NEW DELHI: India ended the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 on a high, finishing second overall but with the highest number of total medals. Leading the charge was young boxer Vishvanath Suresh, who won gold in the men’s 50kg category after defeating Japan’s Daichi Iwai with a clear 5:0 verdict in the final. His performance stood out throughout the tournament, especially as he defeated a world number one on the way, showing confidence and maturity beyond his experience.
Another strong contribution came from Sachin, who secured a silver medal after a tough fight, adding to India’s medal tally and highlighting the men’s team’s solid effort.In total, India won 16 medals, just one gold short of table-toppers Kazakhstan, marking a highly successful campaign.
India’s women’s boxing team played a major role in this success, finishing at the top of the medal standings with 10 medals. Gold medal winners included Minakshi, Preeti, Priya, and Arundhati, all of whom dominated their categories. Silver medals from Jaismine and Alfiyan Pathan, along with four bronze medals, showed the team’s consistency across divisions.

Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde are set to share screen space in their upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The movie is set to arrive in cinemas in June this year; however, as per the latest development, the makers will be shifting the release date to May 2026. The revised date will be announced soon.
According to the Bollywood Hungama report, the movie is near its completion, and hence its arrival in May would work in favor of the makers. The report stated, “The makers are seriously considering bringing the film out on May 22 instead of June 12. They realized they could prepone the release by three weeks as the film is almost ready.”It further added, “Moreover, there’s limited competition in the second half of May, and the summer holidays will be on. It’ll be an ideal time to attract youth and family audiences to the film.”As per the report, the makers are yet to take the final call. Once that is done, they will be officially announcing the new release date of the movie.
The film was set to arrive in theaters on June 5, 2026; however, the makers postponed it to June 12 to avoid a clash with Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’. The Varun Dhawan starrer would have locked horns against Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aunga’ as well, as the film is slated to arrive in theaters on June 12, 2026.On the other hand, if the movie releases on May 22, it will clash with Lakshya and Ananya Panday’s ‘Chand Mera Dil’ and Riteish Deshmukh’s ambitious project, ‘Raja Shivaji’, at the box office.
The film has been helmed by David Dhawan. This will mark Varun’s third collaboration with his father after ‘Main Tera Hero’ and ‘Judwaa 2’. Reportedly, the movie also features Manish Paul, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Shergill, Chunky Pandey, and Rakesh Bedi in the key roles.
NEW DELHI: After months of haggling, the auto industry seems to have been comforted by the latest draft of the Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE 3) norms, which encourage the use of new technologies and target major improvements, starting April 2027. CAFE are govt-mandated norms to reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide across a carmaker’s portfolio of vehicles.
Under CAFE 3, to achieve the targets, carmakers will be given higher credits for vehicles with greater fuel efficiency, apart from “super credits” for producing EVs, hybrids or flex fuels (petrol or ethanol) vehicles. Further, use of 12-specified energy efficient technologies – such as start-stop system, six-speed or higher transmission, tyre pressure monitoring system or high-efficiency AC systems – can earn discounts for the car manufacturer, the draft circulated on Wednesday said. Carmakers can purchase credits from other carmakers “for compliance on their mutually agreed terms and conditions”. Unlike the earlier two versions of CAFE, which allowed companies to target efficiency over a five-year period, the third edition has proposed a block period of three years, followed by a two-year phase. Auto companies can miss annual targets but must meet it at the aggregate level, with records to be maintained in a passbook. Based on the draft, the efficiency score is targeted to be reduced from 113.5 at the end of 2026-27, the terminal year of CAFE 2, to 94.8 in 2027-28, when CAFE 3 kicks in and to 78.9 in the terminal year (2031-32). The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which circulated the latest draft, has assumed that by 2031-32, CNG vehicles will be the biggest chunk of the vehicle mix, with a share of 35% by 2031-32, compared with 24% estimated in the current financial year. The share of petrol is projected to fall from 50% to 30.7% during this period. Similarly, share of electric vehicles is expected to rise from 4.5% to 11%, with strong hybrids accounting for 12% of the vehicles by 2031-32, according to a presentation made to the cabinet secretary on Wednesday. The revised draft has proposed relaxations for small cars compared to the earlier plan, but tightened the credits offered for hybrids and flex fuel vehicles. This is widely seen as a balancing act by govt. Besides, it seeks to lower penalties for violations. Automakers said the revised framework strikes a balance between India’s decarbonisation goals and industry’s transition challenges, while offering greater flexibility through credit trading, carry-forward provisions and a softer penalty mechanism. “The framework supports govt’s green goals, while ensuring a practical transition path for manufacturers,” an industry executive said.

Ahead of the game, former burly all-rounder Andre Russell, who has joined the Kolkata-based franchise as “power coach”, explained about his role.
Speaking about his role, he said that it is about helping players come in the right position to outfox the deliveries bowled by the bowler.
“No team has ever had a power coach. My job is to show how important boundaries are in T20s, especially sixes. My role is basically to get players into the right position for whatever delivery a bowler is going to try and outfox them with,” he said.
“The job is not to change a player or coach him on how to swing his bat or make contact, but actually to be clear and add more power-hitting skills to his game. So it’s going fantastic so far,” added Russell.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. The film is set to release on May 1 and features Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.
It is a sequel to the 2006 film with the same title, which went on to earn over USD 300 million at the global box office.
The second film will follow Streep`s character, Priestly, navigating the decline of traditional print media, forced to face off against her former assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who is now a high-powered luxury group executive controlling vital advertising funds.
NEW DELHI: Mukul Choudhary announced his arrival on the IPL stage with a magnificent innings, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in front of a jam-packed Eden Gardens crowd. The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter’s unbeaten 54 off 27 balls, studded with seven sixes and two fours against KKR, powered Lucknow Super Giants to a thrilling three-wicket win on Thursday. The knock not only gave LSG their second win of the season but also propelled him into the spotlight.LSG head coach Justin Langer hailed Mukul, calling him a ‘great athlete’ with a ‘sharp brain’, and even compared his running between the wickets to that of Virat Kohli.“We have had some practice games, and the way he talks about the game is like he has been playing 300 matches. So, he has got some power, he is a great athlete, and he has got a sharp brain. He has a very curious mind and wants to get better. He went away and worked on the short ball. We have been doing drills with him every day, and then it came out in practice and in the game,” said Langer on JioHotstar.
He also revealed how their team analyst Shrinivas Chandrashekaran was crucial in getting Choudhary on board.“We saw him at a training camp a few months ago. There is so much talent in this country. A real big shout-out goes to Shrinivas, our data analyst, who said, ‘Coach, we have got to get this kid.’”Asked about his thought process when LSG needed 54 runs off the final 24 balls, Langer said, “I was probably thinking about what I was going to say to our players. Recently, comedian Samay Raina took a swipe at actor Mukesh Khanna during his latest Still Alive show. The Shaktiman star, however, is in no mood to let it slide and has hit back strongly, saying Samay is only fit to sit on a donkey and even branding him a “dog’s tail.”
On Wednesday, Mukesh took to social media to slam Samay. He shared an edited picture in which Samay can be seen sitting on a donkey. The text on the photo read, “Samay Raina tu sirf gadhe par baithne ke layak hai voh bhi muhh kala karke (Samay Raina, you’re only fit to sit on a donkey – and that too with your face blackened).”
The actor went on to take a dig at Samay in his caption, saying he has faced backlash from the whole country, and called him shameless.
In the caption of his post, Mukesh penned down a fiery note that read, “Kutte ki dum tedhi rehti hai. Use lakh sheeshiyon mein rakho. Bahar nikaalo. Phir tedhi ki tedhi!! Samay Raina ki bhi ek dum hai. Kitna bhi maaro, seedha karo, woh wapas tedhi ho jaati hai. Kyonki woh seedha saada praani nahin hai. Woh roasted praani hai. Gandagi ki aag mein jalaya hua, pakaya hua.”
He further added, “Poore desh ne lataada, maara. Phir aa gaya besharmon ki tarah. Aur maar khaane. Ab ek hi cheez baaki hai. Uska munh kaala kar gadhe par bitha kar desh bhar ke shehron mein, galiyon mein uski parade karni chahiye. Jahan bachche usko ande, tamatar maarein. Kyonki usne unke superhero Shaktimaan ka apmaan kiya hai!!!”
It translates to, “A dog’s tail stays crooked. No matter if you keep it in a million sheaths. Take it out. It’ll still be crooked as ever!! Samay Raina is such a tail. No matter how much you beat it. Straighten it. It’ll turn crooked again. Because he is not a simple, straightforward creature. He is a roasted creature. Burned in the fire of filth. Cooked through. The whole country has scolded him, beaten him. Yet he has came back shamelessly. Now only one thing remains… Blacken his face, make him seat on a donkey, and parade it through the cities of the country, pelted with curses. Where children hurl eggs, tomatoes at him. Mukesh’s remark comes just a day after Samay broke his silence on India’s Got Latent controversy during his Still Alive show, where he mentioned that several “irrelevant people” attempted to grab the spotlight amid the uproar. Samay also recalled how Mukesh Khanna, best known for playing Shaktiman, had publicly criticised both him and Ranveer Allahbadia.
“Shaktiman aa gaya tha yaar. Shaktiman se kaise ladenge (Shaktiman also came in. How can one fight Shaktiman?” he said.
Samay went on to claim that during the time Shaktiman was on air, several children reportedly attempted to imitate the on-screen superhero by jumping off buildings. “Tune bacche maare hai, tu kya moral high ground lekar baitha hai (Children died because of, and yet you’re sitting there claiming the moral high ground)?” he said.
The controversy began in 2025 when clips from the show circulated online and were criticised by some viewers as insensitive or crossing comedic boundaries. A joke by guest Ranveer Allahbadia sparked outrage, led to FIRs, and ultimately led to the show being taken off air.
