In a recent podcast, Vandana Shah discussed the causes of breakdowns in celebrity marriages. She explained that in such marriages, especially in Bollywood, it’s not infidelity but boredom that often leads to separation. The lawyer noted that celebrities frequently experience multiple marriages, transitioning from one relationship to another. She added that while one-night stands are fairly common, the real issue lies in the monotony that causes relationships to fail. Vandana stated, “Their lives are very different. I do not think infidelity is the reason for the failure of their marriages in Bollywood. The cause is boredom. They move from one marriage to another because of boredom, which is peculiar to Bollywood and super-rich families.” She emphasized that this is something she has not observed in many other marriages.

Vandana also revealed that interference from outsiders, including the spouse’s mother, brother, and even father-in-law, often exacerbates challenges in celebrity marriages.
Vandana further shared details of a high-profile divorce in the South Indian film industry, where the father-in-law’s control created unhappiness for the daughter-in-law. She said, “There’s a South Indian couple where the father-in-law is pulling all the strings, leaving the daughter-in-law unhappy. Her husband is a tiger in bed and otherwise, but in front of his father, who is worth around Rs 10,000 crore, he becomes like a cat.”
