At a time when action-heavy, hyper-masculine protagonists are dominating the big screen, Imran Khan has made it clear he isn’t looking to join that wave.During a recent Reddit AMA, the actor addressed a fan’s suggestion about avoiding “macho roles” and responded with a remark that quickly caught attention.“I have no interest in playing a hairy angry man covered in blood,” he said, adding that such characters are already “generously represented” in today’s cinema. While he refrained from naming any film, the comment comes amid the success of large-scale action entertainers like Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, sparking online chatter about what his statement may be referencing.
On storytelling and responsibility
Imran also used the interaction to speak about the changing nature of film narratives, particularly the portrayal of violence.“There’s a significant difference between portraying violence and validating it,” he wrote, adding that he finds the current trend “disturbing”.According to him, being part of stories that appear to endorse aggression does not align with his sensibilities, which is why he chooses to stay away from such narratives.

A reflective reintroduction
The AMA also marked a rare candid interaction from the actor, who has largely stayed away from the spotlight since his last release in 2015.Reintroducing himself with humour, Imran referred to himself as “the guy” from his earlier films who “ghosted everyone”, inviting fans to revisit his journey and choices. He first gained popularity with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, a film that continues to define his on-screen image even today.
Return with a different tone
Imran is now preparing for his comeback with Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar.Sharing a glimpse into the film’s tone, he said it focuses on themes like empathy, kindness and responsibility — areas he feels are “under-represented” in mainstream storytelling. The film is currently in post-production and is expected to release later this year on a streaming platform, with an official date yet to be announced.
Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq’s much-debated bowling action is drawing attention across levels of cricket, with its distinct pause before release now being copied by younger players.Tariq’s action, which includes a visible halt before delivering the ball, has already come under scrutiny, with indirect suggestions of chucking from Australia all-rounder Cameron Green. The trend appeared to have reached school cricket as well, where a Sri Lankan bowler attempted a similar approach during a traditional inter-school match. The fixture, played annually since 1905, was in its 121st edition, Wisden reported.Representing Richmond College, left-arm spinner Nethuja Basitha tried to replicate Tariq’s method but added his own variation. He paused in his run-up and jumped multiple times before delivering a full toss. However, the umpire immediately called it a dead ball.Under Clause 41.4 of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) laws, which deals with a “deliberate attempt to distract a batter”, an umpire can call a dead ball if such an act is suspected. The law states that if an umpire believes there has been such an attempt, “he/she shall immediately call and signal dead ball and inform the other umpire of the reason for the call.”The rule also allows for five penalty runs to be awarded to the batting side, though in this instance, the umpire chose to issue only a warning.Since the pause was not part of Basitha’s regular action, it may have been seen as an attempt to distract the batter. In contrast, Tariq’s pause is considered part of his usual bowling action, which is why it may not fall under the same interpretation.Tariq had attracted attention ahead of the T20 World Cup, including during the match against India, where he returned figures of 1/24. He later took 4/16 against Namibia and 2/31 against England, but went wicketless for 43 runs against Sri Lanka in the last Super 8 match.
Priya Kapur, who has long been embroiled in an inheritance dispute involving the late Sunjay Kapur’s second wife, actor Karisma Kapoor, and their children, is now facing yet another legal battle with Rani Kapur over control of RK Trust assets. The dispute surrounding the RK Family Trust has escalated after Priya issued a notice seeking the removal of Rani Kapur as trustee.
Priya Kapur seeks removal of Rani Kapur as trustee
As per the latest update from news agency ANI, Priya, who is a trustee and beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, has issued a notice removing Sunjay`s mother, Rani Kapur, as a trustee with effect from March 25, 2026.
“Your conduct is contrary to the terms of the trust deed and to your fiduciary duties as a trustee. As stated, you have sought a judicial declaration to dissolve the RK Family Trust, aiming to divest the trust of its entire corpus and revert all settled assets to yourself, while seeking to void all prior trust actions. Such an attempt to extinguish the trust for your personal gain is a complete breach of your fiduciary duties as a trustee,” Priya Kapur said in a notice to her mother-in-law. The move comes days after Rani Kapur issued a notice to remove Priya from the RK Family Trust.
According to an earlier notice, Priya Kapur is stated to have been appointed as a trustee following a meeting allegedly held on June 25, 2025, after the demise of Sunjay Kapur. However, the existence and validity of the RK Family Trust, as well as the settlement of assets into it, are presently under challenge before the Delhi High Court.
About Rani Kapur allegations
Rani Kapur is the elderly mother of the late Sona Comstar Chairman, Sunjay Kapur. Recently, in 2026, she moved the Delhi High Court, alleging that her daughter-in-law, Priya Kapur, used a “fraudulent” family trust to unlawfully divest her of her estate following her son`s death in June 2025. She has sought cancellation of the trust and protection of the family legacy.
Apart from Rani Kapur, Priya is also in a legal feud with Mandhira Kapur. She filed a defamation case against Mandhira, accusing her of circulating videos on social media containing “false allegations” against her, allegedly aimed at “causing social ostracism.” She is also in a tiff with Karisma Kapoor’s children over asset division.
The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is set to start on March 26, with Lahore Qalandars entering as defending champions after lifting the title last season. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s side will once again be one of the headline teams. The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, features eight teams after expansion, and will have 44 matches in total.
The opening match will see the Qalandars take on new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. It is a fascinating curtain-raiser: a proven title-winning unit up against one of the league’s biggest unknowns. Lahore bring continuity, experience, and a championship core, while Hyderabad add fresh intrigue as one of the newly introduced sides in the expanded competition.
However, PSL 2026 will not look like a normal season. Originally planned across six venues, the tournament has now been reduced to just two cities — Lahore and Karachi. The PCB confirmed that all matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi, a major logistical shift designed to cut travel and simplify operations.
The revised schedule has the first 14 matches in Lahore, followed by a block in Karachi, with the playoffs split between the two cities. The Qualifier has been moved from Rawalpindi to Karachi, while Lahore will still host the Eliminators and the final on May 3.
Another major change is that the tournament will begin behind closed doors. The PCB has announced that the initial phase of PSL 11 will be played without spectators, citing the ongoing regional crisis and fuel-related austerity measures.
There is also no opening ceremony this year. The traditional curtain-raiser in Lahore has been cancelled as part of the scaled-back plans. That means PSL 2026 starts in a far quieter fashion than usual – but with the defending champions in action and a new franchise on debut, the cricket should still provide plenty of spark.

Actor and Aamir Khan’s nephew, Imran Khan soared to popularity soon after his debut film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na released in 2008. But post a string of setbacks along the way, he took a break from acting after his last release in 2015. A decade later, Imran is busy gearing up for his much-anticipated comeback. The actor will soon return to our screens with the upcoming film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, co-starring Bhumi Satish Pednekkar. Ahead of the same, Imran held a special ‘Ask Me Anything’ session for his fans, where he got candid about his film, his break, and the current trends in Bollywood.
Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Ranveer Singh
Announcing the AMA, Imran Khan shared, “I’m Imran Khan-the guy from Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Delhi Belly & more… then ghosted everyone and… I dunno, what even happened? Here’s your chance to find out! Here for an AMA on r/indiasocial! Ask me anything about movies (mine or others), cars (I drive them), the 90’s (I remember them), & much more.” Along with the post, Imran uploaded a picture of himself sitting in a car with a placard in his hand, which said, “Get in loser… We’re going sh*tposting on r/indiasocial. Reddit AMA Imran Khan Tues 24th March, 7 pm IST.” During the session, a netizen requested Imran to not transition to ‘macho roles’ which are popular right now. To this, Imran replied, “Yeah, no interest in playing a hairy angry man covered in blood. I think that genre is generously represented.” Was this a dig at Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (2023) or Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar? Wondering the same, a netizen wrote: “Ranbirveer shadeeee (rightfully) (sorry i am being messy)🤣.”
Another fan claimed that mainstream Bollywood heroes today are ‘loud, aggressive, and often glorify violence or problematic behavior toward women’. Responding to the same, Imran wrote, “I have also noticed this trend and am disturbed by the way these films coddle every violent tantrum thrown by emotionally immature man-children who can’t conceive of a valid reason that a women might spurn their advances. Important to note that there’s a significant difference between portraying violence and toxicity, and validating them. I see it as people chasing a trend without consideration. My own sensibilities would not permit me to participate in a narrative which I consider to be irresponsible.”
Talking about the trends in Bollywood and his comeback film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, Imran shared, “I do feel like there are certain emotional notes that are largely unrepresented in movies nowadays; there’s a distinct lack of empathy, kindness and responsibility in our stories and characters. We consciously crafted Adhure Hum Adhure Tum to cater to these under-represented ideas. The film is in post production right now, we hope to release it in the later part of this year, but that decision rests with Netflix.”
How excited are you to see Imran Khan in Adhure Hum Adhure Tum this year?
Actor Anupam Kher revisited Mumbai’s iconic Prithvi Theatre, reflecting on his early days in theatre as he prepares for his play Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane. Taking to his Instagram, Anupam recalled performing his first play, Desire Under The Elms, at the Prithvi Theatre in 1982 in Mumbai.
Anupam Kher thanked Prithvi Theatre for being a constant source of inspiration in his life.
He wrote in the caption, “PRITHVI THEATRE AND I… In 1982, I performed my very first play #DesireUnderTheElms in Mumbai at Prithvi Theatre. I was raw, nervous, hopeful!! And full of dreams. That space didn’t just give me a stage! It gave me a HOPE. I met producers, directors, fellow dreamers. I found a part of myself I didn’t know existed.”
Ahead of his new play, Anupam said he recently visited Prithvi Theatre early in the morning, revisiting memories while preparing for his performance. He described the experience as “quiet” and “meditative,” adding that it brought back the same sense of excitement and gratitude he felt at the beginning of his career.
“And today, as I prepare for my new play Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane, I found myself going back to Prithvi early in the morning, when it’s quiet, almost meditative. Sitting there, going over my lines, I felt the same hunger, the same excitement… and the same gratitude. Some journeys come full circle. Some places remain your home forever. Prithvi Theatre- Thank you for being my beginning. And still the inspirational co-traveller! Jai Ho!”
Anupam also thanked Prithvi Theatre for being a constant source of inspiration in his life, calling it both his beginning and an enduring companion in his artistic journey.
Anupam recently announced a new stage production titled Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane. The play will be presented by Anupam Kher Studio and will feature him sharing the stage with actor Swaroop Sampat.
The musical play is written and directed by filmmaker and theatre personality Gajendra Ahire. Music for the production has been composed by Anu Malik. This marks the first time the composer is creating music for a stage play.
The play explores relationships in today’s world. It follows how people who seem familiar to each other can still remain strangers in many ways. The story delves into emotions, memories, and connections between people through drama and music. Singers Shaan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Anandi Joshi have lent their voices to the songs. Lyrics for the play have been written by Kausar Munir, while choreography is handled by Chirag Aggarwal.
The production also features actors Meghna Malik, Maya Sharma, Vikas Rawat, Shraddha Mandale, and Herman De Souza.
Speaking about the play, Anupam shared that theatre holds a special place in his career and that returning to the stage always feels meaningful. “Theatre is where my journey as an actor truly began, and every time I return to the stage, it feels like coming home. Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane is a deeply human story that reflects the emotional contradictions of the world we live in today. Collaborating with such an extraordinary creative team makes this production incredibly special for me. I believe audiences will see themselves in this story,” Anupam said, as per a release.
Composer Anu Malik also spoke about working on the musical score for the play. He said music plays an important role in bringing out emotions in the story. “Music has the power to express emotions that words sometimes cannot. When I first heard the story of Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane, I knew it needed a musical soul that could touch the heart. Composing for theatre is a unique and exciting experience, and I am thrilled to create melodies that will live and breathe on stage with such talented performers and singers,” he added.
The premiere date and venue for the play have not yet been announced. More details about its run are expected to be shared soon.
Before umpires call ‘play’ the surround noise this time is at an amazing level. The RR and RCB sales have ignited the event with a huge bang, catching the attention of fans, sponsors and investors. This year’s IPL is cricket’s grand Diwali.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru. (REUTERS)
Before the first ball is bowled much background work has happened in the lead up. For the past few weeks teams were in serious prep — players in camps (Gujarat in Rajasthan, Rajasthan in Nagpur, Chennai in Abu Dhabi) with support staff going through trusted processes.
The focus was on getting match ready, technique and craft making way for match-ups and match situations. Mental conditioning experts looked to control stress. Power hitting coaches created drills to help batters send the ball 10 yards deep into the stands. The data person crunched numbers to detect trends and discover flaws. Team played intra-squad games to fine tune roles and find the best combination.
The IPL resembles a well-coordinated war operation with experts and strategists looking at challenges, options and opportunities. T20 cricket is decided by fine margins so little is left to chance.
The IPL celebrates cricket and unites us as we discuss, debate and dissect matches. The IPL is also a celebration of the current greats, cricket royalty, and it’s good to have the ageing gods (MSD at Chennai, Virat in Bangalore and Rohit in Mumbai) descend one more time from the heavens to meet their adoring fans. The IPL is superstar territory and these cricket giants, wearing numbers 7/18/45, give us immense joy and keep the commercial wheels moving.
In its 19th year, the IPL’s playbook has a reassuring sameness but team marketing and promotion dynamics demand some change, some fresh take even if it’s just optics. LSG have redesigned their logo adding a crown, garuda and an elephant to enhance its super giant identity. RR have acquired new clothes — the jersey now has blue in addition to the original pink and also features a lion with sharp claws. Wonder why because lions are already present in CSK and Kings Punjab territory and Rajasthan has not roared since 2008.
Like every other year, it’s difficult to predict which team will go the distance. The IPL is structured to ensure competitive parity (equal players’ purse, only four foreign players in the final 11) and the absence of a clear favourite adds to the thrill of the competition. RCB won last year after several close misses but for DC and Kings, two teams still searching for the trophy, it’s been a frustrating wait.
MI look the most sorted with all-round firepower (they have six players who played the T20 WC final this month in Ahmedabad, plus Rohit) but CSK are undergoing a confused reset. MSD@44 is probably in his third farewell year, his role shrinking with each passing year. Chennai respects seniority and experience and Samson’s appearance in yellow should give fans much to cheer about. And it will be interesting how CSK use Kartik Singh and Prashant Veer — two young players on whom they splurged R29 crore.
Trusted seniors too will be on test, notably Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, two high value assets who missed recent action because of injuries. For Kings and LSG to fire, these two will have to put bat to ball.
Even before the start, an entire set of fast bowlers have been taken out by fitness issues. Harshit Rana, Akash Deep won’t play at all and Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, Lockie Fergusson, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc are nursing injuries. Mayank Yadav is reportedly good to go and Umran Malik too is fit and ready.
But, more than breakout player performance, the interesting thing to watch this year is how far the game itself has progressed. The batting anchor role has lapsed and teams taking the game deep is so yesterday. This is the era of fearless cricket where every ball must go, anything short of 200 is death — and 275-300 is within reach.
Till the other day it used to be Gayle, Pollard, Russell, ABD. Now it’s Abhishek, Ishan, Sooryavanshi launching rockets.
NEW DELHI: The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on Wednesday warned hotels and restaurants of action in case it found them levying additional charges under heads such as “LPG charges,” “gas surcharge,” and “fuel cost recovery” in food bills. The authority issued an advisory invoking provisions of Consumer Protection Act observing that such charges are being imposed by default to circumvent existing guidelines on service charges. It said that no such charges shall be levied automatically, and warned that violations may invite “strict action” as this constitutes “unfair trade practice”.

In an official statement, the CCPA said that grievances received on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH), and media reports, show that certain hotels and restaurants are levying such charges in the consumer bill by default, over and above the price of food and beverages displayed in the menu and applicable taxes. “Such practices result in lack of transparency and impose unjustified costs on consumers,” it said. The authority clarified that input costs such as fuel, LPG, electricity, and other operational expenses are part of the cost of running a business and must be factored into the pricing of menu items. It advised eateries that the price displayed in the menu shall be the final price, exclusive only of applicable taxes. Consumers should not be misled or compelled to pay any additional charge that is not voluntary in nature. The CCPA said consumers who encounter such practices may request the hotel or restaurant to remove the charge from the bill; lodge a complaint on NCH by calling 1915 or through its mobile app and can also file a complaint before the appropriate consumer commission through the e-Jagriti portal.
The conversation around age gaps between actors playing romantic leads has been gaining traction lately. It recently came into focus when 20-year-old Sara Arjun was cast opposite 40-year-old Ranveer Singh in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, and when 29-year-old Rashmika Mandanna portrayed the wife of 60-year-old Salman Khan in Sikandar. Now, Akshay Kumar, who will next be seen opposite 32-year-old Wamiqa Gabbi in Bhooth Bangla, has weighed in on the debate. Sharing his perspective in a conversation with News18, Akshay said, “Toh kya hai? Humne pehle dekha nahi hai kya kabhi? It happens in Hollywood as well. Sometimes, it’s the requirement of the script. (In real life too), so many people get married to partners older or younger than them.”

Speaking about his co-star Wamiqa, he added, “I first met Wamiqa when we were shooting for Bhooth Bangla. She works very differently. She keeps reading her scenes and rehearsing for them. She gets very serious. Tabu is more serious than her. Vidya Balan, who I’m working with in Anees Bazmee ji’s film, on the other hand, believes in being a free actor.”Director Priyadarshan also addressed the discussion, highlighting the distinction between an actor’s real age and their perceived age on screen. “There’s something that people like MGR and NTR used to say… that there’s a big difference between chronological age and screen age. An actor’s screen age may not be his real age. but people accept you for your screen age too. I don’t see any issue there. When I shoot, I may look at a pair and feel like it isn’t the right pair (and that may have nothing to do with their age gap). When I shoot with Akshay or Tabu, I never feel (an issue) looking at them. And once audiences watch the film, I notice that they don’t feel that issue either. That’s because of their characters and their screen age.”Also featuring Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and the late Asrani, Bhooth Bangla is slated to release in theatres on April 10. The film marks Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s reunion after 14 years, following Khatta Meetha (2010). Interestingly, their upcoming horror-comedy also shares a nostalgic link with Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), as both films were shot at the Chomu Palace in Jaipur.
