According to Noida Traffic Police, waterlogging has been reported at Dalit Prerna Sthal, Noida Expressway, Sector 14A Road, Botanical Garden, Sector 62 and other places, due to which traffic has been affected.

Today’s weather live: Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Maharashtra, where at least 10 people have died in Palghar district since July 1, including three deaths in the last 24 hours. In a separate incident, three teenagers drowned in a water-filled mine near Amalner town in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district on Tuesday evening when one of them allegedly slipped while trying to take a selfie, according to PTI.

In Mumbai, the BMC said it would conduct a scientific study to determine the reasons for falling trees during monsoon, including whether road concretization weakens the roots of trees. At least three deaths, including that of an 11-year-old schoolboy, have been recorded in the city in tree falling incidents last week.

The civic body also said it would start annual inspection, maintenance and mapping of manholes from January to improve preparedness ahead of the monsoon, PTI reported.

Widespread disruption continues in many states due to heavy rains.

At least four people were killed and six others are missing after a landslide hit the Kallady tunnel construction site in Meppadi gram panchayat in Kerala’s Wayanad district on Tuesday.

There is news of cloud burst in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. Although no casualties were reported, according to sources, one or two culverts and bridges over a local drain were washed away in the flash flood caused by the cloudburst.

Situation of waterlogging and jam in Delhi-NCR

Meanwhile, rains continued to disrupt normal life in Delhi and Gurugram, with severe waterlogging and massive traffic jams reported across the NCR on Tuesday. Authorities have taken extensive measures to restore normalcy.

According to PTI report, the main road of Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48) near Narsinghpur caved in due to heavy rains, leading to closure of two lanes.

El Nino will not affect rain

The Center on Tuesday said the rainfall deficit in the country has reduced by 12 per cent with above normal monsoon activity witnessed in the first week of July. According to the PTI report, it also says that El Nino years do not necessarily result in less rainfall than normal.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), a high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra to assess the progress of Kharif season and review preparedness measures in view of the possible impact of El Nino on various sectors of the economy.
