MUMBAI: Life Insurance Corporation of India on Monday approved a 1:1 bonus share issue, a move that will double its paid-up equity capital and is expected to improve stock liquidity and retail participation, while leaving its financial strength unchanged. The board, at its meeting on April 13, cleared the bonus on a record date to be announced later, subject to shareholder approval. The bonus will improve liquidity in the scrip and help govt in selling shares through a follow-on public offer, considering that the shares trade at a discount to the issue price of Rs 949. LIC’s authorised equity share capital stands at Rs 25,000 crore and its paid-up equity share capital stands at Rs 6,325 crore. Following the proposed bonus issue, the paid-up capital will rise to Rs 12,650 crore. The insurer reported reserves and surplus of Rs 1,46,441 crore as of Dec 31, 2025 and a profit after tax of Rs 33,998 crore for the nine-month period ended Dec 31, 2025. LIC chief executive and MD R Doraiswamy said, “Since listing in May 2022, LIC has been paying dividends consistently and also increasing the dividend per share over a period of time from Rs 1.5 per share to Rs 12 per share,” adding that the company has been evaluating mechanisms to reward shareholders.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has shared an emotional tribute to the late playback singing legend Asha Bhosle. The actress took to her Instagram on Sunday and shared a throwback picture of herself with the late singer.
She also penned a long note in the caption, as she spoke about the late singer’s influence on the musical landscape of India, several generations, and the culture.
She wrote, “There are some losses that feel like losing a piece of your childhood, your memories, your home. Asha ji was that for so many of us. Her voice wasn’t just part of Indian music; it was part of the backdrop of our lives. It played through our homes growing up, through family celebrations, through heartbreaks, through joy, through the quiet and loud moments that became memories before we realized it. For my generation and so many before and after, she wasn’t simply a legend we admired; she was a constant. A voice so eternal it felt like it would always be there. It is hard to put into words what it means to lose someone whose art helped shape the emotional landscape of an entire nation”.

One of the most influential singers of her time, Asha Bhosle, passed away on Sunday. The singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. Ashish Shelar, the Culture Minister of Maharashtra, made the announcement of her death. Her last rites will be held at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 pm.

Ishan Kishan hinted at a significant tactical shift following Sunrisers Hyderabad’s dominant 57 run win over Rajasthan Royals, suggesting he could continue to give up wicketkeeping duties to focus more on captaincy in IPL 2026.
Kishan led from the front with a blistering 91 off 44 balls, helping SRH post a commanding 216 for 6 after early setbacks. With Abhishek Sharma dismissed for a duck and Travis Head falling for 18, the responsibility fell on the captain to steady the innings. Kishan responded with a measured start before accelerating, striking eight fours and six sixes to take the game away from Rajasthan.
“We have been scoring 200 plus consistently, so the belief was there,” Kishan said after the match. “The idea was to take the game deep and allow players like Abhishek to play freely because if he gets going, he can take the total to 260 or more.”

“As a captain, I felt there was some miscommunication at times,” he explained. “When you are keeping, you do not always get enough time to talk to the bowlers about plans.”
By staying closer to the action, Kishan was able to guide his bowlers more effectively and adjust field settings in real time.
“It is better to be there, discuss what they are going to bowl and set the field accordingly. That was the plan and I think it worked well,” he said, adding that the approach could continue going forward.

Edin Rose on going from Bigg Boss to films
LIK might be Edin’s debut in Tamil, but she has previously starred in Telugu songs Dikka Dishum and Karthika Deepam from Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura and Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi. “I walked into 2026 hoping for growth and received exciting projects,” she tells me, adding, “LIK holds a special place in my heart. Working with Suryah sir was an incredible experience. His energy, knowledge, and creativity on set are truly inspiring.”
For the uninitiated, Edin was a model before she took part in Bigg Boss 18, and she says it was an experience unlike any other. “Nothing can truly prepare you for the show. It’s far more intense than what you see on screen; it pushes you emotionally and mentally. My biggest takeaway from the show was self-awareness. I discovered strengths I didn’t know I had,” she says, adding, “As for acting, I want roles that challenge stereotypes and allow me to explore different shades, be it intense, unconventional, or emotionally driven characters.”

And one such unconventional role was Edin’s humanoid in LIK, which came at a time when she was looking for opportunities that would challenge her. The fact that it was directed by Vignesh, produced by Nayanthara and had her starring opposite Suryah was just the cherry on top. “It was an easy yes for me,” she says, adding, “It was unlike anything I’ve ever done. I tried to understand how AI processes emotions…almost like feeling without actually feeling. I also have an action sequence, so I worked hard on my body language, voice modulation and restraint.”
A scene from the film even sees Suryah and Edin recreate his famous steps from Mayiliragae in the 2005 film Anbe Aaruyire. “I watched the original, and it’s such an iconic track. We were mindful of its legacy while shooting. Our version has more contemporary treatment while still respecting the essence of the original. Now that LIK has been released and audiences are embracing its uniqueness, I just hope my performance leaves a lasting impact,” she says, rounding off.

Rajasthan came into the game on a four-match winning streak and with enough batting firepower to believe 217 was within reach. Instead, they were blown away for 159, with the chase collapsing so quickly that the match was effectively decided inside the first three overs.

The more striking number, though, sits beneath the scorecard. For this match, SRH’s combined investment in Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain was just ₹6 lakh. The combined profit they generated for the franchise was ₹2.57 crore. In a league where attention usually follows the biggest auction buys, two ₹30 lakh bowlers produced the kind of returns teams dream of from their marquee names.

RR had reasons to feel confident at the halfway mark. They had momentum, they had batting depth, and they had already shown this season that they could keep up with high totals. SRH’s 216/6 was strong, but not untouchable. Then Praful Hinge took the new ball and turned the chase into a rescue mission almost immediately.
He removed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius in his opening over, producing one of the most devastating starts by a debutant in the tournament. He later dismissed Riyan Parag as well, finishing with 4/34. By then, the damage had already spread through the RR innings. The top order was gone, the scoreboard had barely moved, and the middle order was walking into a game state built entirely around survival rather than pursuit.
Sakib Hussain made sure there was no way back. He dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal early, then returned later to remove Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi, ending with 4/24. If Praful’s burst was the blow that broke the chase, Sakib’s spell was the clamp that shut every remaining door. Between them, the two debutants took eight wickets and dismantled the innings across phases.
Why Praful came out ahead in value
