actor and politician Ravi Kishan Recently participated in Prime Video’s reality show alliance With his daughter Rivva Kishan. Although his visit was cut short after he took a voluntary exit due to his work commitments as an MP and actor, the six-day stint gave the audience a glimpse of their heart-touching father-daughter bond.
In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Ravi agreed to do the show only because of Riva, why Alliance is different from any other reality show, comparisons with Bigg Boss, criticism of nepotism, and why the experience brought him even closer to his daughter.
‘I entered into alliance only because of Riva’
Ravi revealed that the only reason for making the alliance was his daughter Rivva and said, “She said, ‘Papa, let’s do this show. I would feel so dizzy. I said Rivva, I am an MP and all the career is like this, I am 34 years old, doing very well, did I make any mistake, something came out of my mouth, I am just being myself.’ I remain afraid. I said, ‘Don’t do this, don’t take this call.’ But somewhere, I understood, she wanted to spend time with me. Being an MP, I live in Gorakhpur and come to Mumbai if there is a shooting or go home on birthdays or anniversaries. I could understand that a daughter is very attached to her father, that’s why the daughter was asking me to go.”
He further added, “She said it would be good for me. She has done theater and a film with Akshaye Khanna, but it didn’t do well. So she might have wanted to get out of that big umbrella of Ravi Kishan. That’s why she wanted me to come. We went to the alliance, but we didn’t know that they would give us a heart attack, that the father-daughter alliance would not be together. From there the game begins. This call was only for Rivva.
I had put everything at stake so that the girl would not tell us that Papa, I had a chance but you did not support me. There is definitely popularity, everyone has started knowing Rivva Kishan now. There will be a popular face thanks to the alliance. ‘Alliance is not like other reality shows’
Ravi talked about the lovely memories he created with his daughter during his stint on the show and remembering that time, the actor and politician said, “No mobile, blankly you are looking at your daughter. She is also looking at me from her glass room in front. I can understand that she got emotional and said, ‘My strength is that and that is gone.’ There I had tears in my eyes. I am very eager to see him now. I want to see what I taught her in my 6-day journey and in life, whether she will be able to learn it in the show.
Ravi Kishan said that every contestant of the alliance is strong in its own way. He described Mini Mathur and Nikhil Chinapa as having “strong leads”, praised Arsalan Goni for being fully committed to the show for putting his stuff in storage before entering, and said that Kushal Tandon would be a tough competitor due to his reality show experience. She also highlighted Payal’s stature and Dilbar Arya’s inspiring journey of growing up in a refugee camp in Germany. Predicting the finalists, Ravi said that he sees Dilbar Arya, Mini Mathur and her daughter Rivva Kishan reaching the finals, while Payal also has a strong chance. “I think the women power in the house is very strong,” he said.
Explaining how Alliance is different from other shows, Ravi Kishan said, “Because it’s a very tough show. It’s not like other shows where you can survive by abusing, backbiting, below the belt, character assassination, you can survive (Because it’s a very tough show. ‘The child inside me has come out again’
When asked if Alliance reminded him of his Bigg Boss days, Ravi Kishan said, “The child inside me came out again. At this stage of life, I have accumulated a lot of memories. I had work, my office runs 24/7 because I am an MP, and my film diary is completely full. So, there was a lot happening in my life simultaneously. When God gives you after making you wait for so many years, it’s really Blesses those who have faith and wait patiently for His time.”
He continued, “So, for me, it was about clearing all that information from my mind and just seeing Riva at the game with all these strangers. Some of them knew me, but I didn’t know them, so it was fun getting to know them. There was no cooking, no washing clothes – we just had to play mind games. Plus, you had to keep an eye on everyone’s daggers and figure out whose knife was bigger or smaller, and who would betray you first. Even the arena. It’s a mental game, and I think it’s going to be very addicting. People will really enjoy it.”
‘The alliance brought us even closer’
Ravi revealed how the alliance helped him connect more deeply with his daughter, saying, “All the families across India were loving because every daughter, with her father, has never seen that side of him. Rivva has always seen me struggle (Most daughters have never seen that side of their father. Rivva has always seen me struggle and work hard), she has seen my difficulties. She has heard all my painful stories, all Papa has gone through that phase. There is nothing more beautiful for a daughter than seeing her father dancing like a child, so she included me in this show.
He further added, “We are both very real people, and we are deeply connected to each other. I think that bond touched everyone. I don’t think there has ever been a reality show where a father and daughter have participated together like this. So, I sincerely thank Alliance. I thought Rivva and I would play the game together, but Alliance separated us in the game and, at the same time, brought us closer. So many beautiful Memories. I got to know Rivva more deeply. And Rivva realized that Papa is not that child, even though he is in a very stressful profession. It was an amazing experience. After going inside the show, Rivva realized that the child within her is still very much alive.
‘I told him not to do the show’
Ravi revealed that he had asked Rivva not to do the show and said, “I agreed, I was telling her to take her phone, you don’t need it, if you want to come into cinema, I can produce a film for you, you don’t do that, don’t take this call. But her call was right. Ishwar has kept the secret till now and nothing has happened that she will come back for me.” There will be fire. She is also walking carefully ((I tried to stop her. Please don’t do this, don’t take advantage of this opportunity.’ But it turned out to be the right decision for her.
