In the IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) emerged victorious by three wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
During the match, LSG`s skipper Rishabh Pant managed to score just 10 runs in nine balls, including a boundary.
Following the poor batting display, former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that the time when Pant came to bat in the match was not difficult.
“The team needed him to stay till the end. He is an experienced player, having been in the IPL since 2016. The situation when he came out to bat was not particularly difficult. LSG had already scored 41 in the first five overs. One batter needed to take responsibility and bat through the chase. That role was meant for Pant,” he said on Star Sports.
Further speaking, the former cricketer said that the left-handed batsman needs to learn the match situation and play accordingly.
“As captain, if you don`t take responsibility, you cannot help your team win games. Yes, he did well against SRH, but he needs to find consistency. Playing one good knock and then failing in the next few games is not enough. He has to read the match situation better and learn when to shift gears. A captain`s job is to stay till the end in a chase, and that is something Pant must work on,” said Kaif.

MUMBAI: Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran on Friday asked Air India employees to focus on cost control, improve services and “stay grounded” in the reality of the challenging situation, while reiterating the group’s continued commitment to the airline. Addressing an employee town hall at the Air India Group’s headquarters in Gurugram, Chandrasekaran said, “While our future is bright and we have laid a solid foundation for our ambition, we are going through a challenging time, the impact of which is most visible in the airline industry.” Chandrasekaran reaffirmed that the Air India board remains “committed” to the carrier and will continue to work closely with its management team. What matters now is staying focused on execution, he said, adding that “our focus should be on what is within our control, where we can improve, be precise on costs and remain grounded in the reality of the situation”. The town hall meeting came in the backdrop of Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson quitting the airline, much ahead of the completion of his service contract with the Tata Group airline.
