As an American citizen, I have, and have exercised, my right to speak up with honesty.”

Esha also criticised her father Ashwin and Rupali, saying, “I want to address an important point: a child should never be punished for speaking their truth. Despite being a young adult, I am still my father’s child.”

“Their response to my statement was disturbing, and cruel, and displayed their true character. I was not just a random individual speaking out but someone who was directly affected as a member of their family.”

Raj Kundra reacts to ED raids, urges media to ‘Respect Boundaries’ as Shilpa Shetty's name is dragged into the Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted multiple raids on Friday, targeting businessman Raj Kundra and others in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged distribution of pornographic and adult content. The searches spanned 15 locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, including Kundra’s residence and office.
In response to media reports linking his wife, actor Shilpa Shetty, to the case, Raj Kundra issued a strongly-worded statement on social media. “To whom it may concern, while the media seems to have a flair for drama, let’s set the record straight: I’m fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Claims involving ‘associates’, ‘pornographic content,’ and ‘money laundering’ won’t cloud the truth—justice will prevail!” he wrote. Kundra further expressed frustration over the frequent dragging of Shilpa’s name into unrelated matters, urging, “Please respect the boundaries…!!!”
According to Mint, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, also issued a statement clarifying her non-involvement. “There have been reports of ED raids on Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra. These are false and misleading. She has no connection to any offence of any nature,” he emphasized. Patil urged the media to exercise responsibility, warning against the use of Shilpa’s pictures or videos in association with the case.
“The ongoing investigation pertains to Raj Kundra, who is cooperating fully. Using Shilpa’s name or visuals without basis is irresponsible journalism and may invite strict action,” the statement read.
This case adds to Kundra’s legal troubles following his 2021 arrest over the alleged production and distribution of adult content, though he has consistently denied the allegations.

After husband Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty also covered her face in public appearance

Raj Kundra slams media outlets dragging wife Shilpa Shetty’s name amid ED raids

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on the premises of businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The searches were part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged money laundering case. After Shilpa’s lawyer stated about the ‘Dhadkan’ star not being connected to any of it, Raj took to Instagram and asked the media to not drag his wife’s name into unrelated matters.

Raj slams media outlets for dragging Shilpa’s name amid ED raids

Raj Kundra wrote on his Instagram stories, “To whom it may concern… While the media seems to have a flair for drama, let`s set the record straight. I am fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation that has been unfolding for the past four years. As for the claims of `associates`, `pornography`, and `money laundering`, let`s just say that no amount of sensationalism will cloud the truth. In the end, justice will prevail.”

“A note to the media: It`s unacceptable to repeatedly drag my wife`s name into unrelated matters. Please respect the boundaries,” he added.

Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer requests media to not use her pictures

Shilpa Shetty`s lawyer, Prashant Patil, issued a statement, saying she has “nothing to do with any offence.” Patil clarified, “There have been reports in the media saying that my client Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true and are misleading. As per my instructions, there is no Enforcement Directorate raid on her as she has nothing to do with any offence of whatsoever nature. However, the case in question is an ongoing investigation regarding Mr Raj Kundra and he is cooperating with the investigation for truth to come out.”

“I would request the electronic and print media to refrain from using the videos, pictures, and name of Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra as she has nothing to do with the case. Strict cognisance shall be taken against irresponsible journalism wherein the pictures or videos of her are shared on this matter,” he added.

The ED has raided Raj Kundra`s residence in Santacruz. On October 3, Kundra, who is facing accusations of money laundering through Bitcoin, received a notice instructing him to vacate his Juhu bungalow and Pune farmhouse. In response, he filed a petition with the Mumbai High Court challenging the notice.

NewJeans fallout: HYBE loses nearly half a billion dollars after girl group’s controversial exit, report claims

HYBE is reportedly facing a major setback after the popular girl group, who were at the peak of their career, announced their exit from the agency. Citing a breach of contract, all five members of NewJeans—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—held an emergency press conference, sharing details about their next steps, prompting a fiery response from ADOR. Now, according to reports, the Bang Si Hyuk-led company’s shares plunged by as much as 6.97% on Friday.

NewJeans is a five-member girl group formed by ADOR (presently under HYBE Corporation's multi-label banner). Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein debuted in 2022.

HYBE’s value plummets after NewJeans’ exit

Despite ADOR dismissing the exit announcement as ‘invalid’ and asserting that the girl group ‘had no valid reason to end their contracts,’ HYBE, the parent company and one of South Korea’s largest K-pop agencies behind groups like BTS, lost over $423 million in market cap on Friday, according to CNBC.

The ongoing feud between ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee Jin and music mogul Bang Si Hyuk, which centered on the management of the girl group and had been escalating for months, led to the members’ abrupt exit and caused the company’s shares to plunge by as much as 6.97% on Friday.

The girl group, known for representing major global brands like Gucci, CK, and LV, rose to success faster than many of their 4th-gen K-pop peers. Although the group debuted at the tail end of the generation, their innovative style and music-making played a key role in their rapid rise. The members credited their former CEO, Min Hee Jin, for much of their success and requested her return to the role as part of their terms outlined in a legal notice to HYBE. However, Min Hee Jin officially resigned on November 20.

NewJeans announces exit

“Staying here would be a waste of time and would only bring mental pain,” Hanni said during the conference after the group accused ADOR of lacking both the will and the ability to protect NewJeans. “There is nothing we can gain professionally from staying here, so the five of us see no reason to remain at ADOR,” according to South Korean media outlet Yonhap.

The group earlier, sent a legal notice to HYBE, outlining five demands. this includes an “apology for bullying allegations against….Read More

Hybe’s third-quarter 2024 net profit saw a dramatic 99% year-over-year decrease, CNBC reports. Analysts point to two main causes: lower sales resulting from limited artist activities during the Olympics and higher expenses linked to the launch of KATSEYE. This negative trend is consistent with the broader K-pop industry, where all four major agencies have seen their stock prices decline.

Here is the situation on Saturday, November 30:

Fighting

  • Ukraine has lost about 40 percent of the territory it captured in Russia’s Kursk region in a surprise incursion in August, amid intensifying Russian counter-assaults.
  • Military analysts say Ukraine’s military is experiencing manpower shortages, making it harder to rotate troops out of the more than 1,000km (620 miles) of front line or to build up reserve forces.
  • Residents of Kyiv went about life on Friday with flashlights and candles after Russia fired nearly 200 missiles and drones at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure a day earlier, leaving more than a million households without power.
  • A possible resumption of nuclear weapons tests by Moscow remains an open question in view of hostile US policies, a senior Russian diplomat was quoted as saying early on Saturday. “This is a question at hand,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the TASS news agency when asked whether Moscow was considering a resumption of tests.

Diplomacy

  • Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and agreed to boost military cooperation between the two nations, according to Pyongyang state media.

  • France’s President Emmanuel Macron has promised to provide Ukraine with intense support in its battle against Russia’s “escalation” of its invasion, his office said.
  • Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has reportedly urged NATO counterparts to issue an invitation to Kyiv to join the Western military alliance at a meeting in Brussels next week.
  • Zelenskyy said in an interview broadcast on Friday that offering Ukraine NATO membership while allowing Russia to keep for the moment territory it had captured could be a solution to end the “hot stage” of the 33-month-old war.
  • The spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights called for Russia to “immediately cease all attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure”.
  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Russia-Ukraine war “has shown us the weakness of the rules-based international system”.
  • Outgoing European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell described the situation in Ukraine as “worsening” and said he is pessimistic that United States President-elect Donald Trump will improve it. Borrell said Ukraine is able to defend itself only as long as its allies support it.
  • German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured Zelenskyy of Germany’s continued support in a call on Friday, in which they agreed to stay in contact, also with a view on possible paths to a just peace, he said on social platform X.
  • Ukraine accused Georgia of trying to “please Moscow” after the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said his country would suspend EU accession talks.

Regional security

  • Russia is waging a “staggeringly reckless campaign” of sabotage in Europe, while also stepping up its nuclear sabre-rattling to scare other countries off from backing Ukraine, the head of the United Kingdom’s MI6 foreign spy agency said.
  • Poland has deployed Leopard 2 battle tanks in Latvia to reinforce the NATO brigade there.
  • German defence giant Rheinmetall and Lithuania signed deals to begin construction of a $190m ammunition plant to make artillery shells in the country.
  • German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius wants to order four new submarines to help meet NATO’s security requirements in Europe, a parliamentary budget committee source told the AFP news agency.

The 63-year-old – a former Moscow city councillor – is already serving a seven-year sentence following a conviction in 2022.

Kate’s new pictures

Pictures of Kate surfaced on X, where she can be seen sipping coffee from a takeaway cup outside a London cafe. Dressed in a white fur overcoat, Kate is all teared up as she breaks down looking at her phone. A recent New York Post story suggested that Kate was devastated that Liam couldn’t be saved, after the latest CCTV footage of the singer’s fall surfaced online.

The report quotes a close friend of Kate, “Whenever it seems it can’t get more painful for Kate, it gets even more painful. He could have been saved, he could have been helped. It’s devastating — and infuriating.” Kate insisted that given the new footage, it’s possible that Liam “could have been saved, could have been helped.”

Liam Payne’s funeral

Kate also attended her late boyfriend’s funeral last week. Along with her, former members of his band One Direction reunited at the funeral as well. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson joined friends and family at the service for 31-year-old Payne, who died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month.

A horse-drawn carriage carried the coffin to St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, 25 miles northwest of London. Undertakers carried the dark blue casket with silver handles, topped with white roses, into the 800-year-old church for the private service. The funeral location was not made public in advance to prevent a large crowd from gathering, though dozens of local people and fans still gathered nearby.

The crowd fell silent when Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, emerged from a car to stand beside the carriage, which was topped with floral tributes reading “Son” and “Daddy.” Payne had a 7-year-old son, Bear, with the singer Cheryl Tweedy. After the service, Cowell embraced Payne’s parents outside the church before the late singer’s coffin was driven away in a black hearse.

No change expected in repo rate at next week’s RBI monetary policy committee meet, cut ‘very likely’ in Feb: Report

No change expected in repo rate at next week’s RBI monetary policy committee meet, cut ‘very likely’ in Feb: Report

Nov 30, 2024 11:11 AM IST

The repo rate was last hiked to 6.5% in February 2023 and has been kept unchanged for 10 consecutive monetary policy meetings since then.

HDFC Bank estimates that the central Reserve Bank of India (RBI) would keep the repo rate steady at 6.5% in its final monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting of the year, to be held next week, the country’s largest private sector bank said in a report.

RBI held its previous monetary policy committee meeting in October (Representational Image)
RBI held its previous monetary policy committee meeting in October (Representational Image)

A rate cut is “very much possible” at the next MPC meeting in February, the report added.

“We anticipate that the RBI will maintain the current policy rate at its meeting next week, although the likelihood of a rate cut in the February policy has increased post this weaker-than-expected data,” the Mumbai-based HDFC Bank stated.

The latest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data released on Friday showed that the GDP growth for Q2 FY25 slowed to 5.4% year-on-year, down from 6.7% in Q1.

Meanwhile, the HDFC study also projected that the rural demand is likely to recover during the second half of the fiscal year. It based its “optimism” on strong agricultural performance, payouts under government schemes, and increased government spending.

Together, these activities could spur economic activity, as per the report.

“A recovery in rural demand – driven by strong agricultural performance and government scheme payouts, along with increased government spending, is expected to drive economic activity in the second half of the (fiscal) year,” the study noted.

What happened at RBI’s previous MPC meeting?

On October 9, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced that the central bank had decided to keep the key repo rate steady at 6.5%.

This meant that the repo rate, hiked to 6.5% in February 2023, stayed unchanged for the 10th consecutive time. It is the rate at which the RBI gives loans to commercial banks.

However, the RBI also changed its stance to “neutral,” an indication that a rate cut could be made in the forthcoming policies.
