1. Four killed in rain-related incidents – Three members of a family, including two girls, died in a landslide triggered by rain in Karnataka’s Mangaluru, while a woman died after being hit by a rock in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district.
2. Himachal faces landslides, road closures – Torrential rains led to landslides, flood-like conditions, power disruptions and several road closures across the state. IMD has issued an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain from July 2 to 6 (except July 4).
3. Maharashtra hit by heavy rains – Due to heavy rains, parts of Thane, Palghar and Mumbai Metropolitan Region were inundated, causing severe waterlogging. Red alert has been issued in Palghar and orders have been given to keep schools and colleges closed on Thursday.

According to the weather department, monsoon is expected to enter Delhi around July 3 or 4. Meanwhile, rain alert has been issued in Delhi till July 7.
According to the weekly forecast of IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi in July will be 33 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius.
Palawat said rain activity is expected to intensify over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan by July 2 or 3 and the monsoon is expected to reach Delhi around July 3 or 4.
“Monsoon generally advances along the seasonal trough, which is currently extending from Punjab to the Bay of Bengal. Easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal along with the trough are expected to reach Delhi around July 3 or 4. Till then, the city is likely to receive only sporadic rains. Once these easterly winds move away and the trough becomes more favourable, the monsoon activity will pick up significantly,” he told news agency PTI.
IMD scientist Shivendra Singh told HT that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from July 2, which is expected to increase rainfall activity across the region.
