The BBC’s Science Editor Rebecca Morelle has spoken to the four Artemis II astronauts as they journey back home from their dramatic lunar fly-by that saw them travel further from Earth than any other humans.
On what is expected to be their final call from the capsule before splashdown on Saturday, mission specialist Christina Koch said she will mainly miss the “camaraderie”, describing the relationship forged between crew members as “brothers and sisters”.

In 25 minutes at the crease, Sooryavanshi had again confirmed what his supporters insist — he’s ready for the next level.
Sooryavanshi may have chosen not to give his Class X board exams, but from a cricketing point of view, he’s like a student who keeps getting double promotions and yet finds the question paper too easy. At every level, from domestic age-group to Ranji Trophy, to India U-19 to the IPL, baby-faced Sooryavanshi has taken on grown men and come out on top.
When a player of Sooryavanshi’s talent breaks through, the temptation to fast-track is balanced by cautionary voices. Too many players before him have been thrust into the big league too early and faded away as quickly as they rose. But, equally, a generational talent — and he has had the support of some great coaches — must be challenged. There’s no point sending him back to domestic T20 cricket to beat up bowlers.
Comparisons to the one prodigy to exceed all expectations, Sachin Tendulkar, are dangerous, but unavoidable. While there will never be another Sachin, Sooryavanshi’s takedown of Bumrah reminded some of the takedown of Abdul Qadir, the great leggie, by a 16-year-old in 1989.

Each day in the quiet of the moment, the wonder of the World, the wonder of the why what and where but never secure in the responses it keeps manufacturing. So many have spent their life in finding out the why .. the how .. but even they converge on some words that seem to analyse the thought, but never is able to give a finite definitive response.”
He continued, “True, for if the response was without question, it would not be a response… it would be the finality of the thought that has provoked you… in short, there is just one and only one finality. You came empty handed… and shall leave similar. You search for the truest form, but never does the search end in a find… the find is elusive, as it was designed to be – there shall not be a definite answer to a question, each express has multiple tributaries and not all of them converge to the final, and so, I continue to think.”
In February, Amitabh revealed that he was shooting for the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad and shared a few behind-the-scenes pictures from the set. The actor shared pictures of his transformation into Ashwatthama and also posted a photograph of himself hugging Kamal Haasan on set. He expressed his joy at working with Kamal again.

The first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama from the much-awaited Ramayana was unveiled on 2 April in a video teaser that has since amassed millions of views. While some loved Ranbir’s regal appearance, others were less impressed and called him miscast. Now, Ramanand Sagar’s son, Moti Sagar, has also reacted to the teaser, saying the film should not be compared to the iconic television series Ramayan.
Speaking about the teaser, Moti Sagar praised Ranbir Kapoor and told PTI, “He is such a class actor and brings so much depth to his roles. But you cannot judge anything from just the teaser. The actor has got so much depth in his performance. He must have gone very deep into this character. So, I would like to see the whole film and then comment. I’m expecting something very good from this film.”
He also addressed comparisons between the upcoming film and Ramanand Sagar’s 1987 television classic Ramayan. He said, “People often overlook that our Ramayan spanned 78 episodes of 30–40 minutes each, while the film will run for just three to four hours. So, there will be a lot of differences, as we could go into a lot of detail in a show.”
The television series, based on Valmiki’s Ramayana and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas, aired between 1987 and 1988. The show went on to become one of the most-watched television series in the world. Ramayan was also among the most expensive TV shows produced at the time. Starring Arun Govil as Lord Rama, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, and Arvind Trivedi as Ravana, the series was a massive success and remains a cultural landmark.
Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra through his company Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Mounted on a reported budget of ₹4,000 crore, it is also the most expensive Indian film ever made.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.
A glimpse of Ramayana was first screened in the US and then unveiled in India, offering audiences a first look at the ambitious project. While the teaser received some criticism for its VFX, many were impressed by its scale and visuals. The film is scheduled to release in two parts, with the first instalment arriving on Diwali 2026 and the second on Diwali 2027.
Days before the annual Create keynote, worksuite and artificial intelligence (AI) platform Canva has detailed two more acquisitions which should add more capabilities for enterprise workflows. The company confirms the acquisitions of agentic workplace Simtheory, as well as data and marketing automation company Ortto. Both Australian tech companies will add to Canva’s arsenal of tools, and marks another chapter in a sharpened focus on enterprise workflows.
“We’re excited to welcome Simtheory and Ortto to Canva. They’ve built exceptional teams and technology, and this acquisition marks an important step toward evolving Canva from a design tool into the system where work happens end-to-end, whether it’s a quick idea or a full campaign,” said Cliff Obrecht, co-founder and chief operations officer at Canva.
The financial terms of either deal haven’t been made public yet, but the addition of new capabilities based on the expertise inherited via both tech companies, will be made available to Canva’s 265 million monthly active users in the coming weeks. Some significant feature announcements are expected at the company’s Create keynote, next week.
The Simtheory and Ortto acquisitions follow MangoAI and Cavalry, which arrived within Canva’s fold earlier in the year. This strengthens Canva’s AI stack, as it competes with Adobe’s popular Creative Cloud suite and apps, as well as Apple’s Creator Studio. Late last year, Canva had detailed the direction of a strengthened AI stack, with the Creative OS.
Obrecht explains what the acquisitions mean for Canva. “Simtheory accelerates our evolution from a design platform with AI tools to an AI platform with design and productivity tools at its core. Ortto strengthens our ability to power the entire marketing and content life-cycle through Canva Grow, from planning and creating to publishing and optimising across every channel,” he says.
Both companies were founded by Chris and Mike Sharkey, who will now join Canva in leadership roles across the company’s AI and marketing technology teams.
The Simtheory deal in particular, has a much more visible significance for Canva. The feature set, when it is finally implemented in the Canva suite, should allow teams to build AI agents that are trained on the company data as well as troves of knowledge, and orchestrate multistep workflows, as well as switch between frontier models without lock-in. This is expected to provide a foundation for Canva’s next big evolution, as it evolves from a design-focused platform with AI tools to, an AI-led platform that focuses on design and productivity.
Obrecht points to the continuity of intention, citing recent deals for MagicBrief, MangoAI and Doohly. “We’ve only scratched the surface of the opportunity here,” he adds. Canva’s intention is to complete the chain that teams and workflows usually grapple with — from brief to creation, to distribution and assessing performance, with a significant AI layer to assist at each step.

On Thursday, ‘Vaazha 2’ earned a live net of Rs 2 lakhs from just 55 shows. Overall occupancy stood at 21.0% in the morning shows.After seven days, ‘Vaazha 2’ had collected Rs 47.17 Cr in India net. Day 6 and Day 7 both contributed Rs 7.10 Cr and Rs 6.95 Cr respectively.
ETimes review for the film reads, “The film also explores sibling bonds, and not just within one generation. David Miller made a costly error, denying Delhi Capitals a well-deserved victory in their IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, April 8, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With DC needing two runs off the last two balls, Miller refused a single after Kuldeep Yadav nudged Prasidh Krishna’s delivery.
Needing two off the final ball, Miller then missed a slower delivery from Prasidh, and Kuldeep was run out at the striker’s end as Miller attempted to steal a bye. DC lost by one run and that immediately sparked debate over whether Miller should have taken the single on the penultimate ball, at the very least ensuring his team did not lose within the allotted 40 overs.
A similar incident unfolded in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but there, better game awareness prevailed. During the match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday at the National Stadium in Karachi, Iftikhar Ahmed found himself in an almost identical situation, with Zalmi needing two runs off the last two balls.
Unlike Miller, Iftikhar took the single, allowing Aamer Jamal to finish the job with another run and seal a four-wicket win for Zalmi. Iftikhar was named Player of the Match for his all-round effort, having scored a crucial 15 runs and picked up four wickets.
Had Miller taken the single against GT, DC would have had a far better chance of winning, and he too might have entered the Player of the Match conversation.
Former India batter Sunil Gavaskar defended David Miller’s decision, saying the South African backed himself to finish the chase. Gavaskar admitted Miller perhaps should have given Kuldeep Yadav the strike, but stressed his confidence was justified and that he was undone only by Prasidh Krishna’s superb final delivery.
“Yes, he was backing himself to hit the winning runs, but having seen the way Kuldeep Yadav nudged that ball for a single off the first ball maybe he should have given Kuldeep the strike,” Gavaskar said.
“He should have given the strike. This is all being wise after the event, but the fact remains that the way he had been hitting the previous over and that over as well, he believed that he could do it, simple as that. So you can’t fault him for that. He had the confidence that he could do it, but it didn’t come off because the ball that Prasidh Krishna bowled was an absolutely superb delivery,” Gavaskar added.

A first-time filmmaker’s enthusiasm is almost unmatched. Ask Sayani Gupta, who wrapped up her maiden directorial venture, Aasmani, and has already begun developing two more productions. So, what’s next for the actor-turned-filmmaker? A fantasy horror film, she revealed to mid-day.

“It’s one of the best scripts I have ever read,” Gupta said of the international co-production. “We are hoping to make it the way we want to; it’s ambitious. There are such amazing storytellers and stories around. The idea is to be involved in them in some way.”

Juggling acting, writing, directing, and producing is undeniably tough. As much as she is enjoying her new roles, Gupta asserted that she doesn’t want the actor in her to take a backseat. “I hope people don’t start looking at me as a director and producer only, because I want to work as an actor as well,” she laughed.
Indian cinema has had its fair share of female actors who successfully turned filmmakers. The new director said she draws inspiration from the ones who came before her and made the path easier for their next generation. “The idea is to do all of it. It is hard, but there are so many women who have done it. One of the reasons I wanted to be in movies was Aparna Sen. As a kid, I grew up watching her films. She is a powerhouse performer and such a sensitive filmmaker. Then of course there’s Nandita [Das], and Konkona [Sensharma]! She is such a terrific actor, and her first directorial venture is a perfect film. I saw A Death in the Gunj [2016] six times.”
