US-Iran war live: Pakistan urges end to war a day after fresh attacks

US-Iran war LIVE: People walk past a billboard depicting the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and the late Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on a street in Tehran, Iran, on June 6, 2026.

US-Iran war live: Iran fired missiles at US allies Bahrain and Kuwait on Saturday after fresh US attacks, prompting a furious reaction from the Gulf monarchies and further straining a fragile ceasefire. Weeks of indirect talks marked by tit-for-tat threats and sporadic exchanges of fire have failed to secure an agreement to end the Middle East war or reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a barrier to Gulf oil and gas shipments.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said late Friday that its forces shot down four Iranian attack drones launched toward the strait, then attacked Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Saturday they had responded with missiles targeting “enemy targets in the area.”

CENTCOM said Iran launched seven ballistic missiles toward Bahrain and Kuwait, six of which were intercepted and one failed.

Bahrain, which hosts the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, condemned the latest attacks as “gross aggression”, while Kuwait said they “represent a dangerous escalation”.

Three explosions were heard in Bahrain’s capital Manama as air raid sirens sounded.

In Kuwait, repeated explosions were heard near the international airport, where one person was killed in an attack on Iran on Wednesday.

A ceasefire in the war – which began nearly 100 days ago due to US and Israeli attacks – has held since April 8 despite occasional flare-ups.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry described the latest US strikes as a “gross” violation, while condemning Washington’s “hostile and provocative behaviour”.

US-Iran peace agreement

Efforts to turn the ceasefire into a permanent agreement have repeatedly stalled, while the conflict has roiled global markets and increased pressure on US President Donald Trump domestically ahead of midterm elections.

“The talks are at an impasse and Trump must break the impasse,” Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, told CNN. He called for the release of approximately $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

Washington may instead seek to use the funds to offset losses from Iranian attacks on Gulf allies.

“The United States will use all tools available to make Iranian assets available to our Gulf allies to assist in reconstruction and reparations for any future damage that Iran may cause,” a source told news agency AFP.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached Tehran to emphasize on peace amid rising tensions between America and Iran. This is Naqvi’s third visit to Iran in recent weeks, as Pakistan makes diplomatic efforts to bring the two sides to the table.

Upon his arrival on Saturday, Naqvi was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni.

Israel-Lebanon update

Lebanon – drawn into the Middle East war when Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2 – on Friday called on Iran to end interference in its affairs.

Beirut’s army chief of staff Rodolphe Heckel left for Pakistan on Saturday, where he will meet his counterpart Assim Mounir, who has become a central figure in Iran-US mediation efforts.

Iran has stressed in its peace talks with Washington that the fighting in Lebanon and the war in the Gulf are interconnected.

On Saturday, Lebanon said three of its soldiers were killed in an Israeli attack in the south of the country. Israel’s military said it was “reviewing the incident” and stressed that its operation in Lebanon was targeting Hezbollah, not government forces.

The health ministry said two women were killed and 22 people were injured in an Israeli attack on Saqqiyah in the south.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army on Saturday announced the death of two of its soldiers.

A ceasefire declared in April has not stopped fighting in Lebanon, and a new conditional ceasefire agreement announced this week was explicitly rejected by Hezbollah.

US-Iran war live: Israeli journalist questions US spying claims amid Iran war fallout

Israeli journalist Yossi Melman said Saturday that recent reports about Israeli intelligence activity against the United States should be seen in the context of internal US political dynamics surrounding the war with Iran.

“To my knowledge, Israeli intelligence agencies stopped targeting American soil and American individuals after the Jonathan Pollard case,” he posted on Twitter.

Melman rejected the idea that recent reporting reflects a change in Israeli intelligence behavior, arguing instead that the claims are being shaped by competing narratives within Washington. He framed the issue as part of a broader political controversy over responsibility for the Iran conflict and its consequences.
