Xbox Exclusives Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves Coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch


Microsoft first-party games Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves will soon be available on Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation platforms. Xbox confirmed on Wednesday that much like other popular multi-platform games like Minecraft, Call of Duty, Overwatch and Diablo, players will soon be able to access these exclusive games on their Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. This move underscores a larger trend in the gaming industry towards greater accessibility and cross-platform interoperability. By adopting this strategy, the company hopes to encourage greater inclusivity and reach a wider range of gamers.

In a Xbox Wire release, the company confirmed that Pentiment from Obsidian Entertainment will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 22. Another game by the same developer, Grounded, will also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch from April 16.

Developed by Tango Gameworks, Hi-Fi Rush, a rhythm-based action-adventure game has not been confirmed for a Nintendo Switch release yet, the same as Rare’s Sea of Thieves. But these games are coming to PlayStation platforms. With pre-purchase available on PlayStation 5 digital storefronts from February 22, Hi-Fi Rush will come to the platform on March 19, while Sea of Thieves opens on the platform on April 30.

Meanwhile, Grounded and Sea of Thieves will come with cross-play support for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, the release confirmed. The company added that later this year titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Avowed, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and more will come to Xbox Series X and S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer announced last week that four Xbox exclusives will be available on PS5 and Nintendo Switch platforms. The company had also confirmed that Activision-Blizzard titles will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass, starting with Diablo IV on March 28.

Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 is now available for Phone 2 users, the company announced on Tuesday. It enables them to experience the new operating system (OS) update and try out new features like updated widgets, more customisation options, and camera enhancements ahead of the public release in December. The beta program was first launched last month starting with the Phone 2a and will be available for other devices such as the CMF Phone 1 later this year.

Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 Features

Nothing says OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 offers an exclusive preview of the Android 15-based OS. It carries the same features which the company introduced with the beta update for the Nothing Phone 2a in October. This includes the ability to display the widgets of friends and family on the home screen of the device. Users can link up and interact with others through reactions.

The latest update also brings more customisation options for home and lock screens which allow for more direct editing. Users can simply long-press the screen to get into the edit mode and tweak it by adding new clock faces, typefaces, and design layouts. With the expanded widget space, more widgets can be placed on the lock screen. The Quick Settings have been reworked with updated visuals, a more optimised editing experience and enhanced library design.

Nothing OS 3.0 includes a feature called Smart Drawer which is powered by artificial intelligence (AI). As per the company, it can automatically arrange apps in separate category folders based on usage. It also improves convenience by introducing pinning of the most-used apps at the top of the app drawer.

Tweaks have been made to the camera experience as well. The list of changes includes reduced HDR processing time, improved low-light performance, better zoom slider display, and faster launch speed with the camera widget.

Other features of the Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 update include auto-archiving functionality for freeing up storage space, new dot matrix-themed fingerprint animation, partial screen recording, updated setup wizard, and new charging animation.

Pitt’s parents, William and Jane Pitt, have been among the many negatively impacted by the legal battle between the actors. The grandparents now fear they may “never be able” to spend quality time with their grandchildren again. An insider told the Daily Mail, “Brad Pitt’s parents have not been able to see their beloved grandchildren for around eight years amid the ongoing divorce and legal battle between Brad and Angelina.”

The loving grandparents had played an active role in the children’s lives before Pitt and Jolie’s marriage collapsed. The two were frequently spotted spending time together. The source continued, “Prior to the separation, they were a part of the kids’ lives and they all spent a lot of time together. It is just heartbreaking to see that this is no longer the case. Recently Jolie’s estranged father, Jon Voigt also shared that he “doesn’t talk to his grandchildren as much as [he would] like” and asked the former couple to call peace so their children can have some stability.

HP unveiled its first Copilot+ AI PCs, the HP EliteBook Ultra and HP OmniBook X, in India on Thursday. Powered by the Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite platform, HP’s new AI laptops take advantage of the dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) of the chipset, rated at 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) and capable of running demanding generative AI tools and services locally on the device. Aimed at both businesses and retail customers, the HP EliteBook Ultra and HP OmniBook X laptops come with built-in HP AI Companion, dedicated Copilot key and AI features and touchscreen displays. The laptops sport a thin and light design and promise up to 26 hours of battery life.

Pricing for the HP Elitebook Ultra starts at Rs. 1,69,934. The laptop is available in a single Atmospheric Blue colourway. The HP OmniBook X, on the other hand, has a starting price of Rs. 1,39,999 and will sell in a Meteor Silver colour.

Both Copilot+ PCs are available in HP World retail stores and the HP online store.

The HP EliteBook Ultra runs Windows 11 Pro and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest 12-core Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 chipset that can clock up to 3.4 GHz, paired with Qualcomm Adreno graphics, 16 GB of LPDDR5x-8400MHz RAM and 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe TLC M.2 SSD storage. The X Elite processor’s dedicated 45 TOPS NPU allows users to perform generative AI-intensive tasks on-device.

The Copilot+ PC sport a 14-inch 2.2K (2,240×1,400 pixels) touch display with 300nits of peak brightness. Connectivity options on the laptop include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB Type-C ports, a USB Type-A port and a headphone/microphone combo jack.

The HP EliteBook Ultra comes with dual stereo speakers, integrated dual array microphones, full-size backlit keyboard and a 5-megapixel IR camera.

The HP OmniBook X is powered by the same Snapdragon processor, paired with Qualcomm Adreno graphics, 16 GB of LPDDR5x-8448 MHz RAM and 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD storage.

The laptop gets the same 14-inch 2.2K display, with multi-touch capabilities, Corning Gorilla Glass protection and 300 nits of brightness. Connectivity options on the HP OmniBook X include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, with a port selection that features two USB Type-C ports (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort), a 1 USB Type-A port and a headphone/microphone combo jack. The laptop sports dual speakers and a 5-megapixel IR camera.

The HP OmniBook X comes with a 59Whr battery, claimed to offer up to 26 hours of battery life. The laptop measures 31.29 x 22.35 x 1.43 cm in size from the front side and weighs 1.34 kg.

Michael Bosilovich, a meteorologist at NASA Goddard, explained that warming intensifies evaporation and increases the atmosphere’s capacity to retain moisture, leading to extreme rainfall events. While total annual precipitation remains steady, prolonged dry spells between these events reduce soil absorption, worsening drought conditions.

Satellite data showed that global freshwater did not recover after a significant El Niño event between 2014 and 2016, which had caused shifts in atmospheric patterns and widespread droughts. Rodell noted that 13 of the 30 most severe droughts since 2002 occurred after 2015. Although the link to climate change is not definitive, the concurrent timing with record-high global temperatures has raised concerns about the future stability of freshwater resources.

Hydrologist Susanna Werth from Virginia Tech, unaffiliated with the study, emphasised the challenges in predicting long-term outcomes due to uncertainties in climate models. However, the current trends are being closely monitored for further implications.

Microsoft will make French startup Mistral AI’s artificial intelligence models available through its Azure cloud computing platform under a new partnership, the companies said on Monday.

The multi-year deal signals Microsoft’s efforts to offer a variety of AI models beyond its biggest bet in OpenAI as the tech giant seeks to attract more customers for its Azure cloud services.

Microsoft will take a minority stake in Mistral as part of the deal, the startup told Reuters without disclosing details.

Microsoft confirmed its investment in Mistral, but said it holds no equity in the company. The tech giant is under regulatory scrutiny in Europe and the US for its outsized funding in OpenAI.

The Paris-based startup works on open source and proprietary large language models (LLM), similar to the one OpenAI pioneered with ChatGPT, that understands and generates text in a human-like fashion.

Its latest proprietary model, Mistral Large, will be first available to Azure customers under the partnership. Mistral’s technology will be hosted on Microsoft’s cloud computing platform.

Mistral has also been working with Amazon and Google to distribute its models. It plans to make Mistral Large available on other cloud platforms in the next few months, a spokesperson said.

Mistral was founded by Timothée Lacroix and Guillaume Lample, who previously worked on Meta’s artificial intelligence teams; and Arthur Mensch, a former researcher at Google’s DeepMind.

“Comedian”, by Maurizio Cattelan, was snapped up on Wednesday at auction at Sotheby’s in New York by Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun. It first rocked the art world in 2019 on its debut at Miami’s Art Basel.

“It’s a provocation that invites us to reflect on the value of art and the dynamics of market, pushing us to question what this work says about us as viewers,” Cattelan told Italian daily La Repubblica.

The piece of art, whose first version was made with a banana that cost 25 cents, on Wednesday went from a starting price of $800,000 to $5.2 million, plus a buyer’s fee.

“It’s the market that has decided to take a banana stuck on the wall so seriously. If the system is so frail to slip on a banana skin, maybe it was already slippery,” Cattelan added.

The artist, 64, is known for his hyper-realistic installations and sculptures, which include a fake horse dangling from a ceiling, the late pope John Paul II being hit by a meteorite and a marble hand with a raised middle finger outside Milan’s Stock Exchange.

Cattelan also said he was fast asleep when his banana piece went under the hammer, dreaming that his favourite soccer team Atalanta would beat AC Milan at an upcoming Serie A home game.

“‘Comedian’ is a laugh against a tired system, an invitation to rediscover the power of irony and simplicity,” the artist said.

In the camera department, the Oppo A5 Pro is expected to get a dual rear camera, including a 50-megapixel main sensor alongside a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The front camera will likely use a 16-megapixel sensor.

The listing suggests that the Oppo A5 Pro may get a 5,840mAh-rated battery, which could be marketed as a 6,000mAh typical. It is listed to support Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
