricky situation as the Windows maker is one of the biggest players in the AI space, and with a hold on the operating system, it can be one of the definitive voices of which PCs may or may not get the on-device AI features it develops.

An easy solution is for OEMs to simply include the Copilot key, like most Windows-powered PCs already have a dedicated Windows key. However, this would exclude some in-between devices that have already launched with required hardware capabilities but no Copilot key.

For instance, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 which is available in the market and features Intel’s Core Ultra processor and its AI Boost NPU would not be considered an AI PC in Microsoft’s eyes. But, based on a newsroom post by Intel which says an AI PC “has a CPU, a GPU and an NPU, each with specific AI acceleration capabilities”, as well as Lewellen’s words, it fulfils all requirements of an AI PC. What becomes of such PCs is not known. Notably, Microsoft unveiled its Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 for businesses recently, and as the tech giant labels it the company’s first AI PCs, they feature Intel Core Ultra as well as a dedicated Copilot key.

The South Korean tech major is yet to reveal an official launch date, but new leaks suggest that the launch will happen in January next year. The Galaxy Unpacked event for the Galaxy S25 series is said to take place in the US. The upcoming lineup is said to include the regular Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra models alongside a new Galaxy S25 Slim model.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Launch Date

As per a report by The Financial News (Korean), Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy S25 series will be launched on January 23, 2025. The Galaxy Unpacked event for the lineup will be reportedly held in San Francisco, US. Besides the regular Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra models Samsung may also introduce the long-rumored Galaxy S25 Slim at the event. Previous rumours indicated a later launch date for the Slim model.

Additionally, tipster MaxJambor, in a skeptic X post, corroborated this launch timeline. He claimed that Samsung could hold the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22 next year. The one-day discrepancy in dates could be due to time zone differences.

During its Q3 earnings call, Samsung Electronics disclosed that the Galaxy S25 series will be unveiled in the first half of the next year. However, the company hasn’t revealed an exact launch timeline.

Reports surfaced earlier this week hinting at an early January 5 launch date for the phones. This year’s Galaxy S24 series was launched on January 17 in San Jose, California. The Galaxy S23 series was introduced last year on February 1.

All phones in the Galaxy S25 lineup are speculated to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. They are likely to come with new Galaxy AI features. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra could be available in seven colourways and the Galaxy S25+ in eight colour options. They are said to be available in three online exclusive shades as well.
